Rod Pampling Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Weather update for The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Weather is always something to take into play for this week's event. Pebble Beach has a long history of wind and rain impacting the outcome of tournaments through its storied history. When using weather for the week we have to consider the variable of both course rotation as well as the projected forecast. Adding to the confusion of handicapping weather draws is the fact that three courses are in use over the first three rounds of play. Looking at Kevin Roth's forecast we can expect pretty similar conditions over the first two and a half days with wind perhaps stronger late on Saturday. Players will tee off both the first and the tenth tee over the first three days with only 2.5 hours between the first and the last tee time. If there is an edge to be gained using weather it will be very small which could set up a spot to revisit the forecast prior to the round 3 showdown slate. If the wind blows on Saturday Pebble Beach will typically player harder than the other two courses in the rotation.

Weather update for The Shriners Hospitals for Children Open

Kevin Roth’s weather report for The Shriners Hospitals for Children Open is up in the main forum. With the wind in play the first two days there could be a small advantage to tee time stacking for the week. Wind speeds pick late on Thursday with chances of gusts reaching the 15 mph range. Friday looks to be a pretty even draw in terms of weather with winds only reaching 10mph throughout the day. The weather draw looks to be small if anything, but if you are playing the showdown slate on Thursday you could look to play the majority of your golfers in the morning wave.

Weather update for A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier

Kevin Roth's weather report for the first event of the 2020 PGA Tour season is up in the main forum. If you are new to DFS golf we like to look at weather in terms of a tee time draw over the first two days of play. If it appears that one side of the draw could potentially have a stronger edge in terms of weather then you can build rosters to adjust for the weather. This week's weather forecast calls for stronger winds with a chance for rain on Friday afternoon. That being said the winds are not expected to be more than 10mph, so there is not a real clear edge in terms of weather. We would need the wind to be much strong to avoid one wave over another. That being said you could always build a few MME lineups with tee time stacking in mind in case of a preferred draw.

Twenty-five minutes to roster lock and no major news to report

Twenty-five minutes until roster lock and no major news to report. We have some potential wind to deal with in terms of the first day of play, so there might be a small edge by stacking the early/late tee time wave. If the weather pattern holds winds will increase throughout the day today making the early morning conditions the easiest of the day. Good luck this week grinders, and results DB will have results up and running shortly after lock.

Looking to capitalize on an opportunity

Rod Pampling shocked the golfing world with his upset win over Brooks Koepka at last year's Shriners Open. The 48-year-old Australian had not won on the PGA Tour in over a decade and had to spend part of the 2015 season on the Web.com tour in order to secure his card moving forward. Pampling cited his passion for the game as motivation to try to win again on tour. The fall season can be a great time for a player both old and young to capitalize on an opportunity. Maverick McNealy enters this week as a young player in search of a chance to earn full PGA Tour status. McNealy turned pro earlier this year and will need to earn enough money off limited sponsors exemptions in order to receive full time playing status on the PGA Tour. As a former highly ranked amateur McNealy has played in a handful of tour events prior to turning pro. This former Stanford golfer has flashed his talent at times, but he has yet to put 4 solid rounds of golf together. McNealy shares more than his desire to capitalize on an opportunity with Rod Pampling. Both players share the same swing coach Alex Murray, and McNealy should be able to gain both course knowledge and positive vibes from that connection. The pressure is high for McNealy to play well early, and this new face on the PGA Tour has more than enough talent to make an impact. Risk of the unknown makes McNealy more of a tournament option, but I love the upside he offers at this price.
