Kerwynn Williams is questionable for Week 17
Williams looks on track to play even though he has the questionable tag next to his name on Friday.Williams has averaged 18.0 touches per game since Adrian Peterson went on IR, but he's hardly ever used in the passing game. With an implied team total of 14.25 points, the Cardinals have a very tough matchup against a Seahawks team that needs a win if they want any chance to make the playoffs.
Kerwynn Williams active Sunday
Kerwynn Wiliams is active for today's game and he should be in line for another big workload as he’s averaging 18.0 touches per game since Adrian Peterson went on IR. The Cardinals run game has a favorable matchup against a Giants defense that ranks 24th in rush DVOA.
Kerwynn Williams is questionable for Week 16
Williams returned to a limited practice on Friday and is officially questionable for this week's game vs the Giants. If Williams is unable to go then we could see Elijhaa Penny get work as the feature back, and D.J. Foster to see action in the passing game. With Drew Stanton under center this week, the prospect of any one player in the offense to have a great day is far less likely. Rostering any player from this team should be considered an extremely thin GPP play.
Kerwynn Williams did not practice on Thursday
Williams has been the workhorse in the Cardinals backfield over the last few weeks. Averaging almost 18 carries per game Williams has been a decent surprise on a team riddled with injuries. If Williams is not able to go this weekend look Elijhaa Penny and D.J. Foster will share backfield work on what could potentially be a bad offense under new quarterback Drew Stanton.
Adrian Peterson inactive Week 13
Kerwynn Williams is expected to start with D.J. Foster working in on passing downs. However, Williams is dealing with an injury to his ribs he suffered last week. It's possible he can't handle a full workload or leaves the game early. Bruce Arians also praised Foster, adding carries "could easily fall into his lap quickly." It's an uncertain situation but Foster appears to have the better outlook among the two and he's got a nice matchup with the Rams, whose defense is giving up the second-most PPR points to RBs this season.
Adrian Peterson isn't expected to play Week 13
Both the offensive coordinator and head coach had different opinions during the week but apparently Peterson's neck injury hasn't progressed as well as they thought it would by now. Jay Glazer reports Peterson isn't expected to play Sunday. Kerwynn Williams is expected to start with D.J. Foster working in on passing downs. Cardinals "pessimistic" Peterson can play Week 13, remains a game-time decision
Both the offensive coordinator and head coach had different opinions during the week but apparently, Peterson's neck injury hasn't progressed as well as they thought it would by now. Adam Schefter reports Peterson will be a game-time decision Sunday. If he can't go, Kerwynn Williams will start with D.J. Foster working in on passing downs. Adrian Peterson expected to play Week 13
Peterson has been sidelined this week with a neck injury but offensive coordinator Harold Goodwin full expects Peterson to suit up on Sunday. He'll maintain his featured role in their backfield against the Rams. Last time these two teams faced, LA blew the Cardinals out 33-0 and Peterson only touched the ball 12 times. Vegas seems to think it could get out of hand again as the Rams are 7-point road favorites and the Cardinals have the fifth-lowest implied total on the board (18.75). Peterson posted a pair of nice games since joining the team but he's also returned 1.9 yards per carry or fewer in three of his six appearances with Arizona and he's averaging 3.5 ypc overall with the team.
Adrian Peterson isn't practicing Thursday
It's the second straight absence for Peterson, who's dealing with a neck injury. Yesterday, head coach Bruce Arians said he has "no clue" what his backfield will look like this weekend. If Peterson sits, it could put Kerwynn Williams in the early-down role while D.J. Foster takes over on passing downs. We should learn more about Peterson and what the Cardinals plan to do if he sits over the next couple of days.
John Brown (quad) ruled out for Week 2
The Cardinals receiver can't seem to stay healthy; a lingering quad issue will keep him sidelined Sunday. Rookie receiver Chad Williams will enter the rotation as the fourth wideout. Guard Mike Iupati and tackle D.J. Humphries have also been ruled out; Alex Boone will start in place of Iupati. John Wetzel entered their first game for Humphries and he's expected to get the nod again. He was very poor, earning an abysmal 28.5 PFF grade. Arizona struggled to run the ball in Week 1, averaging 2.5 yards per carry - even with David Johnson accounting for 11 of those (23 yards). They'll face a Colts defensive line that limited the Rams to 1.9 yards per carry as a team and Todd Gurley to 2.1 ypc on 19 attempts. They were shredded by Jared Goff through the air for 306 yards and a touchdown on a 72.4% completion rate though. Quarterback Carson Palmer may be forced to air it out and he should find success against their poor secondary. Larry Fitzgerald, J.J. Nelson, and Jaron Brown will pick up some extra targets vacated by John Brown and Johnson, who averaged 7.5 per game in 2016. Andre Ellington is expected to be involved as the pass-down back, but he's in a timeshare with starter Kerwynn Williams and Chris Johnson. Even their fourth back, Elijhaa Penny is expected to get some work in the backfield.
