Goalie seeks his 29th win of the season
Martin Jones sits second in the league in wins (28), trailing only Marc-Andre Fleury (29). While Boston has a solid team, they are still without David Pastrnak who is such a weapon with the man-advantage. Additionally, the Boston Bruins are averaging just 2.36 goals per game on the road this season which is by far the worst number in the Eastern Conference. The Sharks have lost in regulation on home ice just four times in 28 contests, so at the very least, Jones should have a good chance of picking up another win. He makes sense in all formats on a slate with no stand out netminder.
Boom or Bust Goalie For GPPs
If you're looking for a high-risk, high-reward goalie tonight, consider taking Martin Jones, who has rebounded from a poor start to the year with a .929 SV% over his last 10 games. He'll have a great opportunity to improve upon his recent success tonight taking on a Blackhawks team that has struggled to score despite regularly outshooting their opponents this season. In a game San Jose should play at a rapid pace, with plenty of shots exchanged between both teams, paying up for Jones could pay dividends with plenty of low percentage shots likely thrown his way.
This team is on a back to back, but still in a great spot to put up the win
Martin Jones will be between the pipes for the San Jose Sharks tonight, and although they are on the road, their matchup against the Vancouver Canucks is solid. The Canucks have just a 52.54 CF/60, which is the third worst in the NHL. They also are producing just 28.96 shots per game and 2.59 goals per game, both are third worst in the NHL. So Jones may be in for a light night in terms of shot volume, but due to the Canucks lack of scoring, the win should come a lot easier too. Jones has a 2.49 goals against average and .915 save percentage which are just average numbers, but against a team like Vancouver there should not be any concern. The Sharks should pick up the win and Jones is one of the safest goalies on the slate and has tournament winning upside.
Pay Up To Be Contrarian With This Goalie
If you're looking for a high-risk, high-reward goalie tonight, consider taking Martin Jones, who has struggled since his return from injury a few games ago. He'll have a great opportunity to bounce back tonight however; taking on a Carolina Hurricanes team that has struggled to score despite regularly outshooting their opponents this season. In a game San Jose should be able to dictate the pace, paying up for Jones could pay dividends with plenty of low percentage shots likely thrown his way.
Look for this goalie to tame the Florida Panthers
If you require a little more salary, Charlie Lindgren is a worthwhile option in cash games as he takes on the disastrous Desert Dogs of Arizona who have a pathetic two wins in 20 attempts this season. Martin Jones is always a solid option in cash games, especially when playing at home ice as he is as steady as goalies go. On this young season, Martin Jones is 8-4 with a 2.13 GAA and .925 SV%. Jones is backed by statistically the best defense in the National Hockey League as the San Jose Sharks are allowing just 2.25 goals per game. Florida figures to struggle throughout the season on the road, and although the Sharks tend to play down to their competition, Jones represents a safe option in cash games. Look for him to allow two goals or less and pick up the all-important victory.
Two Solid Goalie Options In Cash Games
Finding a goaltender to trust tonight in cash games is a difficult task. We have plenty of high upside options for tournaments, but trying to find a guaranteed win is a bit more of a challenge tonight. With that being said, both Corey Crawford and Martin Jones top my list this evening. The Chicago Blackhawks and the San Jose Sharks are the two biggest favorites on the board tonight, and both should come away with a win on home ice. Crawford (2.12 GAA, .935 SV%) and Jones (2.27 GAA, .925 SV%) have both been solid in goal, and even though I dont see either registering a shutout this evening, they are both safe options for your cash game lineup.
Top goalie tonight!
It is another difficult night to fall in love with any goalie, but with the San Jose Sharks being the biggest favorite by far tonight, Martin Jones moves to the top of our list for cash games. Although he has struggled so far this season, Jones was solid on home ice last year (2.16 GAA, .916 SV%), and I think we see him bounce back tonight with his first strong performance of the 2017-18 season. The Buffalo Sabres ranked 24th overall in goals per game during the 2016-17 campaign and they are up to their old tricks again in 2017-18, averaging just 2.33 goals per game, good for 29th overall. Look for the win and 25-plus saves from Jones this evening.
Who is top option in goal on opening night?
Martin Jones has a very reasonable price tag across the industry and he should be one of the biggest favorites come opening night. The San Jose Sharks’ goaltender posted solid ratios in 2016-17, and he was at his best when playing on home ice (2.16 GAA, .916 SV%). The Philadelphia Flyers failed to gain any momentum whatsoever on the road last season, posting a 14-22-5 record. The Flyers also struggled to score away from home, ranking 22nd overall in goals per game (2.32). With the Sharks’ solid defensive game, the Flyers should have difficulties putting the puck in the net tonight. Jones should once again be a safe cash game option to build around in 2017-18, and he is my top option in goal tonight on this four-game slate.
