Karlos Williams to start for Bills
The Buffalo Bills have reported that Karlos Williams will get the start at running back today when they host the Jets in Week 17. The Bills will hope to play spoiler against the Jets who are vying for a playoff spot. In a game where weather may be a factor, many teams like to lean on their running game, though the Bills could encounter tough sledding today against a New York Jets defense that comes in ranked #5 against RB's in DvP rankings and have played great against the run all season long. After naming Mike Gillislee the starter in Week 16, Karlos Williams received the majority of the Bills' rushing attempts, rushing 17 times for 76 yards and a touchdown, adding two catches for 21 yards.
LeSean McCoy officially ruled out
Not a surprise but LeSean McCoy has been ruled out for their game against the Jets. Karlos Williams and Mike Gillislee will carry the load for the Bills in what is a tough match up against a Jets defense that is 5th in RB DvP and with a game script that will probably lead to the Bills having to pass more than they run.
Karlos Williams announced as starter, but Gillislee working with 1st team in warmups
According to ESPN's Mike Rodak, during warm-ups for the Buffalo Bills, Mike Gillislee is getting reps with the "ones". Originally projected as the change-of-pace option, Gillislee looked good with his opportunities last week (81 rushing yards, 1 TD) while Karlos Williams was returning from his shoulder injury. The Cowboys come in struggling against the run, leaving opportunity for both Williams and Gillislee to see work.
Karlos Williams listed as Bills' starting RB
The Buffalo Bills have listed Karlos Williams as their starting RB for Week 16 with LeSean McCoy inactive. Mike Gillislee will operate as a change-of-pace option in a plus match up against the Dallas Cowboys who are #26 in DvP ranking vs. RB's.
LeSean McCoy ruled out for Sunday, Karlos Williams in line to start
LeSean McCoy has been ruled out for Sunday's game with the Cowboys, and Karlos Williams figures to draw the start in his absence. While Mike Gillislee saw more total touches than Williams last week, Williams was reportedly only available in any emergency situation, and LeSean McCoy's injury clearly qualified as such for the Bills. Williams saw all four of his touches after McCoys's injury, and now that Williams has had an extra week to heal, he's going to be a very strong value play across the industry. Gillislee is a nice tournament flier for those that aren't on Williams.
LeSean McCoy doesn't practice, appears doubtful to play this week
McCoy did not practice today as expected. He's not expected to play this week with Karlos Williams and Mike Gillespie picking up the slack. Williams is the preferred target of the two as he has shown great upside when he's been the starter. The Bills face a Cowboys defense that is much more vulnerable to the run than they are to the pass, largely because their offense can't do enough to force teams to throw heavily.
LeSean McCoy (torn MCL) week-to-week
Given that the Bills season is all but over, it would be surprising if McCoy played another snap this season. Adam Schefter notes that there is still more testing to be done and that it's possible a Week 17 return could be in the cards, but we'd be very surprised if that were to come to fruition. Karlos Williams will presumably head up the Bills backfield with Mike Gillislee acting in a complementary role - if Williams draws the start on Sunday, he'll be a very worthy DFS option against the Cowboys, who don't have a strong run defense. Not including Week 15 statistics, Dallas has allowed the 5th most FPPG to opposing RBs this season. Game flow should also work in Williams' favor.
Karlos Williams practices again
It looks as if the backup Bills RB will play this week as he has practiced in full the last two days. While he's not a play for DFS purposes, he does threaten to steal some value from LeSean McCoy in a match up against a moderately tough Redskins run defense (#11 overall in RB DvP). Williams was sieving touchdowns from McCoy earlier in the season, although Williams was producing them at an unsustainable rate given his number of touches, and he's not expected to eat heavily into McCoy's workload this week.
Karlos Williams out Week 14
Karlos Williams will be out again for Week 14 against the Eagles, as expected. Williams did not practice this week and will miss another game on Sunday. LeSean McCoy will be nearly guaranteed 20 or more touches in this game against his old team and former coach, whom McCoy still holds a clear grudge against, making it well known this week that he is still unhappy with his former coach Chip Kelly. The "revenge game" narrative is active and running with LeSean McCoy this week and he finds himself with a nice match up as well against an Eagles team surrendering big fantasy points to opposing offenses both on the ground and through the air. By Draft Kings' metrics, the Eagles defense is surrendering 24.72 FPTS to RB's per game this season with an average of 110 rushing yards and 5 receptions to go along with 3 Red Zone rushing opportunities and 1 Red Zone receiving opportunity per game. Using Fan Duel's metrics, the Eagles defense is surrendering 21.51 FPTS to RB's per game. Look for McCoy to get plenty of touches and keep up his work out of the backfield catching balls also - last week (Week 13) against Houston was the first time McCoy has not caught a pass in a game this season. McCoy is averaging 4.1 targets per game (targets on the year week-to-week: 4, 3, 3, 4, 4, 2, 5, 10, 5, 1). McCoy has also cleared 100 total yards in all of his last 6 games.
Karlos Williams OUT for this week
Karlos Williams had been doubtful to play all week and the team has officially confirmed that he is out for this weekends game. LeSean McCoy should get the bulk of the work for the Bills and is an excellent play against a Texans defense that is #22 in RB DvP.
