Ryan Fox Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Ryan Fox and Adrian Otaegui have been added to the DFS pricing pool
On a normal PGA Tour event, we never see a mid-week PGA field addition makes his way into a DFS pricing pool. With bigger weeks like a major championship where pricing is released prior to the final field, we have seen players added to the field who qualified after the inial pricing added to DFS pricing pool. With this week being a WGC event there has not been much player movement, but with J.B. Holmes deciding to take a pass on the event, and Andrew Putnam withdrawing yesterday two new players were added to the field. Both Ryan Fox and Adrian Otaegui have been added to the field and are now available in DFS pricing pools. Of the two players, Fox has more of a proven pedigree and can be considered as a GPP dart for the week. Having played in a handful of majors and WGC events, Fox is no stranger to competing in this type of field and in a no-cut event has enough upside to pay off his salary for the week.
Ryan Fox looks to continue his hot play
One of the great things about watching The British Open is the opportunity to see and learn about players who don’t compete regally on The PGA Tour. For the 31-year-old European touring pro Ryan Fox, this week will be a great opportunity to showcase his talents to a much wider audience. Playing in his third Open Championship and his fifth career major, Fox enters this week with a bit of momentum. As the owner of nine straight worldwide made cuts, including a 2nd and 6th place finish in his last two starts, Fox clearly has his game fine-tuned ahead of this week’s British Open. Reasonably priced across the industry and not expected to gain a ton of fanfare, Fox is in line to be a sneaky GPP play this week.
What Does the Fox Say?
Fox represents the epitome of how we can gain a potential edge in an event like this one. The casual DFS player will likely completely over-look this New Zealander that they don’t know a whole lot about. Even those who play PGA Tour DFS on the regular might not know much about Fox. Well, he has a very respectable links game and has been dialed in on the European Tour of late with finishes of sixth place and second place over the last two weeks. That was enough to earn him a ticket to Carnoustie, and he’s playing with house money at this point. Expect him to fire at some flags and look to keep the momentum rolling. He’s a fantastic punt play to round out your GPP rosters.
Player Spotlight: Ryan Fox
The lesser known European Tour is the home of some very talented players. The British Open provides the large majority of the golf world a chance to learn a little more about players that we would normally not pay any attention to. Ryan Fox is a an up and coming player on the European Tour, and his spectacular play this season makes him an intriguing salary relief option for large field GPP's. The son of a famous rugby player, Fox has posted six consecutive top 26 or better finishes, and his 4th place finish at last week's Scottish Open was his third top 6 or better finish in a row. This 2016 Challenge Tour graduate will make his major championship debut this week. Fox should fly under the radar for the year's third major, but if he can keep up his solid form, then he makes for an perfect low owned tournament flier.
