Shea Theodore Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
This line will see plenty of high danger scoring chances
Jonathan Marchessault has been kind of quiet lately, but not from a lack of shooting. This Vegas winger has piled up 19 shots on goal in the past five games. Marchessault, Max Pacioretty and William Karlsson draw a great matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks, who continue to struggle defensively and give up the most HDCA/60 in the league at 13.75. If pairing a defenseman with this stack, look to Shea Theodore as he is offensive minded, and correlates on the power-play, along with Karlsson and Marchessault.
*Update Brandon Pirri has taken Pacioretty’s spot on the top line
A defenseman to round out your roster tonight
Roman Josi is the top defenseman to target tonight given his consistency, but if you are looking for a complimentary piece or just a little savings on defense, Shea Theodore ticks all the boxes. Theodore is on Vegas' top power play unit, and in each of his last six contests, Shea has taken three or more shots on goal. The points haven't been there for him, but his peripherals are strong. Vegas will be looking for payback after the Kings smoked them 4-1 last weekend, and Shea is a cheap way to gain exposure to the home team.
Theodore Rising to Expectations
Just as Max Pacioretty has caught fire for the Vegas Golden Knights, the same can be said for defenseman Shea Theodore. It’s amazing what scoring a few goals can do for a team as Theodore has been able to find the score sheet eight times over the last eight games. This is not bad at all when you consider that Thoedore’s performance in the first 19 games mirrored that of the teams as he had just seven points to his credit before the last eight games. It also doesn’t hurt that his 66 shots on goal is second on the team and 12th in the league where defensemen are concerned.
Defenseman Looks to Break Out of Slump
Although the credit for the Golden Knights last year was largely attributed to their first line and goaltending, Shea Theodore was one of the most critical pieces for Vegas' run to the Stanley Cup Final. He finished last year with 29 points in 61 games, by far a career high. This year, he's off to a slow start with just one point in eight games. His price has plummeted to bargain bin levels, so now seems to be the time to buy. He's still the quarterback on an elite powerplay unit and has a favorable matchup at home against the Canucks.
Up-and-coming blue liner looking for first point of season
Shea Theodore has yet to find the scoresheet this season despite his uptick in ice time. Theodore has been on Golden Knights' second power play unit to start the season, but yesterday at practice, he was working on the team's top power play unit. Shea averaged more than two shots on goal per game last season and still hasn't reached his full potential. At $4,500 on DraftKings and $4,300 on FanDuel, Theodore is a worthwhile option on defense given his opportunity with the man-advantage against a Washington team that allowed seven goals last time out. Look for Vegas to put together their best effort tonight in the Stanley Cup rematch.
Vegas defenseman has found his groove over the past week
A matchup with the Arizona Coyotes seems great on first glance, but Antti Raanta has been dialed in after the All-Star break, posting a 10-3-1 record, 1.95 GAA and .940 SV%. Nonetheless, Shea Theodore has found his game once again, collecting at least a point in four straight games. During this stretch, Shea has peppered opposing netminders with 15 shots on goal. As the Golden Knights' number one option on the top power play, Shea will have his opportunities. Helping matters will be that Vegas is averaging a healthy 3.61 goals per game in Sin City which is third-best in the National Hockey League. Given his bargain price, Shea Theodore makes for a nice option in cash games alongside John Carlson.
Grab this young defenseman while others steer clear
Any questions regarding the health of Shea Theodore were answered last time out as he logged 25 minutes of ice time in his return against the Ottawa Senators. While Shea has not posted a point since January 30th, tonight might be a good night to jump on him especially in tournaments. Theodore stills sees sufficient power play time on the Golden Knights' loaded top power play unit with Reilly Smith, William Karlsson and Jonathan Marchessault. When comparing Theodore with other defensemen in his same price range, it is hard to find a better play at this price given his role with the man-advantage. In a game that should feature more than a handful of goals, Theodore is a cheap way to gain exposure to the Pacific Division leaders.
Offensive Blue Line Options
The Edmonton Oilers poor defensive play, subpar goaltending and atrocious penalty kill (dead-last overall in the National Hockey League on the penalty kill) has me targeting the three-headed monster (Shea Theodore, Colin Miller and Brad Hunt) in Vegas tonight. All three of the Golden Knights defensemen are reasonably priced industry wide, and they all receive ample time on the power play, which is key tonight, because the Oilers just cant stop the bleeding when short-handed. Shea Theodore is the top option overall, and he also skates on the Golden Knights top power play, while Colin Miller and Brad Hunt share power play quarterback duties on the second unit, and with Hunts inexpensive price tag across the board, he may be the best bang for your buck on defense this evening.
Value on the Vegas blue-line
The New York Islanders have been the worst defensive team in the NHL this season. They've allowed an NHL worst 3.63 goals against per game as we hit the All-Star break and things have not been improving as they've surrendered a troubling 63.87 CA/60 since the beginning of December and have been awful by puck possession standards (46.31 CF%) during the same time frame. Enter Shea Theodore who remains very reasonably priced despite a solid season. The 22-year-old dished out a pair of assists in the Golden Knight's last game and has now picked up four assists in his last four games. He's routinely logging 20+ minutes of ice-time per game and has earned the job as the point-man on the top power-play unit where he should feast on New York's Eastern Conference worst 73.8% penalty kill.
Bright lights, big city. Vegas blue liner is an elite option in all formats
While Shea Theodore is pointless in three consecutive games, he and the Golden Knights draw an excellent matchup tonight against the National Hockey League's worst penalty kill. Complicating matters for the Oilers is their goaltending situation, as Cam Talbot left last night's game in the first period. No matter who the Oilers seem to throw out there, nothing seems to change as the team's sub .900 save percentage is among the worst in the league. Shea Theodore has been one of the Golden Knights' bright spots, amidst a number of bright spots this season, and tonight he seems highly likely to get back in the scoresheet. Vegas is averaging a spectacular 3.67 goals per game on home ice and Theodore figures to be involved heavily on the point while on the power play tonight. Likewise, teammate Colin Miller is a nice source of salary savings too, but Theodore is the preferred option given his talent. In cash games, pairing Brent Burns and Shea Theodore is a great way to start building. Count on Vegas to score three or more goals tonight, with Theodore hitting the scoresheet at least once.
