Oswaldo Arcia Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
The Padres side of the Coors Field game should be less popular tonight
Jon Gray has had success at home, holding an xFIP of 3.57 at home, compared to a slightly higher xFIP of 3.87 on the road. If this reputation keeps people away from the Padres tonight, look for a bat like Oswaldo Arcia to possibly go under-owned. The Padres lefty slugger has a hard contact rate over the last week of 45%. A Coors Field bump and a strikeout rate below 20% makes Arcia a sneaky play in a game that will most likely attract DFS players to Colorado bats.
Logan Morrison has three HRs (also 8 Ks) in 21 plate appearances vs Zimmermann
There probably shouldn't be a lot of interest either way in this one. Jordan Zimmermann has come back to the pack hard with a 39.7 LOB% in June. He still has a well below average 15.5 K%, though his SwStr is up to 8.1% over the last month. He's been allowing some more hard contact (33.3% in June), but still not many HRs (5.9 HR/FB in June, 7.3 HR/FB this season). The Rays have a 25.1 K% vs RHP, but will it be enough to pay off a cost above $8K for Zimmermann? For the Rays, Corey Dickerson (114 wRC+, .280 ISO vs RHP since 2015) and Brandon Guyer (92 wRC+ vs RHP since 2015) are back in the middle of the order, dropping Oswaldo Arcia (90 wRC+, .188 ISO vs RHP career) to 8th. Dickerson may be interesting for $3.4K on DraftKings. The smoking Brad Miller (117 wRC+, .193 ISO vs RHP since 2015, 198 wRC+ over the last week) is a viable SS option tonight, batting 2nd. Logan Morrison is an average bat against RHP batting cleanup (101 wRC+, .180 ISO), but has has three HRs in 21 career opportunities against Zimmermann (although eight Ks as well).
Oswaldo Arcia (illness) scratched Wednesday
Arcia came down with an illness and will miss today's game after originally being in the lineup. Nick Franklin will take his place playing LF with Brandon Guyer moving over to RF.
Twins power bats are in good position tonight at home against Cody Anderson
Surprisingly the slumping Twins are in a pretty good spot tonight against Cody Anderson in Target Field. Anderson (career 12K%) is not going to strike anyone out, which serves as a welcome site for the Twins, who have been striking out at a historical clip recently. This is the kind of matchup where we want to buy low on the MIN power bats, especially in GPP’s. Byung-Ho Park already has 3 HR’s at home vs RHP and boasts and ISO of .440 to go along with a 197 wRC+ against them. Miguel Sano is always a threat for a few bombs, and owns a career .291 ISO and .432 wOBA against RHP in Target Field. Finally, Oswaldo Arcia serves as another nice GPP power option given his career clip of a .260 ISO and 140 wRC+ at home against righties.
Nelson has a 2.79 ERA on a .157 BABIP & 90.9 LOB%, just a 5.4 SwStr%
Jimmy Nelson has a 2.79 ERA through three starts, but that's where the good news ends. Nine of his strikeouts came in one game and he has just a 5.4 SwStr% and was below 5% in two starts. His walk rate is in double digits and he's sneaking by on a .157 BABIP and 90.9 LOB% so far. He has allowed a HR in every start. Nelson has handled RHBs (.257 wOBA), though two Twins at the top have been strong vs same handed pitching. Nunez (147 wRC+) and Sano (142 wRC+, .245 ISO) have pounded RHP since last season and get a park upgrade tonight. Both also have a hard hit rate above 40% over the last week. From the left side he allows .367 wOBA since last season. Joe Mauer (152 wRC+ last seven days) and Oswaldo Arcia (155 wRC+ last seven days) have been hot.
Garrett Richards faces ice cold MIN bats tonight
Garrett Richards is in position for a nice bounce back start tonight against the strikeout prone Twins. Minnesota, who has been striking out an absurd 28.5% of their at-bats, just haven’t been able to get their bats going yet this season. They have posted a 66 wRC+ mark as a team, good for 3rd worst in the MLB. Unfortunately for them, they get to face high-upside strikeout pitcher Garrett Richards this evening. Potentially one of the most overlooked mid-tier pitching options on the slate, he holds a 26% strike out percentage this year and an average FB velocity of 96.5 MPH, good for the fourth fastest of all qualified starting pitchers. Richards serves as a nice GPP option tonight who will likely have a low ownership, resulting from the plethora of SP options available for this slate. If you are not a believer in Richards tonight however, you could take a look at Oswaldo Arcia (.234 ISO - .346 wOBA – 120 Wrc+ vs RHP in his career) who is hitting in the #5 tonight and may be worth a GPP flyer. Otherwise, there isn’t really much to like about the MIN bats tonight.
Sano, Buxton out of the Twins lineup, Arcia getting first start of the year
Sano and Buxton get not in the Twins lineup, opening the door for Oswaldo Arcia to get his first start of 2016.
