Cheap goalie looks to win in-state showdown
Louis Domingue is reasonably priced on both DraftKings ($7,600) and FanDuel ($7,700) which gives him appeal in all formats. Unfortunately for the Florida Panthers, they lost Vincent Trocheck to a nasty injury last time out in their goal-scoring barrage against the always-generous Ottawa Senators. Trocheck is a pivotal piece for the Panthers as he centers the second line and is a deadly force on the power play. With him out, Florida's depth takes a massive hit, and while their top power play will still be potent, Trocheck cannot be replaced. Domingue has filled in admirably for Andrei Vasilevskiy so far, and he has always been a better start on home ice. Domingue is backed by one of the best defensive groups in the National Hockey League, and he stands a good chance of the win while minimizing the damage from an overmatched Panthers' team.
Backup goalie takes on struggling offense
Outside of his seven goal blowup in Arizona when the Lightning were playing on consecutive nights, Louis Domingue has been serviceable. The Lightning catch a Pittsburgh team at the right time as the Penguins have dropped six of their last seven contests, managing just 13 goals, and complicating matters even further for Pittsburgh is that captain Sidney Crosby has been ruled out for tonight. With Pittsburgh's offense slumping and their defense struggling, a matchup with an elite Tampa Bay team will not make matters easier. The Lightning hold the National Hockey League's best xGA/60 (1.90) at 5-on-5. Domingue is no Andrei Vasilevskiy, but he will be backed by an offense averaging 3.50 goals per game. At $7,400 on DraftKings and $7,700 on FanDuel, Louis is a strong option in tournaments, particularly if stacking Tampa Bay.
Top Goalie Tonight?
Despite having 11 games on the docket, the goaltender position once again lacks multiple safe options in net. With that being said, Louis Domingue seems like the safest overall option, despite being on the road. The Lightning should dominate this game, and with the Ottawa Senators playing their second game in as many nights and struggling to score goals this year (25th overall in the National Hockey League in goals per game), I think we see Domingue and the Lightning cruise to an easy victory. If you do not trust Domingue in goal, the Detroit Red Wings are a decent sized favorite tonight, and the similarly priced Jimmy Howard should come away with the win.
