Paul Perkins Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Lions Sign RB Bo Scarbrough to Active Roster, Release RB Paul Perkins

The Lions have seen enough of Paul Perkins and signed Scarbrough, who could see some carries this weekend. He is a name to watch but not viable for DFS contests on Sunday.

Ty Johnson (Concussion) Practices Fully Friday, Questionable Sunday

Johnson was able to practice fully Friday and is considered questionable for Sunday. He will still need to clear the concussion protocol, but he has a good shot at playing this week. The Lions' backfield has turned into a timeshare, so Johnson's upside is capped even if healthy.

Ty Johnson in Concussion Protocol

Johnson is in the concussion protocol, putting his Week 11 status in doubt. The Lions' RB workload is split between Johnson, J.D. McKissic and Paul Perkins, meaning none of the three have significant value if they're all healthy.

Lions Promote RB Paul Perkins from Practice Squad, Place RB Tra Carson on IR

DFS players pounded rookie RB Ty Johnson's name into a ton of lineups last week after Kerryon Johnson was placed on IR, but he turned out to be bad chalk. With tournament players flocking heavily to the Lions/Raiders game and Steelers RB Jaylen Samuels projected to see over 55% ownership on some sites, Johnson makes for an interesting pivot off of Samuels and leverage play off of the Lions passing game. Now that Carson is out of the picture, Ty Johnson has a clearer path to meeting value due to his projected volume increase.

Lions Promote Paul Perkins to Active Roster

The Lions have promoted Paul Perkins to their active roster. While Perkins is unlikely to be a factor in the offense, this move indicates that Ty Johnson and J.D. McKissic will get a chance at the RB touches while Kerryon Johnson is out.

Lions RB Paul Perkins Inactive

With C.J. Anderson gone and the newly acquired Paul Perkins inactive, Kerryon Johnson could see more volume today against a very stout Eagles front seven.

C.J. Anderson Released, Paul Perkins Signed by Lions

Anderson appeared to have a role as the backup RB to start the season, getting 11 carries Week 1. However, he was matched Week 2 by Ty Johnson with just 5 carries, while Kerryon Johnson remains the clear lead back. Paul Perkins was signed by the Lions, but he should be at the bottom of the RB depth chart.

Sterling Shepard, Paul Perkins, DE Olivier Vernon, and C Weston Richburg ruled out for Week 6

The New York Football Giants will allegedly have an NFL team show up for Sunday night football in Denver but these guys and CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (suspension) won't be there. Roger Lewis will enter the no-fly zone as the top receiver for a struggling Eli Manning stuck behind a poor offensive line that's been charged with the fourth-most sacks (10, per PFF). Without Perkins available, Orleans Darkwa and Wayne Gallman will likely split early-down work with Shane Vereen fulfilling the passing down role - all three split time pretty evenly last week, playing between 20-27 snaps each. The rookie Gallman showed his versatility, nabbing as many targets as Vereen (5) and catching all of them for 25 yards. He could potentially carve out a featured role in the coming weeks but this doesn't seem like the spot to target him. Denver's defense ranks first in rush DVOA and their line is second in adjusted line yards (2.5, per FO). Denver's weak point continues to be at the tight end position; they're 26th in TE DVOA and have allowed the sixth-most PPR points to the position. Evan Engram figures to see a huge market share bump with the top four receivers out but his offense will likely struggle to move the ball and get into scoring position often, limiting his upside. The Giants currently have an implied total of 13.5 points.

With DRC out on defense, Eli Apple will continue to man the outside, setting up a nice spot for receivers Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders. The second-year corner has allowed the most touchdowns (4), fourth-most receptions (25), and the fourth-highest passer rating (128.8). Sanders will also get more run than Thomas in the slot against Ross Cockrell, Rodgers-Cromartie's replacement. So far this season, Sanders has slightly out-targeted Thomas 33-30 and he's scored twice while Thomas has failed to find the end zone. Quarterback Trevor Siemian has looked his way six times in the red zone which leads the team and beats out Thomas' share by four. Without Vernon on the field, Siemian should face less pressure when dropping back. Of course, game flow may work against the QB and his pass-catches as the Broncos are massive favorites (-11.5) and the Giants haven't been able to stop the run this year. NY is 28th in rushing DVOA and they've allowed RBs to pick up the fifth-most rushing yards per game this season (119). C.J. Anderson out-snapped Jamaal Charles by the biggest margin of the season in Week 4, 44 to 11, and he will continue to be the featured back. Based on his matchup and expected volume, he appears to be a great deal on FanDuel at $7.0k - he currently projects as our RB3 in terms of points-per-dollar.

Sterling Shepard, Paul Perkins, and several other notable Giants aren't practicing again Thursday;

Also out for the Giants today: DE Olivier Vernon, C Weston Richburg, LB Jonathan Casillas, and S Landon Collins. On top of that, CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has been suspended indefinitely. It's the second missed practice in a row for all these guys, which is bad news for an 0-5 Giants team that's already lost three of their top four receivers for the season. If those defensive players can't get back on the practice field tomorrow, New York could be depleted on that side of the ball as well. Not surprisingly, the spread keeps widening for their Sunday night game against the Broncos, the Giants are now +12 road dogs with an implied total of 13.5 points.

Paul Perkins and C Weston Richburg ruled out for Week 5; Jason Pierre-Paul and Olivier Vernon questionable

Perkins will be sidelined this week as he rehabs bruised ribs. Orleans Darkwa and rookie Wayne Gallman both get opportunities as the early-down backs while coach Ben McAdoo will still have Shane Vereen "play his role" as the passing-down back. McAdoo left it open for one of these guys to take over the backfield against the Chargers though, adding "if somebody gets hot, we'll ride him." Gallman rushed for 42 yards against the Buccaneers in his NFL debut this past weekend. Sadly, that marks the most yardage by any Giants running back in a game this season. Darkwa is leading the group with a 4.1 ypc rate. The Chargers rush defense ranks 29th in adjusted line yards per carry (5.36, per FO) and is currently allowing the second-most rushing yards per game (163.5). Gallman appears to have the best shot at the featured role and may be worth a high-risk GPP flier given the spot and his low salary but the floor will be very low. It won't help that Richburg is sidelined; he's currently PFF's 13th-ranked center and the only guy on the Giants' offensive line with a grade considered "average" or better.
