Mike Gillislee Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Patriots Have Been In Contact With Running Back Mike Gillislee

This would be a move that puts a damper on Sony Michel moving forward. Gillislee could very well come in and be the goal line RB.

Mike Gillislee Lands at #2 on the Depth Chart

It is an unofficial depth chart, but Mike Gillislee checks in at #2 behind Kamara. It is interesting because the Saints can be unorthodox at times with Running Back Usage, so perhaps Gillislee takes on an impactful role in Week 1. He deserves to be in consideration on non-PPR sites.

Mike Gillislee Signs One-Year Deal with Saints

Former Patriots Rb Mike Gillislee has signed a 1yr deal with the Saints. He will be in line to get the goal line work, in Mark Ingram's absence over the first 4 games of the season. The addition of a 3rd Rb to the starting roster makes a lot of sense with them only having Alvin Kamara and rookie Boston Scott heading into Week 1. Jonathan Williams, who was expected to make the team, has agreed to join their practice squad. The addition of Gillislee lowers Kamara's Week 1 DFS value, and makes Scott basically irrelevant. Kamara is the only Rb I'm interested in until Mark Ingram returns, or one of the other two show that they're going to be trusted enough to get a relevant workload.

Mike Gillislee Released by Pats

Mike Gillilsee has become a casualty of the 53-man roster limit today, as the Pats have released him. It's always a guessing game when we're trying to pick the right NE RB to put in our lineups week-to-week, so this should add *some* clarity. Jeremy Hill should now be getting the short-yardage and goal line work, James White and rookie Sony Michel left to split some carries and most of the passing down work.

Mike Gillislee, Kenny Britt, Alan Branch inactive for NE; Dannell Ellerbe active for PHI

No real surprises here. For those playing Super Bowl contests, Gillislee won't factor into the Patriots backfield mix and Kenny Britt isn't going to steal any snaps from Cooks, Hogan, Amendola or Dorsett.

Rex Burkhead (knee) will play Sunday; Mike Gillislee (knee) will be inactive

Burkhead will play, as expected, in today's AFC Championship game against the Jacksonville Jaguars after previously being listed as questionable on the New England Patriots' injury report with a knee injury that had kept him sidelined since Week 15, a total of four weeks, while Mike Gillislee will be inactive due to a knee injury. Burkhead hasn't been able to participate fully in any practices since sustaining the injury, a major concern for his effectiveness and potential workload in Sunday's contest. It's obviously impossible to predict what the Patriots or head coach Bill Belichick will do on a game-to-game basis, but it seems awfully difficult to imagine Dion Lewis losing his lead-back role with Burkhead returning from such an extended absence and appearing to be less than fully healthy. The problem now arises that Lewis is priced appropriately across the industry, and if Burkhead eats into his volume from the last three games, even marginally, it may end up being enough to prevent him from reaching salary-based expectations in daily fantasy formats this afternoon.

Rex Burkhead (knee) and Mike Gillislee (knee) inactive Saturday; James White (ankle) active, as expected

Burkhead and Gillislee are officially inactive and won't play in tonight's Divisional Round game against the Tennessee Titans after previously being listed as questionable on the New England Patriots' injury report and not expected to suit up with their respective knee injuries. Meanwhile, James White is active, as expected, in wake of his earlier questionable designation, meaning that the Patriots backfield will now consist of White, Dion Lewis, and special-teamer Brandon Bolden this evening. Even with White likely reclaiming his usual third-down role, Lewis should continue to see close to the massive usage he absorbed the last few weeks of the regular season, equating to 25 carries and five receptions per game over that span. Lewis may experience a small dip targets with White active, but the Patriots are still huge 13.5-point home favorites and should lead to a substantial workload in the running game and ample goal-line opportunities as well.

Rex Burkhead officially questionable but making progress

According to Jeff Howe, a beat writer for The Boston Herald, Patriots running back Rex Burkhead made progress today and it appears there's a "very real possibility" he is back after missing Weeks 16 and 17. Both Mike Gillislee and James White are listed as questionable for Saturday night, but the team expects White to suit up. Gillislee is trending on the wrong side of questionable, but with Burkhead back he would have very little chance to play even if he was healthy. There is still a better than average chance that Dion Lewis carries the workload for the Patriots this week, as he has been an absolute tear over the final few weeks of the season.

Mike Gillislee returns to practice on Thursday

In somewhat of a surprise, Mike Gillislee returned to the practice field for the first time in over three weeks. Unless Rex Burkhead is somehow unable to suit up, then Gillislee should be a scratch this weekend.

Rex Burkhead could be limited if he plays this week

According to Patriots beef writer Jeff Howe, Rex Burkhead looked very limited in practice today. The Patriots running back practiced with a brace on his knee and was very limited due to the restrictions of that brace. Howe seems to think that if Burkhead plays this week then he would be very limited. If Burkhead were to miss then we could potentially see another massive workload for Dion Lewis, as he dominated touches for this team over the last few weeks. The backfield situation for the Patriots is worth monitoring moving forward. James White should play this week, but Mike Gillislee missed practice yet again and is looking less likely to play this weekend.
