Kelvin Benjamin Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Spencer Ware (hamstring) officially inactive Saturday; Sammy Watkins (foot) active

Ware is officially inactive, as expected, and won't play in Saturday's Divisional Round matchup against the Indianapolis Colts due to a hamstring injury that's now forced him to miss four straight games, while Sammy Watkins is active and Kelvin Benjamin is a healthy scratch to make room for Watkins on the gameday roster. Ware's absence will allow Damien Williams to continue working as the Chiefs undisputed lead back, and he is averaging exactly 16 touches per game in the three weeks Ware has been sidelined. As for Watkins, he's a risky tournament option at best, as he hasn't played anywhere close to a full game since Week 9 when he logged 77 percent of snaps. However, he is cheap exposure to this explosive Chiefs offense on the two and four-game slates across the industry.

WR Kelvin Benjamin expects to play Thursday night

Additionally, Offensive Coordinator Eric Bienemy shared that it would be "all hands on deck" for TNF. Benjamin should see some snaps in 3-WR sets against the Chargers on Thursday night, but it remains to be seen who will see the most of the WR2 duties behind Tyreek Hill with Chris Conley and Demarcus Robinson having moved up in the pecking order due to Sammy Watkins' absence.

WR Kelvin Benjamin not expected to be active for Chiefs in Week 14

With Sammy Watkins also now expected to miss 4-6 weeks, Chris Conley should again see a meaningful role again on Sunday as the Chiefs' WR2. Conley has 3 touchdowns over the past three weeks, though he faces a challenging matchup on Sunday against a Ravens secondary ranked in the top 5 in pass defense DVOA.

WR Sammy Watkins (foot) suffers setback and is expected to miss more time

The Chiefs WR2 appears to have suffered a setback with his foot injury at Thursday's practice and Sam Mellinger of the Kansas City Star reports Watkins will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks, effectively ending his regular season. This news further explains yesterday's signing of Kelvin Benjamin who should now compete for WR2 snaps with Chris Conley moving forward. Conley should remain the better option of the two on Sunday as Benjamin gets up to speed with the playbook, however both receivers will still carry low floors week-to-week in a passing game focused on Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce.

Bills release WR Kelvin Benjamin and WR Andre Holmes

The Bills officially announced that they have parted ways with Kelvin Benjamin and Andre Holmes and will file for waivers on each veteran wide receiver Tuesday evening. Holmes had barely played in any of Buffalo's last three games, but the departure of Benjamin will open up more snaps for Robert Foster, Isaiah McKenzie, and Deonte Thompson, each of whom played between 35-49% of snaps in the loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon. Zay Jones has been leading the Bills receiving corps in snap rate for most of the season, but he still stands to benefit from these roster transactions as he's accumulated a total of 21 targets over the last three games.

Bills have released WR Jeremy Kerley

The Buffalo receiving corps is even thinner now after moving on from the veteran. Kerley was second on the team in catches in Sunday's debacle against Baltimore, but now Andre Holmes will be elevated to the No.3 wide receiver position with Kelvin Benjamin and Zay Jones still on top of the depth chart. With Josh Allen starting this week, the Bills passing attack is slightly more appealing, though owners might want to wake a wait-and-see approach on the unit.

All About the Benjamin

Kelvin Benjamin put together a 4/59/1 stat line in Thursday’s preseason opener for the Buffalo Bills. It was encouraging to see Benjamin making plays in the opening minutes of that game. Nathan Peterman may end up being the starting quarterback on this team week one and Benjamin caught a 28 yard strike from him to kick off the scoring in this game. Corey Coleman is a speed guy who has had issues with drops early in his brief career, so Benjamin’s size and skill set may prove to be more beneficial to these quarterbacks than Coleman. Any WR1 on an NFL team deserves our attention in DFS.

Kelvin Benjamin and Charles Clay are not on the final injury report and are expected to play Sunday

As expected the Bills will have both Clay and Benjamin for Sunday's game vs the Jaguars. Benjamin is fighting through a meniscus injury and has clearly played less than full strength the last few games. Clay is no stranger to missing practice time as his knee has been bothering him for the last few weeks. From a matchup standpoint, Clay is the better play this week as he gets to face a Jaguars defense that ranks 20th in pass DVOA against the tight end. If LeSean McCoy were to sit this week, the target ceiling could raise for a player like Clay who should be a safety blanket for Tyrod Taylor.

Kelvin Benjamin and Charles Clay were both limited in practice on Friday, but expected to play

The practice status of both Benjamin and Clay has remained the same this week as both have practiced in a limited fashion all week, and both are still expected to play this weekend. Benjamin is fighting through a meniscus injury and has clearly played less than full strength the last few games. Clay is no stranger to missing practice time as his knee has been bothering him for the last few weeks.
