Ryan Nugent-Hopkins Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
The best player in the league continues to have a rotation of wingers
Connor McDavid is still the best player in the league, obviously, but he still gets stuck with a rotation of wingers. Tonight, it will be Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Zack Kassian joining McDavid on the top line. There should be little interest in Kassian as his offensive ability is limited at best. However, Nugent-Hopkins and McDavid are a very intriguing mini-stack as they play on the top power play unit together as well. The Oilers are in Ottawa to take on the Senators — a team that has completely bottomed out as of late with trading four of their best players over the last months.
This center seems to have new wingers every other week.
Nobody seems to really stick on Connor McDavid's wing for very long, though Leon Draisaitl has had a lot of success there. Tonight Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jesse Puljujarvi will be there which is a pretty solid trio. The CF/60, CA/60 and CF% of the Edmonton Oilers and their opponents — the Detroit Red Wings — are very similar so I'm just going with McDavid being the reason why Edmonton should win this game as he's so far and ahead the best player in this game. Nugent-Hopkins plays on the top power play unit with McDavid so they make for an interesting mini-stack, but the full stack is definitely a viable play.
Injury Concerns Could Lower Ownership for Superstar
McDavid missed the team's skills competition due to "illness", but I have my doubts as to how sick McDavid was. I think the team was just giving him such deserved rest due to his heavy workload this season. McDavid should be back in action tonight at home against the Sabres, but some may be scared off by the "questionable" title. He's been averaging about 24 minutes a game lately, a total generally only seen by defensemen. His linemates have been a revolving door, but it appears Ty Rattie and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will get the first crack at playing with the all-world talent.
Heavy minutes for this super star and line-mates
Connor McDavid is arguably the most talented playing in the NHL, and is playing a ton of minutes. He played 27 minutes last game. McDavid recently reunited with Leon Draisaitl, and Alex Chiasson, makes this line stackable again. The Arizona Coyotes haven’t been terrible defensively, but they do give up high danger chances in bunches. They are allowing 11.91 HDCA/60. All three play together at even strength and on the power-play. Darnell Nurse is the defenseman you will want to add to this stack as he correlates on the top special teams unit as well.
Update- Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Ty Rattie are flanking McDavid now. They are still in a good spot. Liked them more with Draisaitl on the top line.
This line is my top play tonight.
The Washington Capitals have allowed 3.83 goals against per game — the fourth-worst mark in the NHL. They have struggled defensively this season and with Phoenix Copley in net for the Capitals, you should just lock in the best player in the NHL. Connor McDavid leads the slate, averaging 5.9 DraftKings points per game and has put up 9 goals and 21 points in just 13 games this season. He is playing with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins as well as Drake Caggiula, which is a pretty cheap play to offset McDavid's price. RNH and McDavid play on the top power play unit together giving them elite upside as a two-man mini-stack.
Fastest Skater in the NHL Faces Tired Opponent
Connor McDavid and the Oilers get the Blackhawks on the second of a back-to-back tonight. That should mean Cam Ward is in net for Chicago, which is a plus for Edmonton. Ward has a woeful 3.91 GAA this season with a save percentage under .890. Meanwhile, McDavid is doing Connor McDavid things and already has 18 points in 11 games, including goals in five straight. Pairing him with talented linemate Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is a great idea for tournaments and cash games alike.
The top line for the Edmonton Oilers is in a great spot tonight.
Sometimes you simply play the best player in the world. Tonight, Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers are in a pretty good matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins in a game that should have a bunch of scoring. McDavid will line up with Kailer Yamamoto and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and will likely face Matt Murray in the opposing net. Murray has struggled in the early part of this season with just a 3.65 GAA and .893 SV%, but his numbers last season were also bad with a 2.92 GAA and .907 SV%. Murray hasn't been the same since 2016-2017 with concussions derailing him along the way. It's a perfect spot for McDavid to get on the scoresheet multiple times.
The best player in the world is too cheap.
And no, I'm not talking about Auston Matthews. Connor McDavid comes in at just $7,400 on DraftKings which is pretty cheap for him. It makes sense given that he and the Edmonton Oilers are in Winnipeg to take on the Jets in a difficult matchup. He's playing between Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Ty Rattie, a line that was dominant in the preseason. Additionally, RNH joins McDavid on the top power play unit which gives the two-man stack elite correlation.
Don't Sleep On This Superstar Tonight
One of the few bright spots in an otherwise disappointing season for Edmonton, Connor McDavid continues to excite with a league leading 103 points this year. Skating alongside Nugent-Hopkins and Rattie on Edmonton's top line, McDavid draws a sneaky good matchup against a banged up Vegas team that will be without a number of their key playmakers for tonight's game. This bodes well for the superstar McDavid, who should have no problems paying off his steep price tag with the heavy ice time he sees on a regular basis in a game that features plenty of goal potential.
Fade This Superstar At Your Own Peril
One of the few bright spots in an otherwise disappointing season for Edmonton, Connor McDavid continues to excite with 99 points this year. Skating alongside Nugent-Hopkins and Rattie on Edmonton's top line, McDavid draws a sneaky good matchup against a Columbus team that can be exposed away from ice; entering tonight's game allowing the second most high danger scoring chances among road teams over their past 25 games. Also featured on Edmonton's top power play, look for McDavid and linemates to easily pay off their manageable price tags against a Columbus penalty kill that ranks 25th in the NHL this year.
