Sven Baertschi Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Vancouver forward returns after lengthy absence
Sven Baertschi returned from a two month absence and logged nearly 17 minutes of ice time for the Canucks in their 5-0 defeat to Columbus. As a winger on the second line with Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser, Sven Baertschi will have an opportunity to produce, especially on home ice against a poor Anaheim team. Baertschi's price tag across the industry (DraftKings - $4,200 and FanDuel - $4,000) really brings down the affordability of Vancouver's second line in this plus matchup.
An Often Overlooked Option on Vancouver's Top Line
With the Sedin twins quickly moving towards the end of their impressive careers in Vancouver, the Canucks' front office is eager to see what exactly they have in the talented young trio of Brock Boeser, Bo Horvat and Sven Baertschi. While Boeser and Horvat are likely key pieces to the organizational rebuild, the verdict is still somewhat out for Baertschi. The 25-year-old looks to be back to full health and has played well lately; posting two goals and three assists over their last five games. Baertschi lit the lamp against the Avalanche the only other time he's faced them this season and has been much more productive on home ice as he owns six goals and nine assists in 21 games at Rogers Arena.
Canuck winger makes for low-owned tournament target
Sven Baertschi has not had a multi point game since November 18th, but tonight could be a night Bo Horvat, Brock Boeser and Baertschi explode. Last month, Florida allowed a whopping 3.70 goals per game, second to only the New York Islanders. Additionally, despite playing only 10 games, Florida racked up 167 penalty minutes, by far the worst in the National Hockey League. Florida has had issues staying out of the box all season long, and with Vancouver riding high after a dominant 6-0 win in Dallas, the Panthers could be in trouble tonight. Sven logged a season-high 19:38 last game and seems to be trending upward after missing some time due to injury. He is the cheapest of the Canucks' youth line, and the trio make for an excellent stack tonight at what should be lower ownership than other lines.
A new look top line in Vancouver
When Sven Baertshi is productive, good things happen for the Vancouver Canucks. To illustrate this, in Vancouver's nine losses this season, Baertschi has managed to tally just one goal and two asssists (and is a minus 6). However, in their nine wins, he's racked up five goals and five assists (and is a plus 9). Tonight, he draws a favorable home matchup against a Los Vegas team is clearly starting their decent towards the bottom of the Pacific Division. Baertschi is a former first-round pick and is developing a very nice rapport alongside Bo Horvat and Brock Boeser on the Canuck's new-look top forward line. He's still very inexpensive across the industry and is one of my favorite dollar-for-dollar plays on the board.
Fading This Line Would Be A Mistake Tonight
With the Washington Capitals, Toronto Maple Leafs and Dallas Stars looking like the top offenses to target, we are going to need to find some salary relief, as all three of these teams top lines are very expensive to roster. Although we can look to players like Zach Hyman, Jakub Vrana and Devante Smith-Pelly, all of these players lack power play time, making them a lot less appealing in cash games. So lets dig into some inexpensive options that see time on the power play. All three members of the Vancouver Canucks top line (Sven Baertschi, Bo Horvat and Brock Boeser) are certainly playable everywhere tonight. Not only are they moderate-to-low priced across the industry, they also have massive upside (as we saw Saturday night), and the Detroit Red Wings are a favorable matchup. Outside of the Canucks top line, we also have Jason Zucker and Kyle Connor. Both of these talented skaters play on their teams top line and number one power play unit, making them solid additions to your cash game lineup or as part of a line stack in GPPs. Lastly, we will look at the Vegas Golden Knights top two scoring lines. Sure, the Golden Knights have overachieved, but their offense is legit and the Maple Leafs are far from a defensive juggernaut. Both David Perron and Reilly Smith have multi-goal upside and they will not break the bank.
