Ricardo Louis Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Kenny Britt (knee) will be a game-time decision for Week 6

Britt suffered a mid-week setback to the groin injury that held him out of last week's game. He's performed poorly since joining the Browns, catching just 8-of-23 targets over four games. Perhaps he will come out motivated if he plays or maybe Kevin Hogan under center can help his bottom line, but he's far from reliable at this point. That said, it looks like he'd at least have a favorable matchup against Johnthan Banks, who's allowed the fifth-most yards per cover snap since he signed with the Texans three weeks ago (2.29, per PFF). Ricardo Louis would be the de facto number one receiver if Britt is out. He'll primarily go up against Jonathan Joseph, PFF's 61st cover corner. This cornerback group isn't anything to fear as their slot guy, Kareem Jackson, rounds out their top trio with PFF's 103rd cover grade. When in the slot this season, Jackson has led the league with 2.3 yards per cover snap (2.3) and he's second-worst in both passer rating (123.9) and cover snaps per reception (6.4). Rashard Higgins has been quiet for three weeks after blowing up for a 7/11/95/0 line but he could be a sneaky GPP gamble. The added risk there is his playing time, after topping 50 snaps for three straight games, Higgins only earned 37 last week against the Jets while newcomer Bryce Treggs beat him with 42. Tight end David Njoku has a team-high three touchdowns and two of them came from Kevin Hogan. There's some chemistry between the two and Houston has allowed the fourth-most yards to the position and eighth-most PPR points despite ranking sixth in TE DVOA. All of these solid matchups signal an opportunity for Hogan to beat his cheap salary. The Texans are allowing the seventh-most fantasy points to QBs and Hogan comes with a decent floor boost from his running ability. In the lone game he received significant playing time in 2016, he ran for 104 yards and a score on seven attempts. In just one half against the Jets last week, he added 30 yards on four carries. He was also very efficient through the air, completing 16-of-19 passes for 194 yards and two scores. He won't exactly be sneaky though, we're projecting 10% ownership on DraftKings, the third-highest among QBs on the slate.

Kenny Britt re-aggravated groin injury Thursday, considered day-to-day

Britt exited practice early today after his groin started bothering him. He was inactive this past weekend due to the injury and is questionable for Week 6 when the Browns take on the Texans. If he does play, he'll likely start but he's performed poorly since joining the Browns, catching just 8-of-23 targets over four games. Perhaps he would come out motivated this Sunday or maybe Kevin Hogan under center can help his bottom line, but he's far from reliable at this point. If Britt sits, Ricardo Louis would be the de facto number one receiver although Duke Johnson leads the team in receptions (23) and receiving yards (270) while David Njoku has a team-high three touchdowns. The tight end caught two of those from Hogan and appears to have some chemistry with the quarterback. Newcomer Bryce Treggs was second to Louis with 42 snaps (Louis played 58) and he picked up six targets.

Kevin Hogan will start ahead of DeShone Kizer in Week 6

Coach Hue Jackson has decided to move Kizer, the league-leader in turnovers (11), to the bench this weekend when the Browns visit the Texans. Hogan came in for Kizer in the second half of their Week 5 game against the Jets and was impressive, completing 16-of-19 passes for 194 yards and two scores. He may have a better spot than it appears against the ailing Texans defense that will be without two of their best defensive players and pass-rushers, J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus. Houston currently ranks 11th in pass DVOA while they've allowed the sixth-most yards per attempt (7.9), seventh-most passing touchdowns (9), and tenth-best passer rating (97.5) through five weeks. Of course, Hogan won't have many weapons to work with on the Browns' thin offense. Kenny Britt may be inactive again, leaving Ricardo Louis, Rashard Higgins, Kasen Williams, and Bryce Treggs at receiver. Running back Duke Johnson caught a late touchdown from Hogan last week and continues to lead the team in receiving yards (270). Hogan has shown some chemistry with tight end David Njoku - they connected for a 3/3/48/1 line in the second half. Njoku has now caught two of his three touchdown balls from Hogan, nabbing one in each game the quarterback attempted at least 11 throws. The Texans defense ranks sixth in TE DVOA but they're allowing the fourth-most yards (72.8) and the eighth-most PPR points to the position (14.88 per game).

Kenny Britt (knee, groin) and Jamie Collins (concussion) doubtful for Week 5

Britt hasn't practiced all week and the Browns want a reason to bench him this weekend. If he sits, the Jets could stick corner Morris Claiborne on Ricardo Louis. Claiborne has only been targeted 11 times this season and he's permitting the seventh-fewest yards per cover snap among corners (0.52, per PFF). That would leave slot receiver Rashard Higgins with a comparative advantage in the slot against Buster Skrine, who's allowing the tenth-most yards per cover snap when in slot coverage (1.14) and a 71.4% catch rate. Britt's absence could also help Duke Johnson, the team's leading receiver, and the Jets are allowing the ninth-most receiving yards to RBs (57.1, per FO). Still, it's an ugly game to target with the second-lowest total on the slate (39.5 points). LB Collins has cleared concussion protocol but he's not expected to make his return this weekend. Cleveland will get DT Danny Shelton and DE Myles Garrett back though, which could make things tough for the Jets' offensive line.

Kenny Britt (knee, groin) isn't practicing Thursday, DT Danny Shelton is participating

It's the second day in a row Britt will be sidelined; it's possible they use his injury as an excuse to bench him this weekend. Coach Hue Jackson remains optimistic Shelton will suit up this weekend. If Britt sits, the Jets could stick corner Morris Claiborne on Ricardo Louis.

A Cheap WR That Should See a Heavy Workload

The Cleveland offense is a bit of a dumpster fire. They have no clear No. 1 WR, an underperforming QB and are average at basically ever other spot in the offense, but points are going to have to come from somewhere in this offense and they are all cheap. Louis got 9 targets last week and 6 the prior week - with the absence of Corey Coleman and the complete lack of love lately for Britt and Higgins, Louis may be the top WR for this Browns offense. Since the Browns do not have a clear cut WR1, Louis will likely receive CB coverage from several different CB's with the Jets secondary being well below average, it is a plus matchup. The Jets pass D ranks in the bottom third of the league in DVOA and despite facing one of the easiest schedules against for offensive WR's (JAX, MIA, OAK, and BUF) they have still managed to give up the 13th most fantasy points to WR's. Louis is priced incredibly cheap ($3,700 on DK). Regardless of how good a WR is, if they are in the NFL and they are expected to get a large volume of targets, they will in all likelihood pay off their price if it is near the minimum.

Colts CB Vontae Davis (groin) will practice on a limited basis this week

Davis hasn't played yet this season but he returned to a limited practice last Friday. It looks like he has a shot to suit up this week, which would provide a much-needed improvement for their struggling secondary. The cornerback had a down year in 2016, earning a poor 47.3 PFF grade, but he was battling injuries the entire season. The Colts are hopeful he can overcome his groin injury and regress towards his elite form. In 2014, he scored the second-best mark among all cornerbacks and limited opposing QBs to a 38.8 rating when targeting him, per PFF. While it's doubtful he can have that type of success in his age-29 season, he should still be an upgrade for their pass defense. His presence could potentially help Rashard Higgins as the Browns receiver ran nearly all of his routes out of the slot - nine of his 11 targets came from the position, per Next Gen Stats. Davis could make things more difficult for outside receivers Kenny Britt and Ricardo Louis, opening up more opportunities for Higgins.

Corey Coleman placed on IR

Coleman underwent surgery Monday to repair a broken hand. It looks like his recovery is expected to take about eight weeks, which is when he'll be eligible to return. Cleveland has bumped Rashard Higgins into a starting role on their depth chart, although beat writer Pat McManamon believes Ricardo Louis will get the "start" while Higgins primarily operates out of the slot. Higgins is still the top fantasy target and may essentially become their WR1 while Coleman is sidelined. In Week 2, he out-snapped starter Kenny Britt 54 to 42 and racked up a team-high 11 targets to Britt's two - Louis picked up 32 snaps and two targets. Higgins will be an appealing GPP option this week against a Colts team that has the early looks of an ideal pass funnel defense to pick on. After facing Todd Gurley and the collection of Cardinals running backs sans David Johnson, the Colts have limited runners to 2.5 yards per carry, the second-best mark in the league. At the same time, they've allowed the fourth-most passing yards per game (308) and second-most yards per attempt (9.8). Considering the Browns have struggled to move the ball on the ground, averaging 3.3 yards per carry, the eighth-worst rate in the league, Higgins should be given ample opportunity to produce against a weak secondary.

Terrelle Pryor officially active Sunday

Adding to a previous report. Pryor is active today, so it appears he didn't suffer any setbacks leading up to the game. He's the primary target on the Browns, so he should see a high volume of looks if he plays a full complement of snaps. There's definitely a risk that he'll be limited. Andrew Hawkins and Ricardo Louis make for interesting pivots off Pryor. They're the second and third receivers in targets and they've both had looks inside the red zone. The Browns should be throwing a lot today as they're 10-point underdogs.

Terrelle Pryor questionable for Sunday

The Browns WR has been battling a hamstring injury all week and has been listed as questionable by the team for their game against the Bengals this week. If he can't go, Ricardo Louis is an intriguing value option in GPP's and Gary Barnidge and Duke Johnson should see increased targets in the passing game.
