Pavel Buchnevich Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
This centre was dominant in the season opener.
Mika Zibanejad put up four points in the season opening playing with his new linemates in Pavel Buchnevich and Artemi Panarin. Zibanejad also fired seven shots on net hitting not only the point bonus but the shot bonus too while being one block away from the triple bonus.
The top line for the Rangers is depleted, but still a good one
Rick Nash has been sitting out for the last couple games, so lines should not really get shuffled too much with him being traded to the Boston Bruins this morning. However, the top line for the New York Rangers is definitely a solid spot tonight. Pavel Buchnevich is playing alongside Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider and they are taking on a Detroit Red Wings team that has struggled. They just traded away Petr Mrazek to the Philadelphia Flyers and with Jimmy Howard playing yesterday, it is likely Jared Coreau in net. Coreau started 14 games last season and was pretty terrible, putting up 3.46 goals against average and a .887 save percentage. The Rangers are in a great spot against a bad goaltender and should be able to fill the net despite moving on from Rick Nash.
Rangers' center certain to fly under-the-radar
It has been a disaster of a season for the New York Rangers, and in particular, Mika Zibanejad has slowed down, posting just three points in 10 games after the All-Star Break. However, in a battle of two teams essentially playing the season out, anything goes, especially with Antti Niemi guarding the crease for the Montreal Canadiens. Antti has resembled Swiss cheese for several seasons running, and this season is no different as the veteran has posted a pathetic 4.18 GAA and ghastly .880 SV% in 13 appearances. Mika Zibanejad sports the New York Rangers top HDCF% at 58.27% with Rick Nash right behind him, and while this duo has yet to really skate with each other, finding goals should not be a problem against Antti Niemi. Zibanejad and Nash make for a low-owned, high-upside combination in tournaments, and linemate Pavel Buchnevich as well as defenseman Brady Skjei could join the fun too as they join Zibanejad and Nash on the team's top power play unit.
Target This Top Line In A Sneaky Shootout
If you are looking to maximize the potential of a line stack tonight, look to the top line of New York which features Buchnevich, Kreider, and the expected return of Zibanejad. They draw a great matchup against a depleted Anaheim team that has been repeatedly been bailed out by strong goaltending this season despite entering tonight's game with the highest xGA/60 among available road teams. Also featured on New York's top power play unit, this trio should be very active on the man advantage tonight against a tired Ducks team that will be playing on consecutive nights a long way away from home. In a game that should play at a fast pace between two struggling defensive teams, loading up on the top line for New York could pay major dividends tonight.
This winger looks great in his second NHL season
Pavel Buchnevich is having a much better year in his second season in the NHL. He didn't get much of a chance last season, but is flourishing in a top 6 role this year. He's got eight goals and 17 points in 23 games this season and is taking on an over performing Canucks team today. Playing alongside Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider, this line has been playing great together and makes for a great tournament stack tonight.
Young Russian in a tough matchup will be very low owned
This is a really tough matchup, on the road taking on arguably the best goalie in the NHL in Sergei Bobrovsky. However, this is a two-game slate and frankly, in this situation, everybody is on the table. The top line on the Rangers has been playing solid lately as Pavel Buchnevich has seven goals and 12 points in his last 10 games while averaging three shots per game. Buchnevich's linemates are Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider and the trio plays together on the top power play unit which increase their upside as they are always on the ice together.
After a somewhat disappointing season, this sophomore is fitting right in on the Rangers.
This is another difficult matchup, but on a three-game slate everything is in play, especially in tournaments. Playing in Chicago is going to be very difficult, especially getting matched up against Jonathan Toews. However, I still feel that this line is playing well enough as a unit that they can still be productive, especially considering Chicago 64.42 CA/60, third worst in the NHL. Over the last 10 games, Buchnevich is averaging three shots per game and has scored seven goals in the process. As long as he continues to fire the puck at this rate, and playing on the top power play unit, he's going to be a productive fantasy option. His shooting percentage of 17 percent is going to come down a bit, but he did shoot 14.5 percent last season so he's not really producing unrealistic shooting numbers at this point.
Save some salary with this speedster
The Rangers were disappointing against the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night, but Pavel Buchnevich took four shots on goal and found a helper. The bigger story perhaps was Mika Zibanejad potting two power-play goals in the first period. Overall, Mika took eight shots on goal. The Rangers top line could be one to target throughout the year, particularly if Chris Kreider finds some sense of consistency. Buchnevich may not stay on the top line throughout the season, but the speedy and offensive-minded winger has been given a chance to prove himself. Tonight’s game in Toronto should be played at a nice pace as the oddsmakers have posted an over/under of six. At just $3,800 on FanDuel, $4,700 on DraftKings and $9,600 on FantasyDraft, Pavel makes for an intriguing source of saving salary.
