Larry Donnell Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Jerell Adams inactive, Larry Donnell active for Giants
Adams is a surprise inactive but he isn't much of a factor in the Giants' offense; he's topped 20 yards twice this season. Donnell received one target after Week 7. Will Tye will be the tight end to roster on the Giants' side but he has a low floor. Tye, who scored once this season, exceeded 50 yards in just one game. The good news is he had at least four receptions in each of the final three weeks.
Larry Donnell inactive Sunday
He's a healthy scratch today. Will Tye will be the leading tight end for the Giants when they take on the Bears this afternoon. He's averaged 7.5 targets over the past two weeks and makes for a sneaky tournament tight end. Chicago ranks 21st in TE DVOA, and New York's primary receiver, Odell Beckham, will have his hands full with Tracy Porter. Tye is at or near the minimum across the industry, and he now projects as our third points-per-dollar tight end on DraftKings.
Larry Donnell not listed on injury report; will play this week
The Giants TE missed last weeks game against the Packers but will return this week after taking part in practice and not being on the team injury report today. Him and fellow TE Will Tye are not viable DFS options going against a tough Ravens defense that is 3rd in TE DVOA.
Larry Donnell practices (limited)
The Giants starting TE practiced for the second straight day, albeit limited, and looks as if he will be able to play this weekend when the Giants take on the Baltimore Ravens. It's a hit on the value of Will Tye, but even if Donnell sat Tye was a shaky play going against a Ravens team that is 3rd in TE DVOA. Both are easy fades this weekend.
Larry Donnell expected to clear concussion protocol, will likely practice in some capacity tomorrow
Donnell wasn't able to suit up in Week 5 due to a concussion, but he's reportedly feeling much better and is expected to clear the NFL's concussion protocol by tomorrow. It's likely that he's able to practice tomorrow, even if it's in a limited capacity. Will Tye would be an intriguing punt play at the TE spot if Donnell is inactive, but both players being healthy makes it a situation to avoid.
Will Tye to be New York's primary tight end against Packers
The Giants normally run with both he and Larry Donnell at tight end, but with Donnell out due to a concussion, it will be Tye's game in Green Bay. As mentioned earlier, there are two likely options for this matchup: a shootout, or Giants throwing a lot while coming from behind. Both defenses are pretty similar: they both do well against the run and struggle to defend passing attacks. Green Bay has the best rushing defense in the league, which will likely force Eli Manning to sling the rock all night. Anticipated game flow paired with Tye's expected snap count -- he should see at least 80%, if not more -- makes him an intriguing play this weekend. In the five games Donnell missed last season where Manning threw more than 34 times, Tye had at least five receptions and 50 yards in four of them, plus a touchdown in two. Green Bay is allowing 7.7 catches and 73.7 yards to opposing tight ends on the season. It appears as though Tye, who is very affordable across the industry, will have a nice floor Sunday night with touchdown upside.
Larry Donnell OUT this week against Packers
Donnell has been going through the NFL concussion protocol and was unable to practice or progress any this week. The team has ruled him out for their Sunday Night game against Green Bay. Will Tye makes for an excellent value option going against a Packers defense that is 19th in TE DVOA.
Larry Donnell misses practice again; doubtful for Sunday
The Giants TE is going through the leagues concussion protocol and is very unlikely to play this weekend against the Packers. Will Tye should get the bulk of the TE work and is a reasonable option going against a Packers team that is 22nd in Pass DVOA and 19th in TE DVOA.
Larry Donnell (concussion) misses Wednesday's practice
Donnell is in the league's concussion protocol, so him missing today's practice isn't surprising. He was banged up in Monday night's game with the Vikings and given that the Giants are on a short week, he's looking iffy at best to suit up against the Packers on Sunday night. If he's unable to go, Will Tye should get as much work as he can handle, and should fight for 5-8 targets without any competition around to steal looks.
Larry Donnell placed on IR
Donnell will miss the rest of the season due to the neck injury he suffered back on November 1st against the Saints. This leaves the TE spot to Will Tye for the rest of the season, and he may actually be a sneaky GPP target in the season's last few weeks. Tye saw just 4 targets last week, but had averaged 7 per game in his last three contests (the first three games Donnell missed). With that type of target count, Tye will find the end-zone before long (he hasn't scored yet this season). He's in a very nice spot this week against a Dolphins defense that has allowed the 4th most FPs to opposing TEs.
