New Orleans Saints Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

The Saints Will be Without Three Starters in Their Secondary Today

The Saints will be extremely shorthanded in their talented secondary, so the Panthers' Will Grier, Curtis Samuel, and Jarius Wright all see bumps in their respective projections. However, because of other value on the slate, none are appealing GPP options today.

Marshon Lattimore Active for Saints

Marshon Lattimore is active for the Saints. This will hurt the Falcons, who are already without Julio Jones.

Saints CB Marshon Lattimore is Out Today Vs. the Panthers

Saints CB Marshon Lattimore is Out Today Vs. the Panthers

Saints CB Marshon Lattimore (Hamstring) is not Expected to Play Today, May Return Against the Falcons on Thursday Night Football

With Lattimore likely out today, D.J. Moore could be in for another good game against the Saints. While the Saints are a great defense, ranking 27th in FPs allowed to receivers and eighth in pass DVOA, they allow the highest passing percentage in the NFL. Thus, Kyle Allen may have to throw a lot with the Panthers expected to be trailing in this game. Over the last three games, D.J. Moore has a 32% target share and a 39% air yards share, and we have him projected for a 25% target share today.

Marshon Lattimore (Hamstring) Out vs. Buccaneers

Marshon Lattimore has been ruled out for the Saints, which should boost Mike Evans. Earlier this season the Saints held Evans to his only catch-less game of the year so far, but he should see more favorable matchups this time.

Seahawks DT Poona Ford and DE Ziggy Ansah Set to Play Sunday

The Seahawks get an enormous boost to their defensive line this Sunday, with Ford back and Ansah ready to make his Seahawks debut. Ansah has been one of the league's better pass rushers for years, and now we will get the chance to see him and Jadeveon Clowney get after the Saints backup QBs.

The Seahawks defense, which currently ranks 13th in DVOA, makes for a nice point-per-dollar option across the industry as its price is set as if Saints QB Drew Brees will be under center.

A few D/ST units ripe for a bounce back performance

Oh boy were things bad for the Saints defense in Week 1. Getting completely shredded by Ryan Fitzpatrick is not a good look. They are a really nice D/ST bounce-back candidate in tournaments thanks to some vulnerability in the form of the Browns tackles - most notably LT Desmond Harrison, who handles Tyrod's blind side. One poor game is not enough to make us think this still isn’t one of the league’s better defenses.

Despite a road meeting with Tampa, the Eagles are another D/ST unit that's very likely to go overlooked. Darren Sproles' absence doesn't help, but they should still give Ryan Fitzpatrick considerably more trouble than he had in Week 1. It's risky to bet on Tampa to keep up even a similar level of offensive production.

Lock In This Defense On FanDuel

I think this is only the second time I have made a defense a Core Play in cash games this season, but the fact of the matter is that the Saints are just too cheap on FanDuel. Salary notwithstanding, they are one of the top defenses to target anyways considering they are facing a Jets team that has Bryce Petty making his first start of the season at what should be a raucous Superdome. It also doesn't help that the Jets offensive line has the highest adjusted sack rate in the league. Then when we factor in that the Saints defense is only the seventh most expensive defense on FanDuel, it becomes obvious that they are the cash game play. Furthermore, their salary relief goes a long way in jamming in the Killer B's from Pittsburgh.

Mark Ingram, CB Marshon Lattimore, S Marcus Williams, and LT Terron Armstead questionable for Week 14

Ingram didn't practice the past two days due to a toe injury. If he ends up sitting this one out, it would provide Alvin Kamara more snaps and touches. On paper, it's one of the best spots for Kamara as the Falcons are allowing the most receptions (6.5/g) and third-most receiving TDs to RBs (0.33/g). The rookie sensation leads RBs in yards per route run by a wide margin (2.65, per PFF) and he's third overall, trailing only Julio Jones Antonio Brown. He's now caught 5+ passes for five straight weeks while scoring three receiving TDs during that stretch. Kamara has also been strong on the ground, averaging 7.0 yards per carry and 4.2 yards after contact, but he's only picked up double-digit carries in three games. If Ingram misses time, it'll be his first crack at a workhorse role. Fortunately for him, the Falcons are 21st in adjusted line yards (per FO). If Lattimore, PFF's third cover corner, is able to play it would make things tougher for Julio Jones. Lattimore is allowing the fourth-fewest fantasy points per route among CBs playing in Week 14 (0.13, per PFF).

Saints CB Marshon Lattimore, S Marcus Williams, and LT Terron Armstead are practicing Tuesday

New Orleans appears to be getting healthier as they head into their Thursday night showdown with the Falcons as all three players were given DNPs yesterday. Lattimore is dealing with an ankle injury which caused him to miss the past two games. He was still expected to play Week 13 but the team opted to be cautious with their star corner. On a short week, it's possible they keep him sidelined for another week but his return today makes him questionable. Lattimore's presence would be a downgrade for Julio Jones. The CB has earned PFF's third-best coverage grade while holding opposing passers to the third-lowest rating (47.4).
