Luke Falk Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Jets QB Luke Falk Waived

In a surprising move, the Jets have waived backup QB Luke Falk. He may be added back to the Jets practice squad, but the team also could make an attempt to get another backup signal caller.

Originally the Jets' QB3 before Darnold and Trevor Siemian went down, Falk was forced into significant action in three games. He attempted 73 passes, did not score a touchdown, turned the ball over five times, and managed to accrue less than 12 total FPs in those games.

Sam Darnold (Mono) Cleared to Play This Week

Darnold has been cleared to return to the field and will start for the Jets Week 6. The offense had been inept under Luke Falk, meaning the return of Darnold will give all the Jets' weapons a boost. Darnold had been close to returning last week and has been practicing, which should help limit his rust.

Demaryius Thomas (Hamstring), Josh Bellamy (Shoulder) Questionable Week 5

Both Thomas and Bellamy are questionable Week 5. Sam Darnold has been ruled out, meaning Luke Falk will QB for the Jets against the Eagles, limiting the upside of this offense.

Sam Darnold (Mono) Ruled Out Week 5

Darnold took a significant amount of reps this week but wasn't able to get medical clearance to play. That means Luke Falk will get another start this week. He had a terrible first start, finishing 12-22 for 98 yards and a pick, and the lack of reps certainly won't help. The Jets implied total is just 14.5 this week, with only the Redskins against the Patriots projected to score fewer points.

Sam Darnold (Mono) Limited Again Thursday, Getting Medical Tests Tomorrow

Darnold is ready to play, but he still needs to be cleared for physical contact before he can get back into games. He is undergoing tests tomorrow, so we should have a better idea of his availability then.

Sam Darnold (Mono) Limited Practice Wednesday

Darnold has returned to practice in a limited capacity, as he is still not cleared for contact. He is taking first-team reps, but Falk is also getting reps in practice. It would be risky to rush Darnold back, so Falk still has a good shot at being the Week 5 starter. There is little upside to the Jets' offense with Falk at QB.

Sam Darnold (Mono) Cleared For Non-Contact Drills, Week 5 Status Unknown

Darnold has been cleared for non-contact work this week. His status is still unknown, but it is doubtful the Jets rush Darnold back, especially with the risk on internal injuries due to his mono and the team already sitting at 0-3. Luke Falk would continue to start in Darnold's place as needed.

Sam Darnold (Mono) Trending Towards Week 5 Return

Darnold has missed the last two weeks with mono and is reportedly making good progress towards his return. With the Jets off for a bye Week 4, Darnold could end up missing just 2 games with mono. The Jets offense looked inept with Falk, gaining just 105 yards of total offense Week 3, so his return would be significant for the other offensive weapons on the Jets.

Trevor Siemian Out for the Season

Siemian tore ligaments in his ankle Monday night, knocking him out for the rest of the season. Luke Falk will take over as the starter until Sam Darnold is able to return. The Jets are more than 3 touchdown underdogs Week 3 against the Patriots, and it is hard to see anyone except Le'Veon Bell producing for the Jets until Darnold can return.
