Martin Kaymer Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Martin Kaymer looks to finally be healthy

With two major wins and a Players Championship in the span of a four year period Martin Kaymer had positioned himself to be one of the top players in the game. Winless since his 2014 U.S. Open victory, Kaymer is playing in this week's Honda Classic and appears to finally have a lingering wrist injury behind him. Kaymer loves this type of golf course and if healthy has a proven track record of playing hard golf courses well. Priced down due to a prolonged period of substandard play, Kaymer is a value play that can be had at very low ownership. With 4 top 25 or better finishes in his last seven worldwide starts, Kaymer appears to be headed in the right direction ahead of this week's event. Like many other tour players, Kaymer has a home base in Florida so he is very much at home on courses that feature Bermuda grass.

Martin Kaymer no longer in the field

Martin Kaymer withdrew his entry in this week's RBC Canadian Open this morning. Kaymer who is not exempt into next week's WGC event will opt to take the next two weeks off ahead of the PGA Championship.

Martin Kaymer set to return from injury

Former Master Champion Martin Kaymer will make his return to the PGA Tour this week. Kaymer has been sidelined for the last month and a half due to a wrist injury. One of the more active players on Twitter, Kaymer has kept the public in the loop in terms of the progress of his injury. With multiple updates over the past few week's Kaymer, looks ready to compete in his week's Houston Open. Prior to his injury, Kaymer managed to post a few decent starts on the European Tour, but his lack of playing time and uncertainty of injury will keep many off him this week. When healthy Kaymer is a talent worth keeping an eye on, and at $7,100 could be a great GPP dark horse this week.

Martin Kaymer has withdrawn from the next two events

Early this morning Martin Kaymer posted via his official Facebook page that a bad shoulder will keep him out of the next two events. The timing of the injury is very unfortunate for Kaymer. Not only will he miss this week's WGC, but he will also not make next week's PGA Championship. Leading into this week, Kaymer had been in solid form. In 10 PGA tour events, this season Kaymer had 5 top 25 or better finishes.

A past champion understands the value of a good start

Winning on the PGA tour is never an easy thing, and winning after a less than desirable start is something that all tour players look to avoid. Long known as the year’s fifth major championship, this week carries more pressure than a normal tour stop. The Players Championship will always have one of the strongest fields of the year and to win at TPC Sawgrass players must perform well in the first round. In the last ten years, the eventual winner has started no worse than 4 shots off the lead. Four times in the last ten years we have seen the eventual first round leader go on to win The Players Championship. Major weeks are all about pressure, and it’s important for players to start off well. Playing from too far behind can often be too much of a daunting task. We are looking to target players that have a decent history of playing well in the first round. In route to his 2014 Players Championship victory, Martin Kaymer posted an amazing opening round of 63. Exceptional rounds on tour are often outliers, and while it’s nice to shoot an opening round of 63, we can’t reasonably draw much from just one round. However, a study of the last ten years of the Players Championship reveals that Kaymer has one of the lower first round scoring averages. In eight attempts at TPC Sawgrass, this two-time major winner has a first-round scoring average of 69.3. When you factor in a somewhat predicted lower ownership and a reasonable price, Kaymer becomes a great play in all formats for the Players Championship.
