Ondrej Kase Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
This winger has been fantastic since returning from injury.
Ondrej Kase didn't play his first game until November 12th, but he's amassed 19 points in 25 games including a team-leading 11 goals (tied with Pontus Aberg). He has spent some time on the top line with Ryan Getzlaf and Rickard Rakell, but he is currently slated to play on the Anaheim Ducks "third" line with Nick Ritchie and Adam Henrique. Taking on an Ottawa Senators team that allows a league-worst 67.0 CA/60 and has a 43.86 CF% which also ranks 31st. Kase plays on the top power play unit but Henrique and Ritchie play on the second unit which allows for a mini-correlation there.
Injuries are starting to hurt this team but the top line is still in play.
With Rickard Rakell going down with an injury, we have a new-look top line in Anaheim. Ryan Getzlaf will be centering Ondrej Kase and Pontus Aberg on the ducks top line. Kase has been great since returning from injury with 11 points in 14 games including 10 in his last 10. Aberg and Kase play on the same power play unit, but it's PP2 which is a bit discouraging but it still makes for a viable and somewhat cheap two-man stack. They host the Dallas Stars who have struggled over the last three weeks allowing 60.51 CA/60 which is the fourth-worst and struggled with possession with just a 46.14 CF% which ranks 27th.
You can add the Anaheim Ducks to the list of teams that have stacked their top line.
So, you can add the Anaheim Ducks to the list of teams that have stacked their top line. They've got Rickard Rakell playing alongside Ryan Getzlaf and the recent returning Ondrej Kase. This line is stacked and really the only reason to ever think about using an Anaheim Ducks player — aside from John Gibson in net. Although Kase isn't on the top power play unit with Rakell and Getzlaf, he is a vital part of this line stack as his speed and offensive potential really helps here. With that said, a Rakell+Getzlaf two-man mini-stack is certainly in play if you don't want to load it up as their power play correlation gives them elite upside.
Start your FanDuel cash game roster with this Anaheim forward
While best reserved for tournaments as part of a line stack on DraftKings, where Kase checks in at $5,100, FanDuel continues to have Ondrej priced at the bare-minimum of $3,000. Kase has been elevated to the top line with Ryan Getzlaf and Rickard Rakell, and truthfully, it doesn't matter where he skates as he makes things happen on his own. Naturally, skating with Getzlaf and Rakell increases Kase's value. Since returning from an injury that delayed his season debut, the underrated Danish winger has 21 shots on goal in just four games played. Last time out, Kase collected his first goal of the season. He is a lock in cash games on FanDuel and viable in tournaments on both sites against a poor-traveling Canucks team.
Danish winger looks to boost poor offense
The Ducks have had a tough time finding goals as their 2.10 goals scored per game is the second-worst in the National Hockey League. However, the Ducks have been dealing with a plethora of injuries all season long. They did get the underrated Ondrej Kase back on Monday, and he has already taken 11 shots on goal in just two games. Ondrej Kase sported a team-leading 60.51 CF/60 at 5-on-5 last season and figures to be leaned on more heavily this season. Kase checks in at the bare-minimum on FanDuel ($3,000) which really frees up roster construction. On DraftKings ($4,100), Kase is more of a fringe option, but he still makes for a low-owned tournament play.
Overlooked winger could be the difference in tournaments
While his minutes are limited, Ondrej Kase is someone who makes the most of them. Last season at 5-on-5, Kase was dynamite, posting 2.27 points per 60 minutes, a mark which trailed only captain Ryan Getzlaf. With aging, right-winger Corey Perry out for a stretch of time, it is not unreasonable to think Kase may get a bit more run than his 14 minutes per game last season. A closer look reveals Kase had a goal and two assists in three regular season meetings against the Sharks last season. Additionally, Kase potted a pair of goals in a preseason meeting with San Jose last month. Kase makes for an intriguing solo shot in tournaments.
Duckling powering Anaheim to post-season
Young Ondrej Kase has goals in back to back games and prior to that, he set up the game winning goal as the Ducks edged the Kings 2-1 last Friday. The Ducks can still improve upon their playoff seeding, and they should like their chances against a Dallas team that is playing for nothing. Despite limited ice time, Kase has been electric at times throughout the season and has 20 goals to his name. Given his price tag across the industry, he makes for a nice solo play in all formats in order to grab some of the superstars with big upside available on this short slate. Look for Ondrej Kase to fly under the radar despite his three game point streak and exploitable matchup.
This is a cheap stack to help you afford the studs
On a short slate that has some expensive lines, you're going to need to find some inexpensive lines to go with them. The third line on Anaheim has been a go-to as of late. While they haven't necessarily produced as one would hope, they are a solid play. The Ducks are on the tail-end of a back end but they are taking on Kari Lehtonen (Kari Let-them-in) so they should have ample opportunity to score. Kase has no points in his last eight games, which is not a ringing endorsement, but he is playing alongside Adam Henrique who has picked up some points along the way and Nick Ritchie. This line should face some weak competition against the Dallas Stars depth lines and give themselves some offensive changes. This is a long-shot GPP stack to pair with a stud line, so don't be surprised if they bust. However, getting this low owned line in the game they go off could be very profitable.
Kase Blends Upside with Cap Savings vs Chicago
If you are looking for a middle tier priced asset that can produce like a high end player, take a look at Kase tonight. On a team with Rickard Rakell and Jakob Silfverberg, Kase has actually been the best individual shot generator on the team. Among regular skaters (at least 100 5v5 minutes), Kase paces the Ducks in individual shots attempted per hour (16.67) and is third in individual scoring chances per hour (8.96). Working on a line with Nick Ritchie and Adam Henrique, Kase should have no trouble finding soft spots in the Blackhawk defense given how fast Chicago pushes the pace play.
Three multi-point games already this month for young Duck
Ondrej Kase has been the prototypical tournament play as his ice time is far from consistent, logging 17:17, 12:13, 17:12 and 12:07 in his last four games, respectively. Yet, Kase has three multi-point games already this month, posting nine points (5 goals, 4 assists) in 10 games. Although Dallas goaltender Ben Bishop has rock solid on home ice (18-8-1, 2.13 GAA, .931 SV%), he has been battered on the road, posting a 6-8-2 record with a subpar 3.22 GAA and .891 SV%. Kase is still an affordable mid-range option across the industry. Ondrej is too risky for cash given his fluctuating ice time, but he makes for an excellent solo target in tournaments given his propensity for big games.
