Malcolm Delaney Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
John Collins (ankle) listed questionable Friday; Malcolm Delaney (ankle) remains out
Collins has been listed as questionable on the Atlanta Hawks' injury report for Friday's game against the Golden State Warriors due to a sprained right ankle that has already forced him to miss two consecutive games. Meanwhile, Malcolm Delaney will remain sidelined for the ninth straight game because of a sprained left ankle. Mike Muscala has started at power forward the last two contests and has averaged 26 minutes per game, making him the leading candidate to continue starting if Collins is eventually ruled out closer to tipoff. With Dennis Schroder set to return from a one-game absence due to rest purposes and Delaney unavailable, Isaiah Taylor will head back to the bench to resume a reserve role after logging 26 minutes and easily exceeding salary-based expectations in Thursday's loss. Additionally, Damion Lee officially signed a second 10-day contract earlier this afternoon and figures to start his third consecutive game at shooting guard.
Malcolm Delaney (knee strain) available to play Wednesday
Delaney participated in just a portion of Tuesday's practice but is still available to play in Wednesday's game against the Indiana Pacers, according to head coach Mike Budenholzer, after previously being listed as questionable on the Atlanta Hawks' injury report with a strained right knee that has forced him to miss two consecutive games. However, even though Delaney is listed as active, Budenholzer didn't definitively guarantee with reporters during his pregame media availability that he would play tonight and left open the possibility that he could make his actual return to the court in Friday's contest. Additionally, DeAndre Bembry remains sidelined with a strained abdominal muscle for the second straight game, and his absence combined with Delaney's enabled Tyler Dorsey and Isaiah Taylor to combine for 45 minutes of the bench, though a portion of that can be attributed to the fact that Dennis Schroder logged just 26 minutes as the starting point guard.
Malcolm Delaney (ankle) available to play Monday, as expected
Delaney is officially available to play in tonight's game against the Boston Celtics after previously being listed as probable on the Atlanta Hawks' injury report with a sprained right ankle that had forced him to miss two consecutive games. The Hawks also listed Dennis Schroder and Marco Belinelli as probable with their respective ailments but both guards will suit up, as expected, and should see their normal minute workloads. Delaney will presumably reclaim his normal backup point guard role behind Schroder, but with Mike Muscala, Ersan Ilyasova, DeAndre Bembry, and Miles Plumlee all still sidelined, the Hawks have a significant minute void to fill at power forward, which looks likely to be mostly filled by Luke Babbitt once again, who saw an unthinkable 42 minutes of action in Sunday's contest.
Malcolm Delaney (sprained right ankle) probable Monday
Delaney has officially been listed as probable on the Atlanta Hawks' injury report for tonight's game against the Boston Celtics with a sprained right ankle that had forced him to miss two consecutive games. The Hawks also listed Dennis Schroder and Marco Belinelli as probable with their respective ailments but have done so before every game for an extended period of time, so we should fully expect them to play without any limitations until further notice. Delaney will presumably reclaim his normal backup point guard role behind Schroder, but with Mike Muscala, Ersan Ilyasova, DeAndre Bembry, and Miles Plumlee all still sidelined, the Hawks have a significant minute void to fill at power forward, which looks likely to be filled by Luke Babbitt once again, who saw an unthinkable 42 minutes of action in Sunday's contest.
Malcolm Delaney (sprained right ankle) questionable for Sunday
Delaney will travel with the team but is considered as questionable on the Atlanta Hawks' injury report for tomorrow's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers with a sprained right ankle that has already forced him to miss one game. Should Delaney be unavailable, Isaiah Taylor would likely assume the backup point guard duties once again behind Dennis Schroder and played 25 minutes in Friday's contest. Meanwhile, Dennis Schroder should also see a slight increase in playing time, despite his lackluster performance in the previous game, which would add to his appeal in daily fantasy formats on Friday's slate.
Malcolm Delaney (sprained right ankle) officially ruled out Friday
Delaney has been ruled out and won't play in tonight's game against the Houston Rockets after previously being listed as doubtful on the Atlanta Hawks' injury report with a sprained right ankle he sustained during Wednesday's contest, forcing him to exit early. Meanwhile, the trio of Dennis Schroder, Mike Muscala, and Marco Belinelli are all good to go once again despite each appearing on the injury report with probable designations. With Delaney unavailable, Isaiah Taylor will likely assume the backup point guard duties behind Dennis Schroder, who should also see a slight increase in playing time, adding to his appeal in daily fantasy formats on Friday's slate.
Malcolm Delaney (sprained right ankle) doubtful for Friday
Delaney has officially been listed as doubtful on the Atlanta Hawks' injury report for tomorrow's game against the Houston Rockets with a sprained right ankle he sustained during Wednesday's contest, forcing him to exit early. Meanwhile, the trio of Dennis Schroder, Mike Muscala, and Marco Belinelli have all been listed as probable with their respective ailments for approximately the 18th game in a row (not actually accurate) and all three are fully expected to play once again. With Delaney likely out, Isaiah Taylor would likely assume the backup point guard duties behind Dennis Schroder, who may also see a slight increase in playing time, adding to his appeal in daily fantasy formats on Friday's slate.
Malcolm Delaney and Mike Muscala confirmed as starters for Dennis Schroder (foot) and Ersan Ilyasova (knee) Monday
Schroder sustained a foot injury during Sunday's contest against the Brooklyn Nets and has officially been ruled out for tonight's game against the Miami Heat after previously being considered as unlikely. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI today on his injured foot but it is believed by the team that he suffered a bone bruise. With Schroder unavailable, Malcolm Delaney will draw the start at point guard and will set up as one of the better value options on Monday's slate at any position. Schroder leads the Hawks in usage rate so far this season so there will be plenty of opportunities there for the taking for the rest of the starting unit and even Kent Bazemore off the bench. Additionally, Ersan Ilyasova was ruled out in advance of Monday's contest with a strained left knee, and his absence will open more minutes and opportunity for John Collins, who has averaged well over a fantasy point per minute this season, and even Mike Muscala, who will draw the start at power forward, in the Hawks' frontcourt.
Chalk Value You Have to Play
I'm not one for playing the chalk, but I can't get past playing Delaney tonight. Delaney and Schroder have played most of the minutes at point guard this season, and without Schroder tonight, I'm expecting a big bump for Delaney. Schroder has a 36.7% usage rate in 67 minutes this season, and while I'm not expecting all of that usage to go to Delaney, I do see him getting a nice bump.
Paul Millsap (knee), Kent Bazemore (knee), Tim Hardaway Jr. (knee), and Malcolm Delaney (back) all probable for Thursday
All these guys played last game outside Malcolm Delaney, who has missed the last four contests. Millsap and Bazemore came off the bench and they could possibly do the same tomorrow. Even if Millsap does, he'll cut into Ersan Ilyasova's minutes, which takes away his value. Howard had some big games when Millsap was on the sidelines, but his upside is lower with him back and he sees a slight downtick in usage and average fantasy production.
