Rafael Cabrera Bello Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Don't Let His PGA Tour Stats Fool You
RCB doesn't have the best statistics, but that's only if you are looking at data from the PGA Tour. He spends about half of his time on the European Tour where he has been a top 10 machine. In his last five events, he has four top 30 finishes including a sixth and a second. He played in last week's Zozo Championship where he made 15 birdies and an eagle en route to a T30 finish. I always seem to gravitate toward him on tougher tracks and specifically in WGC events. He has played here each of the last three seasons, posting finishes of T19, T5, and T14. His ownership should be reasonable even though he's been in great form and even though he's a good fit for the course.
Rafael Cabrera-Bello returns to action after birth of his child
Rafael Cabrera Bello missed last week's Northern Trust to be with his wife as she gave birth to their daughter. With mom and baby, healthy RCB returns to action this week as he barley snuck into the top 70. Needing a top 3 or better finish to make it to East Lake RCB will have his work cut out for him at Medinah. From a DFS standpoint, RCB at his price point would prove to be very effective with a top 20 type of finish. Currently projected to be right in the middle of our projections in terms of Pt/$/K, RCB could be a sneaky pick in terms of exceeding that projection. Making a ton of bridies has not been the issue for RCB of late, it's been the bogies and big numbers keeping this talented golfer from playing the weekend. With no cut this week and really no big pressure to speak of we can look at RCB being the type of player to crush his value in light of a strong finish position. In his last start ( also a no-cut event) RCB crushed his value for the week and ended up being one of the top points per dollar golfers despite only finishing in a tie for twelfth.
Rafael Cabrera-Bello is no longer in the field
Rafael Cabrera Bello is no longer in the Northern Trust field. With his wife days away from giving birth to their child RCB will skip this week's event. He will not be replaced in the field.
Solid Value
Another major brings another chance for us to grab a talented golfer at a cheap price tag. All Cabrera-Bello does is make cuts consistently, and he has an intriguing combination of safety and upside. He has missed just two worldwide cuts in 21 starts this season, and the last three starts have all resulted in top ten finishes. His ball striking metrics in his PGA Tour starts aren’t great, but he has found his game in Europe, and that takes priority this week. He’s also very solid on par fours, as he ranks 25th on the PGA Tour in that department this year. I’m definitely a buyer at this reasonable price tag, especially since he has made the cut in six of his previous seven Open appearances.
Favorite Course Narrative
The final play of the week is RCB. If you throw out his results on the Euro Tour (which can be a bit random at times), he has made 23 of his last 24 cuts on the PGA Tour. Can you believe that type of consistency? His statistics don’t look great on paper and if you asked a bunch of random DFS players about his consistency, nobody would guess that he’s made 23 of his last 24 cuts. Before the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am this season, he posted a video of himself putting in the rain at Pebble Beach with a caption that read, “When it’s been raining a “little bit” but you’re at your favorite course and have a putt for birdie at the last!” Favorite course narrative, consistency that nobody realizes, and low ownership. Sign me up!
Too Talented to be this Cheap
This pick is betting on talent more than anything else. When do we ever get the opportunity to roster RCB at a cheaper price point than Kevin Na and Rory Sabbatini? Even more, when do we get to do that on a long course that requires you to hit a lot of drivers? The answer is never, so we should take advantage of it this week. He’s one of the best total drivers on tour, he’s great with his long irons, and he makes a ton of birdies. He has made 20 of his last 21 cuts on the PGA Tour and has sprinkled in 12 top 25 finishes during that stretch. Eat the chalk with RCB and take your stands elsewhere.
Rafael Cabrera-Bello looks to keep the momentum going
For the second straight week, Rafael Cabrera-Bello stands out as one of the better bargain plays on DraftKings. Pricing for this week's Players Championship was released prior to a 3rd place finish at The Arnold Palmer Invitational. Even without his high finish from last week, there is a strong argument that Cabrera-Bello's recent play deserves a bit more respect in terms of pricing. With six straight top 25 or better finishes in his last six starts including a pair of 3rd place showings, Cabrera-Bello game is in excellent form ahead of the unofficial fifth major. The combination of his great play and low price has Cabrera-Bello once again at the top of our DraftKings projections in terms of Pt/$/K. Looking to build off back to back top 20 or better outings at TPC Sawgrass, Cabrera-Bello will be one of the more popular value plays for the week. With such great recent form, it's really hard to make a case for fading Cabrera-Bello at such a low price.
Biggest Pricing Error of the Week
The final play is arguably the most mis-priced golfer in the field this week. Pricing was released before last week’s tournament ended, so it doesn’t factor in RCB’s T3 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He now has six straight top 25s on tour. So we have a red-hot golfer that is underpriced. He also checks the course history box, posting finishes of T4 and T17 here the last two years. His statistics all look solid and his preferred putting surface is bermuda. While anyone is susceptible to a bad week in golf, it’s hard not to load up on RCB at this price point, even at high ownership.
Rafael Cabrera-Bello set to make his Arnold Palmer Invitational debut
The combination of The Players Championship moving back to March and The PGA Championship moving to May has created a different feel to the 2019 PGA Tour schedule. One of the biggest differences seen thus far this season is that many two tour players are spending more time on The PGA Tour earlier during the season. Due to such circumstances, players like Rafael Cabrera-Bello will add new events to their schedule. Cabrera-Bello will make his API debut this week and is trending as a popular value pick despite the lack of experience at Bay Hill. Since April of late year, Cabrera-Bello has made 16 straight cuts including 10 top 25 or better finishes. Priced down on a site like DraftKings, Cabrera-Bello is popping in our projections model as one of the top Pt/$/K plays for the week. The lack of course history could be a concern for some in the DFS community, but the combination of talent and a skill set that fits Bay Hill should provide a great opportunity for Cabrera-Bello to outperform his salary.
DraftKings Projections are live and Rafa Cabrera-Bello is trending as a top play
Playing for the second consecutive week on the PGA Tour, Rafael Cabrera-Bello is looking to start the 2019 season off on a good note. With a top 25 showing at last week's Pebble Beach Pro-AM, Cabrera-Bello will turn his attention posting another solid finish at a course that suits his game. In terms of looking at strokes gained statistics, Cabrera-Bello excels in all of the major categories with the exception of strokes gained around the green. Despite his ability to get up and down efficiently, Cabrera-Bello was able to put his ball striking skills to good use by posting a T26 in inaugural Genesis Open last season. Priced down due to the overall talent in this field, Cabrera-Bello stands out as one of the better plays in terms of Pt/$/K in our projection model for the week.
