Mac Williamson Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Mariners are an intriguing stack option vs. Bassitt tonight

It’s not as easy as usual finding pitchers to stack against on the night slate, as there are a number of good pitchers throwing tonight and not a ton of matchups that stand out. One lineup to consider stacking is the Mariners, who have still managed to swing the bat decently well (106 wRC+ over last 30 days) despite trading a few of their best bats. Though Chris Bassitt has a 3.80 ERA, his estimators indicate regression as he owns a 4.81 xFIP and 4.75 SIERA. Bassitt has also really struggled of late; he’s posted a 4.50 ERA, 5.24 xFIP and 5.29 SIERA with an 8.6% K-BB over the past 30 days. Daniel Vogelbach (.407 xwOBA vs. RHP this year), Domingo Santana (.367), JP Crawford (.343), Mac Williamson (.331), Kyle Seager (.320), Omar Narvaez (.307) and Mallex Smith (.280) are all options tonight vs. Bassitt. Smith started the year a bit slow but has slightly improved with a .303 xwOBA over the past month; he projects to leadoff tonight. All Mariners bats are available at an affordable $4.4k or less on Draftkings tonight, on Fanduel they will be priced $3.7k and lower. The Mariners have a 4.41 implied total for this matchup.

San Francisco lineup boast four bats with a 140 or better wRC+ vs LHP over the last calendar year

Wei-Yin Chen will face a predominantly right-handed San Francisco lineup (seven of eight position players). Batters from that side have a .342 wOBA against him in limited work since last season, but xwOBA brings that mark down to .315, while Miami may be the most negative run environment in play. This combines to bring the Giants down to 4.19 runs via Vegas tonight, though they still boast four bats with a 140 wRC+ or better and .200+ ISO against LHP over the last calendar year. Buster Posey (140 wRC+, .203 ISO) and Andrew McCutchen (143 wRC+, .247 ISO) are top of the lineup guys, but Nick Hundley (172 wRC+, .333 ISO) and Mac Williamson (206 wRC+, .286 ISO) are more towards the bottom.

Offense To Attack In A Lower Total

Chen has struggled with right-handed hitters this season. He has a .382 wOBA with a .267 ISO and a 37.5% hard hit rate. He is more of a fly ball pitcher and benefits from this ballpark, but I still want to attack him in this spot. Mac Williamson and Evan Longoria are way underpriced for this matchup on FanDuel tonight, and they're both under $4K on DraftKings as well. Williamson has a .294 ISO with a .458 wOBA against lefties in a small sample size this season, but before getting hurt, he was on his way to a career season. He's starting to look great at the plate again.

Mac Williamson (neck stiffness) scratched Wednesday; Austin Jackson replaces

Williamson has been scratched from the San Francisco Giants original confirmed lineup and will not start in Tuesday's matchup with the Washington Nationals due to neck stiffness. He'll be replaced in the lineup by Austin Jackson, who will play center field and slot into the eighth spot in the order, moving Gregor Blanco to left field and sliding Brandon Crawford and Nick Hundley each up on spot in the lineup. It goes without saying that there have been some noteworthy changes to this Giants order, so be sure to check out the updated lineup on the Starting Lineups page as they face off against right-hander Max Scherzer this afternoon.

Eduardo Nunez (hamstring) scratched Thursday, Christian Arroyo now batting eighth

Nunez was scratched due to a hamstring issue. Arroyo was originally going to rest on Thursday, but he'll be back in the lineup due to Nunez's injury. He's not a strong target; in May, Arroyo has posted a .236 wOBA, .084 ISO, 56.5% GB%, and 29.0% Hard%. San Francisco will move Justin Ruggiano to sixth from seventh and Mac Williamson to seventh from eighth.

Mac Williamson (134 wRC+ vs RHP this year) bats 3rd for the Giants against a lefty tonight

Cody Reed has some strikeout ability (23.3 K%, 10.1 SwStr%), but a 39.8 Hard% has led to a nine HRs in six starts. Even with that, a 34.6 HR/FB is completely unsustainable. It was above 40% before his last start against Atlanta and a major park upgrade in San Francisco might help even more. The Giants also strike out a bit more vs LHP (18.9%). While all of this still may not be enough to take a chance on Reed, perhaps his $6.8K price tag on DraftKings doesn't look terrible on a two pitcher site. On the other hand, RHBs have a .421 wOBA and 43.2 Hard% against him so far. Buster Posey (146 wRC+, .203 ISO vs LHP since 2015) has to be considered one of the top Catchers tonight and costs $3.9K on either site. The other interesting thing is Mac Williamson (134 wRC, .280 ISO vs LHP this season) batting 3rd for just $2.6K on DraftKings, but Jarrett Parker was in a similarly good spot last night and was PH for after two trips to the plate.

Gregor Blanco scratched from lineup Tuesday, replaced by Mac Williamson

Blanco has been scratched from the Giants lineup tonight with a sore left knee. Mac Williamson replaces Blanco in the lineup and will bat eighth. Jarrett Parker gets the bump up to the two-hole and could make for a nice punt play as he has the platoon advantage and is relatively cheap on all sites.

Denard Span remains OUT of the lineup tonight versus LHP Patrick Corbin

Corbin (4,51 SIERA) is surrendering entirely too much hard contact this season (38.6% Hard%). He is had major problems with right handed batters particularly (4.68 xFIP, 5.5% K-BB%). The Giants get a major ball bark bump escaping AT&T Park in a matchup against Corbin at hitter-friendly Chase Field. The Giants also have some bats that can take advantage of Corbin and his hard contact problems. Buster Posey (150 wRC+, .387 wOBA, .213 ISO vs LHP) gets the nod as the top overall play in the Giants lineup. Brandon Belt (153 wRC+, .391 wOBA, .256 ISO vs LHP) is a great secondary play but gets knocked down a notch due to Corbin being more than competent versus LHBs. Mac Williamson (107 wRC+, .323 wOBA, .214 ISO vs LHP) gets a decent spot in the lineup and makes for a solid OF value play. Angel Pagan (108 wRC+, .325 wOBA vs LHP)) is a little pricey for his skill-set but can definitely be considered in Giants stacks.

Dillon Overton had a 3.9% K-BB% in his first MLB start

We don't have a lot of information to go on with Overton (5.60 SIERA) with him only making one career MLB start. Based on his peripherals and minor league statistics, he looks to be an average major league LHP. This is enough for us to target some Giants righty bats in tournaments, including the lefty-swinging, Brandon Belt (153 wRC+, .390 wOBA, .259 ISO vs LHP). We can also look to Buster Posey (147 wRC+, .382 wOBA, .184 ISO vs LHP) as great catcher pivot in tournaments. Mac Williamson (122 wRC+, .345 wOBA, 231 ISO vs LHP) is also a great outfield punt option getting the bump up to sixth in the batting order. Perhaps even Angel Pagan is an option batting in the two-hole for the Giants tonight.

Sean Manaea set to make return from DL, allowing .377 wOBA, 5.14 xFIP to RHB

Manaea (4.54 SIERA) has actually pitched better than his 6.02 ERA would indicate. His main issues have been a high 11.1% BB% and massive struggles against right handed batters. As bad as Manaea has been against RHB, he's been the exact opposite against LHB. This is enough for us to avoid the Giants lefties entirely outside of maybe Brandon Belt (152 wRC+, .389 wOBA, .256 ISO vs LHP). We can look to Buster Posey (139 wRC+, .370 wOBA, .178 ISO vs LHP) as great catcher pivot in tournaments. Mac Williamson (122 wRC+, .345 wOBA, 240 ISO vs LHP) is also a decent outfield punt option batting seventh.
