Pierre Jackson named the starter alongside Seth Curry

Despite earlier reports that Devin Harris would draw the start at point guard for the injured Deron Williams in tonight's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Pierre Jackson will actually get the starting nod alongside Seth Curry in the backcourt. Harris will obviously now come off the bench, and his minutes may be limited to some extent on the second night of a back-to-back set. Jackson has looked good in limited action thus far and is the preferred target over Harris in all formats for Thursday's slate.

Dirk Nowitzki, Deron Williams, and Wesley Matthews all OUT for Mavericks today

The Mavericks have ruled out three of their starters for their game against the Thunder tonight which will open up a ton of value for this small four game slate. Seth Curry is coming off a 30 fpt performance last night with Wesley Matthews out and will again be a top option. There is some concern about his upside, however, as last night was the first time he'd topped the 30 fpt threshold since late November. Deron Williams absence will make Pierre Jackson a intriguing value option as he has put up 34 fpts in 42 minutes of play in the teams last two games - if he can get 30 minutes he should easily pay off his minimum $3.5K salary (he will likely split time with Devin Harris but is the preferred option of the two). The last value option opening up is Dwight Powell who should get the start and/or majority of minutes at power forward with Nowitzki resting. Harrison Barnes should also be on your radar as his usage should go up significantly with the three Mavericks starters out.

Pierre Jackson signs 10-day contract with Mavericks, expected to be active today

The Mavericks have announced that they have signed Pierre Jackson to a 10-day contract. This will be Jackson's second stint with the Mavericks after appearing in four games earlier this season. He will be active and available to play in today's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves but is highly unlikely to see significant minutes.

John Jenkins, Pierre Jackson, and Ryan Kelly have been waived by their respective teams

John Jenkins has been waived by the Suns. Pierre Jackson has been waived by the Mavericks. Lastly, Ryan Kelly was waived by the Hawks. John Jenkins was not getting much playing time with the plethora of guards that the Suns have. Pierre Jackson was expendable due to the fact that J.J. Barea is nearing a return. Ryan Kelly was waived to make the Korver trade with Cleveland work.

Jonathon Gibson waived by the Dallas Mavericks; Pierre Jackson signed to replace him

The Dallas Mavericks have announced that they have waived guard Jonathon Gibson. In a corresponding move, the Mavericks also announced that they have signed guard Pierre Jackson from the Texas Legends of the NBA Development League. Jackson was averaging 29.1 points per game this season in the D-League. He will likely immediately step into Gibson's minimal role off the bench while J.J. Barea remains sidelined.
