Lucas Nogueira Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

C.J. Miles (dental procedure) ruled out Saturday; Lucas Nogueira (calf) questionable

Miles was originally removed from the Toronto Raptors' injury report for tonight's game against the Philadelphia 76ers, but he has now been ruled out due to a dental procedure that has now forced him to miss three consecutive games, while Lucas Nogueira has been listed as questionable with a torn right calf muscle that has kept him sidelined for last 10 games. Miles has essentially settled into a consistent 16-20 minute role off the Toronto Raptors' bench, and his absence should continue to open up additional minutes on the wing for players like Norman Powell and Fred VanVleet, though the playing time increase has been nominal, at best, making both guards tough sells for daily fantasy formats on Saturday's slate and moving forward.

C.J. Miles (dental procedure) ruled out Thursday; Lucas Nogueira (calf) remains out

Miles has been ruled out and won't play in tonight's game against the Philadelphia 76ers due to a dental procedure that has now forced him to miss two consecutive games, while Lucas Nogueira remains sidelined with a torn right calf muscle and is still without a timetable for return. Miles has really settled into a consistent 16-20 minute role off the Toronto Raptors' bench, and his absence should continue to open up additional minutes on the wing for players like Norman Powell and Fred VanVleet, though the playing time increase has been nominal, at best, making both guards tough sells for daily fantasy formats on Thursday's slate.

Lucas Nogueira (torn calf) ruled out Friday

Nogueira has been diagnosed with a muscle tear in his right calf after undergoing further testing and has been ruled out for tonight's game against the Indiana Pacers. The Toronto Raptors did not provide a timetable for his return, but he was treated with a platelet-rich plasma injection to enhance the healing process, hinting that Nogueira will likely be sidelined for an extended period of time. From a fantasy perspective, his absence has a very minimal effect on the remaining members of the frontcourt rotation as he has failed to eclipse eight minutes of playing time in seven of the Raptors' last 10 games. If anything, there will be a few extra minutes available for Jonas Valanciunas and backup center Jakob Poeltl, though each continues to have their minute floors capped by head coach Dwane Casey's propensity to roll with small-ball lineups on a consistent basis.

Lucas Nogueira (ankle sprain) questionable Monday

Nogueira has been listed as questionable on the Toronto Raptors' injury report for tonight's game against the Portland Trail Blazers with a sprained left ankle that has already forced him to miss two consecutive games. With Serge Ibaka and Jonas Valanciunas both already ruled out with their respective injuries, Toronto could be left with essentially Jakob Poeltl, Pascal Siakam, and OG Anunoby to man the frontcourt if Nogueira is eventually ruled out, barring any call-ups, in traditional non-small ball lineups. Speaking of Poeltl, he has been the primary direct beneficiary of all these big man injuries and may be in line to set a season-high in minutes facing off against Jusuf Nurkic on the other side for Portland, making him an intriguing tournament option if he can stay out of foul trouble. That said, DeMar DeRozan may be the more under-the-radar player target from Toronto as he owns a +5.6% usage rate differential with Ibaka and Valanciunas off the court this year and leads the Raptors with a massive 37.4% usage rate in the aforementioned scenario while averaging 45 fantasy points per 36 minutes, which would easily pay off his salary across the industry Monday night.

Lucas Nogueira (ankle) ruled out Wednesday; DeMar DeRozan (thigh) will play

Nogueira has been ruled out and will not play tonight's game against the Golden State Warriors after previously being listed as questionable on the Toronto Raptors' injury report with a sprained left ankle, while Jonas Valanciunas has also been ruled out as he continues to recover from a sprained left ankle that has now kept him sidelined for two consecutive games. Nogueira had already been starting at center in place of Valanciunas and now Jakob Poeltl could move into the starting lineup in their absences. The Raptors could also opt to start Serge Ibaka at center and play C.J. Miles on the wing with Norman Powell and DeMar DeRozan, which may make sense against a uptempo Warriors squad that goes small with Draymond Green at center on a consistent basis. If Miles starts, he would enter the discussion as an intriguing tournament option given his shooting ability and propensity to get hot from the field in pace up matchups.

Lucas Nogueira (ankle) questionable for Wednesday; Jonas Valanciunas (ankle) will remain out

Nogueira has officially been listed as questionable for tomorrow's game against the Golden State Warriors with an ankle injury, while Jonas Valanciunas has been ruled out as he continues to recover from a sprained left ankle that has now kept him sidelined for two consecutive games. Nogueira had already been starting at center in place of Valanciunas and if he misses Wednesday's contest, Jakob Poeltl could move into the starting lineup in his absence.

Opportunity With Injury

Lucas Nogueira is an extremely risky GPP play tonight, but with the night setting up as a stars and scrubs type of slate, he's a nice pivot off the chalk. Valanciunas got hurt in the game against the 76ers, and Nogueira was the player that came in for him and played down the stretch. He had ten points and nine rebounds in 16 minutes of that game, and I would expect him to play 18-22 minutes tonight without Valanciunas. The Spurs don't typically play small, and will need someone to guard Pau Gasol. If Ibaka gets in foul trouble, we could see even more minutes for Nogueira.

Patrick Patterson (knee) available tonight

Patrick Patterson is available tonight off the bench for the Raptors. Serge Ibaka is also available, so the chances of Patterson making a significant impact are low. Avoid Patterson until we see how the rotation shakes out in Toronto. Jakob Poeltl will likely return to the bench and Lucas Nogueira will be used as the backup C behind Jonas Valanciunas.

Lucas Nogueira (concussion) will play tonight; Patrick Patterson (knee) ruled out

Nogueira will play in tonight's game against the Phoenix Suns after clearing the concussion protocol. Nogueira had missed the last two games due to a concussion and blurred vision, and he could possibly replace Norman Powell in the starting lineup with Patrick Patterson still sidelined with a knee injury. If Nogueira draws the start, he would become an elite option for his price tag on the main slate. Even if he doesn't start, Nogueira is more than worth a look in tournaments on a minuscule two-game slate.

Patrick Patterson (knee) and Lucas Nogueira (concussion) officially ruled out; DeMarre Carroll will play

Patterson and Nogueira will not play in tonight's game against the Charlotte Hornets after previously being listed as doubtful on the Raptors' injury report with a strained left knee and concussion respectively. Prior to his injury, Patterson was recently inserted into the Raptors' starting lineup, replacing the duo of Lucas Nogueira and Norman Powell, who each recently had stints with the starting unit. With Nogueira also ruled out, Pascal Siakam will draw the start at power forward. Theoretically, with how thin Toronto is in the front court, Jonas Valanciunas should see near 30 minutes of playing time in a great matchup with Cody Zeller and the Charlotte frontcourt, but his minutes are always too volatile to be confidently recommended as anything other than tournament option.
