Kyle Stanley Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Very Cheap if this Golfer has Actually Turned the Corner

Stanley is a play that I expect many to flock to given the course setup and his numbers from last week’s Travelers Championship. He finished T24 and gained over seven strokes tee to green. A year ago, he was in great form and posting a ton of top 20 finishes. Since September, he has really struggled but perhaps he found something in his game last week. When locked in, he’s one of the best iron players in some of these events with weaker fields. He’s not a good putter by any means, but has more success on bentgrass than on bermudagrass. He played here last year and posted a respectable T21 finish. A repeat performance will more than suffice at this price point.

Kyle Stanley is no longer in the field

Kyle Stanley has decided to take a pass on this weeks 3M Open. Stanley has been replaced in the field by Chad Campbell. A projection will be assigned to Campbell once he is added to the player pool.

Perfect Course for Accurate Stanley

I am not giving up on Stanley yet. He is still trending up and his ownership has stayed low and now this week we can use him as another value piece, with seemingly low ownership once again. He has gained strokes on Approach and OTT in 4 of his last 5 events, and with these fairways being tree lined, I think he finds himself at a bigger advantage if he can continue hitting his driver well. Kyle is not a long hitter by any means, which is actually not a knock on him this week at Detroit Golf Club.

Stanley Form Under the Radar

Kyle Stanley may turn out to be my favorite Salary Saver this week due to his immediate-recent form. As you probably know, I really like building multiple time-weighted models and comparing trends or even short bursts of form. Luckily, we do get full rounds so even when we discuss short term form not being a big enough sample size, in just one event ~150 to 175 golf shots is enough for me to see if someone is “faking” it or starting to see some lasting improvements. Stanley sticks out as that possible candidate this week. He has gained SG:APP in 5 of his last 6 events, and when looking at last week’s US Open results, I think he quietly played really well tee-to-green. He is historically a bad putter on all surfaces, so the Poa to Bent isn’t really a bump, but his 77% DA and 61% GIR is in line, if not better than several players who finished inside the Top 10. He hit 45% of his approaches inside 24’ which was 7th in the field last week. Two T20s in the past 4 years here at TPC River Highlands is also worth mentioning.

Ten minutes until roster lock make sure you have removed all players that are not in the field

It's been quite a busy week in terms of players opting to pass on playing at Pebble Beach. With ten minutes left until roster lock please take the time to make sure the players above are not in any of your builds. Good Luck this week grinders, as always we will have ReultsDB up shortly after lock so you can see how your lineups stack up in terms of ownership vs the field.

Kevin Na, Chris Kirk and Kyle Stanley have all withdrawn for The Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Player field news came out a bit later than normal this week in terms of Monday field movement. Usually, we get this kind of activity before salaries are released, but three players in this weeks field have all withdrawn from the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Kevin Na, Kyle Stanley, and Chris Kirk have all decided to not play this week, so please remove them from roster consideration.

Cut Maker with Upside

Stanley is going to be a popular value play this week, but that doesn’t mean that he is bad chalk. In my eyes, bad chalk is when everyone congregates around a volatile golfer that is really cheap. Stanley is consistent, he’s a solid fit for the course, he is coming off of a T22 at the Sony Open, and he has made four straight cuts at this event. Even though his putting can take him out of contention from time to time, he has an underrated around the green game. I love his chances to make the cut this week and his price is more than reasonable across the industry.

Kyle Stanley looks to bounce back from a down week

Kyle Stanley is the type of player that always pops in models due to his elite ability to strike a golf ball. Last week at somewhat of a high ownership number Stanley disappointed many in the field with a very poor showing. When Stanley plays bad it's usually his putter, and last week was no exception. Looking to get his game back on track Stanley stands out as a great roster choice on a course that tends to favor great ball strikers. If Stanley can make a few more putts this week then he should have no problem paying off his discounted salary. Despite his poor performance at last week's CJ Cup, Stanley's projected ownership has actually increased a bit since Monday. While it's hard to really quantify what that movement actually means, there is a strong case to be made for positive ownership movement in Stanley's favor.

Good Ball Striker with a Nice Finish at this Course

Stanley was a huge disappointment last week, but that should help lower his ownership for this tournament. If you look at his stats, he was ranked in the top half of the field in driving accuracy and greens in regulation, he just couldn’t make a putt. We know that he’s a great ball striker and with the greens being easy to hit, we don’t have to worry about his around the green game. If he can bounce back with the putter, he will easily pay off this cheap price tag.

Straight Shooting at Sheshan

There are a few routes to success here at Sheshan International. You can either be short but incredibly accurate or you can bomb-and-gouge and hope to have a good week avoiding trouble. Stanley fits the bill for route number one. Stanley is one of the most accurate golfers across the entire PGA TOUR so he should have no troubles keeping himself out of trouble this week. From there, he just needs an average week with the flat stick in order to pay off this price tag. That is always a question mark with him but it tends to go in his direction when heading to bentgrass. He ranks 11th in this field when it comes to bentgrass performance versus baseline performance.
