Goalie draws nice spot against upset-minded visitors

The Kings, to the surprise of many, doused the Flames last night 3-0 in Calgary. A team lacking depth and with no rest, the Kings figure to struggle to duplicate their performance tonight in Edmonton. While there is nothing attractive about Edmonton's defensive capabilities, Mikko Koskinen has been solid on home ice, going 13-7-2 with a 2.51 GAA and .920 SV% (a stark contrast from his .896 SV% on the road). Koskinen checks in at a very attractive $7,800 on FanDuel and his price on DraftKings ($7,900) is certainly playable too. The Kings are averaging the second-fewest goals per game (2.14 GF/G) on the road, and Edmonton is allowing 30-plus shots against per contest. Koskinen works in all formats.

Cheap goalie should minimize damage at home

Mikko Koskinen checks in at just $7,300 on FanDuel despite being the home goalie in the game with the lowest total of the evening. Connor McDavid is suspended for tonight's contest, but Koskinen draws a great matchup against the National Hockey League's worst offense. Additionally, the Ducks just played a grinder last night in Calgary. While the Oilers have their woes, Koskinen has been solid at Rogers Place, going 9-6-1 with a 2.50 GAA and .921 SV%. He also has three shutouts on home ice. Koskinen is priced more appropriately on DraftKings, but he still checks in as a top-five goalie option tonight given the Ducks' offensive struggles. Ryan Getzlaf also did not play last night which hurts the Anaheim offense even more.

Can the Edmonton 30 year old goalie stay hot?

Mikko Koskinen of the Edmonton Oilers posted the first shut out of his career as he turned back 40 Chicago Blackhawk shots on Thursday night. His other start came against the Nashville Predators back on October 27th where he turned aside 24 of 27 shots for the win and 19.2 points on FanDuel. Tonight he faces a team in Detroit that has only generated 28 shots per game as Edmonton has been inserted by Vegas as a -140 this evening. The hope here is that Detroit does indeed get their 28 shots on goal but not score as many as Nashville did on the 27th. The extra money you save will easily help you get other the other studs you will need to put you up and over the top this evening.

Goalie seeks to take advantage of situational spot

Patrick Kane missed last night's contest against the Vancouver Canucks, so as of Thursday morning, his status is still up in the air. If he misses, it would be a nice boost to Edmonton and Cam Talbot. The Blackhawks have dropped three consecutive games, and while Talbot has been hit or miss recently, allowing four goals last time out, preceded by allowing one goal, one goal, and six goals in a wild game against the Penguins, it is a great spot for the Oilers and him. Talbot has a good chance of piling up the saves and the win, backed by the unstoppable number 97, much like last Sunday when Talbot made 31 saves on 32 shots for the overtime victory at the United Center.

**Edit @ 12:45 - Talbot will get the night off as Mikko Koskinen is set to get his second start of the season. The Finnish netminder posted a 22-4-1 record with a 1.57 goals against average and .937 save percentage in 29 appearances for SKA St. Petersburg in the Kontinental Hockey League last season. Koskinen is technically sound and has a lot of experience playing for the Finnish national team. This is a great spot for the Oilers off a home loss, and Koskinen checks in at just $7,300 on both DraftKings and FanDuel**
