Matt Hasselbeck practices, probable for this week
Hasselbeck continues to battle through injuries but practiced today and appears on track to play this weekend against the Dolphins who are 22nd in QB DvP and 27th in WR DvP. Hasselbeck could be an intriguing GPP play but the worries of him being able to finish game make it hard to roster him.
Matt Hasselbeck expected to start in Week 16
The fact that this is good news for the Colts receivers goes to show just how bad Charlie Whitehurst is. Hasselbeck is 40 years old and said after the Houston game that he's got nothing left in the tank, so the Colts offense is best avoided this week, especially considering they are now on the outside looking in at the playoff picture. T.Y. Hilton still has some contrarian upside in a good match-up with the Dolphins secondary, but it's really hard to put much faith in any of the receivers with Hasselbeck under center.
Andrew Luck ruled out for Week 16
No real surprise here. The Colts no longer have playoff hopes and won't push Luck unless they have to. Matt Hasselbeck is dealing with a number of his own ailments and is clearly very beaten up, so it's possible the Colts turn to Charlie Whitehurst this week. If that's the case, no one on the Colts offense is playable in DFS. While the match-up with the Dolphins is a good one for the Colts WRs, it'll be very tough to have any confidence in them if Whitehurst is under center. Matt Hasselbeck would make Hilton and Moncrief stronger options, but they'd still be GPP-only targets.
Matt Hasselbeck returns to practice, in line to play Sunday
After a day off for "maintenance", Matt Hasselbeck returned to practice today and looks as if he will get the start Sunday against the Houston Texans. The Texans are tough against the pass (#14 in QB DvP and #3 in WR DvP) and there are better value options at QB than the veteran Hasselbeck.
Matt Hasselbeck practices again
The Colts QB practiced for the second straight day and appears to be on track to play this weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars in what should be a relatively high scoring game. This is good news for players like T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief as they get to attack a Jaguars defense vulnerable to the pass (21st in WR DvP and 25th in QB DvP).
Matt Hasselbeck on track to play this weekend
The Colts current starting QB went through a full practice today and is on track to play this weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars. It's a good match up for Hasselback as the Jags are 25th in QB DvP and even better news for the likes of T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief as they won't have to deal with Charlie Whitehurst under the helm if Hasselbeck plays.
Colts expect Matt Hasselbeck to start in Week 14
Andrew Luck remains "week-to-week" and won't play on Sunday, but could return for Week 15. Hasselbeck wasn't able to finish Sunday's game which led to Clipboard Jesus seeing some time on the field, but the Colts outlook would be much worse if he was forced to start on Sunday. Hasselbeck at least gives the passing game a chance for success, although it's still harder to justify rostering guys like T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief outside of GPPs with Hasselbeck at the helm. Hilton has had a handful of strong games with Andrew Luck out, and he is a solid bounce back candidate against the Jags on Sunday. He saw 13 targets the first time these teams faced off (with Hasselbeck starting), but finished with just 7-67-0 in that contest.
