Sophomore defenseman coming off big game

Mikhail Sergachev was a popular choice last night against Ottawa, and the young defenseman did not disappoint, firing six shots on goal in route to a goal and an assist. While the road matchup is not ideal, the injury to Victor Hedman puts Sergachev squarely on the map given his role on the top power play unit for Tampa Bay. Sergachev checks in at just $4,200 on DraftKings and $4,300 on FanDuel. Look for him to find the scoresheet once again along with a couple shots on goal.

Second year blue liner coming alive recently

While Sergachev's ice time fluctuates, he has been efficient in January with five points (2G, 3A) in six games while taking 14 shots on goal. In a game that should be played at another frenetic pace, much like the Maple Leafs and Lightning first meeting on 12/13, Sergachev could continue his hot streak. Sergachev costs just over $4,000 on both DraftKings and FanDuel which opens up salary to grab some of the high-upside forwards in tournaments. Look for both teams to hit the back of the net multiple times.

Budding blue liner draws dream matchup against Senators

Sergachev's numbers won't jump out to most as he has a modest five assists in 16 contests, but he is a talented defenseman that posted 40 points (9G, 31A) in 79 games last season while logging just 15:22 of ice time per game. This season, Mikhail is averaging two minutes more of ice time and sports a stellar 56.74 CF% at 5-on-5, which is in line with his mark from his rookie season. With Victor Hedman out, veteran Ryan McDonagh is getting all the top power play minutes, but in a game where the Lightning should be good for a bundle of goals, it is only a matter of time before we start seeing Sergachev stuff the scoresheet. His price is very attractive across the industry (DraftKings - $3,600 & FanDuel - $4,000).

**Edit @ 11:11 - Victor Hedman is expected to be back tonight which lowers Sergachev's value a bit. He is still worthy of a roster spot, though it seems it won't be his time to shine yet**

Injury to Victor Hedman creates opportunity for young Lightning defenseman

With the injury to Victor Hedman, Mikhail Sergachev will be asked to step up, at least offensively, for the Tampa Bay Lightning. The first game did not go as expected, in fact it was a disaster as Sergachev finished a miserable -6 and failed to find the scoresheet in a 7-1 clobbering by the Coyotes. Back at home, the youngster will be eager to bounce back. The Lightning made quick work of the Devils in the 2017-18 playoffs, winning the series in five games while scoring 18 goals in the process. Nikita Kucherov was the biggest factor as he had five goals and five assists in those five games. With Sergachev asked to fill Hedman's shoes on the team's top power play featuring Kucherov and Steven Stamkos, it truly is a time for Sergachev to shine. He is moderately priced across the industry and a worthy target in tournaments.

Hedman's injury opens the door for this young defenseman

With Victor Hedman lost to an upper body injury sustained in last night's game, 20-year-old Mikhail Sergachev will be handed as many minutes as he can handle tonight against the Arizona Coyotes. He's racked up four assists over the first nine games of the season and figures to take over the duties on the point of Tampa's lethal top power-play unit. With Arizona owning a subpar 79.5% penalty kill last season, Sergachev should easily exceed value tonight as this modest price-point.

Pivot To This Second Line In Tournaments

If you're looking to differentiate your lineup from the masses that will likely be rostering Tampa's top line, consider pivoting to the second line which features Point, Gourde, and Johnson. With a combined 23 points over their past 10 games, this line draws a fantastic matchup against an Ottawa squad that has allowed the most shot attempts and he scoring chances among road teams over their past 25 games. Brayden Point meanwhile leads all skaters in on ice scoring chances among home forwards on tonight's slate. In a game Tampa Bay should dominate from start to finish, expect another solid performance from this underrated trio to easily pay off their manageable price tags.

Don't Sleep On This Second Line Tonight

If you're looking to differentiate your lineup from the masses that will likely be rostering Tampa's top line, consider rostering the second line which features Point, Gourde, and the newly acquired J.T. Miller. Fresh off a multipoint effort in their last game, this line draws a fantastic matchup against a depleted Rangers team that allows the most shot attempts, the most scoring chances, and owns the worst xGA/60 over their last 15 games. Brayden Point meanwhile trails only Connor McDavid in on ice scoring chances among home skaters on tonight's slate. In a game Tampa Bay should dominate from start to finish, expect another solid performance from this underrated trio to easily pay off their manageable price tags.

This is one of the best young defensemen in the NHL

Although he has slowed down from his torrid start to the NHL season, Mikhail Sergachev is still a great play tonight. Tampa Bay may not stack their top unit, which gives their second unit some offensive punch still. Sergachev quarterbacks this unit and is in a great spot to get on the score sheet against the Buffalo Sabres this evening. At just $3,800 on DraftKings and $4,300 on FanDuel, Sergachev is a fantastic bargain across the industry with offensive upside.

An injury to Victor Hedman gives this defenseman a huge boost

With Victor Hedman out, Mikhail Sergachev will get a huge boost for the Tampa Bay Lightning. On the season, Sergachev has averaged just 15 minutes of ice time per game, however in the last two games (one where Hedman got hurt and the first game without him), Sergachev has played over 21 minutes. This includes quarterbacking on of the best power plays in the league. The Lightning have the third best PP in the NHL, converting 24.4 percent of their opportunities. As the Lightning are visiting the Minnesota Wild, this is not the most ideal matchup. However, with an increased role for Sergachev he is still relatively cheap across the industry which makes him a great, albeit it potentially chalky play.

New responsibilities create opportunity for this 19-year-old

He may not be considered cheap, but he's way underpriced considering his new responsibilities. With Victor Hedman landing on IR, John Cooper will be forced to rely on his rookie blue-liner as much as possible. Sergachev was the ninth overall draft pick in the 2016 draft and has racked up 26 points over his first 44 career NHL games. The 19-year-old will take over as the point-man on Tampa's #1 power-play unit and should have no trouble exceeding value despite a relatively tough matchup awaiting him against the Golden Knights.
