Tony Snell (thigh contusion) will start Sunday; Shabazz Muhammad available to play
Snell has officially been cleared to play and will start in Sunday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers, according to interim head coach Joe Prunty, after previously being listed as probable on the Milwaukee Bucks' injury report with a right thigh contusion that had forced him to miss two consecutive games. The Bucks formally announced that Shabazz Muhammad will be active and available to play in tonight's matchup after finalizing a deal for the remainder of the season following his buyout agreement with the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he was not a part their shallow rotation. However, despite his availability, there has not been any confirmation from the team or Prunty on whether Muhammad will actually see the court in his debut. The return of Snell to the starting lineup will send Jason Terry back to the bench to resume his normal reserve role, while Sterling Brown is also likely to see his playing time diminished after he and Terry split starts at the shooting guard spot in Snell's two-game absence.
Opportunity Because of Injury
With the news of Jimmy Butler being ruled out, Shabazz Muhammad should be in line for another start. He played 30 minutes last night against Indiana, and should be in line for 25+ minutes again tonight. Shabazz is min salary on both FanDuel and DraftKings. If you want to fit in some top options tonight, he's my favorite punt option, and I like his chances for 6x on both sites.
Jimmy Butler (illness) ruled out Tuesday; Shabazz Muhammad will start
Butler was a late scratch from the Minnesota Timberwolves starting lineup for tonight's game against the Indiana Pacers despite never appearing on the injury report with an illness. In his absence, Shabazz Muhammad will draw the start at small forward, sliding Andrew Wiggins over to shooting guard. Given his expected minute floor, Muhammad obviously sets up as a solid value play on the late slate, while all of the Timberwolves remaining starters should be expected to benefit from a usage and production standpoint with Butler unable to give it a go Tuesday evening.
Nemanja Bjelica (left foot) to miss the remainder of the season
Forward Nemanja Bjelica was diagnosed with a foot injury and it will cause him to miss the remainder of the season. Jordan Hill or Adreian Payne will likely be used as the backup forward but expect Karl-Anthony Towns and Gorgui Dieng to continue to play over 30 minutes. Shabazz Muhammad can also be slotted in as a small ball four. Bjelica was really starting to pick up his play of late but will have to wait until next year.
Brandon Rush (illness) probable for Friday's game against the Warriors
Brandon Rush was unable to play on Wednesday due to an illness and Shabazz Muhammad replaced him in the starting lineup. Muhammad had his best game in about a month and played 26 minutes. Muhammad had a 30% usage rate against the Clippers and continued his hot shooting over the past week. Muhammad has shot 50% or better in five straight games and will be an elite punt option if Rush is limited or kept as a reserve.
Brandon Rush (illness) ruled out tonight; Shabazz Muhammad will start
With Rush out of action, Shabazz Muhammad will draw the start and we could also see either Tyus Jones or Nemanja Bjelica pick up some extra court time as well. Muhammad becomes a viable minimum priced punt play in late slates, but this news doesn't add a ton of intrigue to either Jones or Bjelica. The outlook for the other four starters doesn't change much as a result.
Zach Lavine (hip) questionable for Friday
Zach LaVine missed Wednesday's game against the Rockets with a hip issue. He was able to practice today but is still being listed as questionable. Brandon Rush and Shabazz Muhammad played really well in the absence of LaVine while Nemanja Bjelica also provided a boost. Look for another update regarding LaVine before plugging in Rush or Muhammad into your lineups for Friday.
Shabazz Muhammad (illness) will play tonight
Muhammad will play in tonight's game against the Utah Jazz after previously being listed as questionable on the Timberwolves' injury report due to an illness that forced him to miss one game. In Muhammad's brief absence, Brandon Rush surprisingly saw more minutes than Nemanja Bjelica but will likely have his role reduced to normal now that Minnesota has all of their key rotation players available. Unfortunately, none of the aforementioned players are in play on an 8-game slate given how many minutes Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau prefers to give his starters.
Shabazz Muhammad (illness) ruled out for tonight
Muhammad will not play in tonight's game against the Washington Wizards' due to an illness. Timberwolves' head coach Tom Thibodeau is notorious for playing his starters heavy minutes, so Muhammad's minutes will likely be absorbed mostly by Andrew Wiggins, Zach LaVine, and Nemanja Bjelica. The duo of Wiggins and LaVine were already solid options prior to this news and their minutes floors are just now further cemented sans Muhammad. As far as Bjelica, he now becomes an intriguing tournament punt option for stone minimum across the industry and could approach 25 minutes of playing time in this contest.
Shabazz Muhammad (knee) will play tonight; Brandon Rush (toe) ruled out
Muhammad has been activated by the Timberwolves and is fully expected to play in tonight's game against Memphis after missing three consecutive games with a sore right knee. There has been no indication or confirmation of a minutes restriction for Muhammad at the time of this writing. The reinsertion of Muhammad into Minnesota's rotation should cut into the minutes of Nemanja Bjelica and, to a lesser extent, Andrew Wiggins. however, Timberwolves coach Tom Thibodeau is known to run his starters into the ground, so Wiggins' playing time may not be affected much, if at all.
