Value Line Stack In Great Home Matchup

Two seasons removed from a rough offensive output in which he scored just 11 goals on a career-worst 5.2 SH%, veteran sniper Jakub Voracek has rebounded nicely with 79 points in 74 games this season. Skating alongside talented young playmakers Nolan Patrick and Oskar Lindblom on Philadelphia's second line, Voracek should be on your radar tonight taking on a Rangers squad that has surrendered the most shot attempts and owns the league's worst xGA/60 over their past 15 games. With the majority of his production coming on home ice this season, Voracek should be the focal point of Philadelphia's offense tonight in a game where home ice advantage will allow head coach Dave Hakstol to keep his best scoring threat away from New York's top line at even strength, making him a solid option to target in a game Philadelphia should have no problems finding the back of the net in.

This defenseman is quietly having an incredible offensive season

With so much focus on guys like Erik Karlsson, PK Subban and John Klingberg, it feels like Shayne Gostisbehere's offensive season is flying under-the-radar. He sits tied for fourth in points with 50 and is also tied for fourth with an 0.81 points per game. The Philadelphia Flyers host the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight in what should be an offensive battle. Along with his points, Ghost averages 1.36 blocks per game and 2.86 shots per game, which gives him a solid floor. He is an expensive option tonight, but if/when the Flyers get on the board he is likely to be a big contributor to that.

Weak Florida Penalty Kill to Get Gostisbehere Going?

The Panthers have been getting great goaltending from Roberto Luongo, but they remain a team that really struggles on the penalty kill. Enter the Flyers, one of the more productive power play teams in the league this year. Gostisbehere quarterbacks the top unit, a group that should no trouble generating quality shot attempts and scoring chances against the Florida penalty kill. Quantity and quality allowed has been an issue for the Panthers while shorthanded, as they have the fourth highest rate of shot attempts allowed in the aggregate and the third most high-danger attempts allowed on a per hour basis. Though he has not lit the lamp in a month, Gostisbehere continues to get the puck to the net, so some puck luck should come his way soon enough. A friendly power play matchup could be the setup to help get the monkey off his back.

Finding defensemen that produce across the board is crucial

Shayne Gostisbehere is one of the elite daily fantasy defensemen because of his ability to produce stats across the board. In his last 10 games, he has 11 points, 24 blocks and 25 shots on goal, which averages 4.8 DraftKings points per game. The Philadelphia Flyers do not have an easy matchup tonight as they head to Columbus to take on the Blue Jackets. Philadelphia has struggled in Columbus, not winning a game there in over a decade, so this may not be a great matchup. However, the Flyers can still score even if they come up short in the win department. As shown though, Ghost doesn't need to get on the scoresheet to provide value as his blocks and shots give him a very high floor and his offense included gives him an elite ceiling.

This defenseman has been dominant on the power play this season

While the Flyers have not at the elite power play previous season, they still have a pretty good one converting on 20 percent of their opportunities. Shayne Gostisbehere has been especially successful as 16 of his 26 points have come with the man advantage. It's no surprise that this power play is successful with the talent that is on there with Jakub Voracek, Claude Giroux, Wayne Simmonds and Sean Couturier. Buffalo has struggled this season, allowing 3.35 goals per game, which is among the worst in the NHL. Robin Lehner is in net tonight and while he has been decent with regards to save percentage, he has allowed 2.76 goals against per game which isn't great. I like the Flyers a lot tonight in this road matchup and look to make plenty of stacks despite the likely high ownership.

Multi-Point Upside on the Blue Line

The Los Angeles Kings are one of the National Hockey Leagues most penalized teams, and they have done a very poor job killing penalties in the month of December, as evident by their 25th ranked penalty kill, which brings our attention to Shayne Gostisbehere. The Philadelphia Flyers dynamic offensive defenseman is fresh off a two-goal game, and he is having himself a very good offensive season. With the Kings inability to stay out of the penalty box, Gostisbehere should see plenty of scoring chances on the power play alone tonight, and he is one of top options on the blue line this evening on this five-game slate.

After a "sophomore slump" this third-year defenseman looks dominant

Shayne Gostisbehere had a bit of a down year last year in his second NHL season, however this year he is back to his rookie ways. With 20 points in 24 games, Gostisbehere is on pace for nearly 70 points which is incredible. Although it is highly unlikely that he would reach that mark, he is in a great spot tonight to continue crushing. With Cam Talbot on the shelf, the Edmonton Oilers turn to Laurent Brossoit who has not only struggled this season with a 3.81 goals against average and a .872 save percentage, but in his career. The Oilers sit dead last with a 72.22 PK% which is a huge benefit for Ghost because of his strength on the PP. Of his 20 points, 11 have come on the power play which is something I expect to continue tonight.

Multi-Point Potential on the Blue Line

The Pittsburgh Penguins are another team we can attack tonight. Pittsburgh remains a defensive liability, thanks to their weak possession game (24th in both CA/60, and HDCA/60), and the amount of scoring chances they allow (29th in SCA/60).The Penguins are also the National Hockey Leagues second-most penalized team, and they have struggled mightily when short-handed (24th ranked penalty kill). This brings out attention to the Philadelphia Flyers offensive defensemen Shayne Gostisbehere and Ivan Provorov. Both blue liners see plenty of ice time at both even strength and with the man advantage. With that being said, Gostisbehere is the top play here in all formats, with Provorov making a solid contrarian play in GPPs.

Underpriced defenseman in line for huge minutes

With Shayne Gostisbehere scheduled to miss tonight, Ivan Provorov should see a bevy of minutes, particularly on the Flyers' top power play unit. Provorov is far too cheap across the industry, particularly on FanDuel, where he is just $4,600. Last time out, Provorov logged a season-high 28 minutes, taking seven shots on goal while blocking three shots. Ivan also picked up three helpers and could be in line for more success against a Chicago team that has lost five of their last six contests.

Top Offensive Option From The Blue Line?

The Arizona Coyotes are in full rebuild mode, and they are unlikely to improve much during the season, which means we can continue to pick on them each and every night they hit the ice, especially when they are on the road. The Coyotes have not only been a terrible defensive team in 2017-18, they also own the National Hockey Leagues worst penalty kill, which is where Shayne Gostisbehere and Ivan Provorov come in. The Philadelphia Flyers have two very talented and young offensive defenseman and both of them have big game upside this evening. If Gostisbehere is able to play tonight (day-to-day due to a shoulder injury suffered Saturday night), he is the one to focus on; however, if he is out, Provorov instantly becomes one of the top point-per-dollar plays on the entire slate.
