Taylor Hall Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
This MVP isn't having the season one would have hoped.
The New Jersey Devils host the Ottawa Senators, the team with the worst defensive numbers in the league. Ottawa is allowing a league-worst 3.86 goals against per game and has the worst CF% in the league with a 42.56 percent mark. The New Jersey Devils could score in bunches and this game could be a surprise high-scoring game. Taylor Hall is playing with Travis Zajac and Blake Coleman, and while Hall isn't having the best season after winning the MVP last year, but he's still been good. He has 33 points in 31 games but it is the 9 goals that stand out. After scoring 39 last year, he is on pace for just 23. Regardless, this is a premium matchup for Hall and his linemates and going with a two-man mini-stack with Hall and Zajac might make the most sense as they both play on the top power play unit together.
This potentially underowned line has a solid matchup.
It is likely that Martin Jones of the San Jose Sharks is going to be a chalky goalie tonight which would make the New Jersey Devils a solid contrarian and leverage play. Taylor Hall, Kyle Palmieri and Nico Hischier would be the go-to line to use as they are the one that will be scoring for the Devils should they get their offence going. Hall has 3 goals and 12 points over his last 10 games and has 8 goals and 31 points in 28 games this season. Martin Jones has struggled immensely with an ugly 2.91 goals against average and a .900 save percentage so there is no reason to trust him.
The top line in New Jersey is an under-the-radar play tonight.
With the Florida Panthers — the New Jersey Devils opponent — likely garnering heavy ownership, the Devils are actually in a solid spot. Taylor Hall playing alongside Nico Hischier and Kyle Palmieri is a great line and being on the road does hurt their matchup, it's still a spot to consider. Over the last three weeks, the New Jersey Devils are putting up elite possession numbers with a 63.45 CF/60 which is second-best in the NHL. The Panthers are allowing 3.62 goals against per game this which is the second-worst mark in the league which should allow this Devils team to continue their possession dominance.
Bad Puck Luck Has Led to Slow Start
There are 40 players with at least 50 shots on goal this season. Of those 40, just five of them have a shooting percentage below 6%. Justin Williams (2%), Boone Jenner (5.5%) Richard Rakell (5.6%) Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (5.6%) and Taylor Hall (5.8%). Hall's shooting percentage last year (14%) was more than double his current rate, which likely means some positive regression is coming. The assists have still been there with 12 in 15 games, but the goals should start coming in bunches for #9.
Multi-Goal Upside Once Again
The New Jersey Devils will visit the New York Islanders who are ranked last in CF/60 (46.52) in the NHL. We know the Devil’s top line of Taylor Hall, Kyle Palmeiri and Nico Hischier have been possession monsters this season, posting a CF% of 54.39 while on the ice together. This trio has multi-goal upside again in a match up they should dominate from puck drop. Will Butcher can be used for some salary relief, and correlates on the first power-play unit.
This top line is in a great spot against the Dallas Stars who are on a back-to-back.
The New Jersey Devils are hosting a Dallas Stars team that is on a back-to-back after losing to Ottawa last night. The Devils have only played three games so far and Hall hasn't scored yet but he's averaging four shots per game so I expect that to change soon. He has three assists but linemate Kyle Palmieri has been the one dominating in the scoring department putting up six goals in those three games. Nico Hischier is centering the line and with the trio remaining in-tact on the top power play unit we get full-game correlation which gives this line elite upside.
Top Overall Line Tonight
The top overall line stack of the night is the Devils top line which features Taylor Hall, Nico Hischier, and Kyle Palmieri. With a whopping 32 combined points over their last 10 games, this trio draws a juicy matchup against a Rangers team that has allowed the most shot attempts and owns the worst xGA/60 over their past 15 games. Not required to play the tough minutes against the opposition's top scoring threats, home ice advantage will allow head coach John Hynes to get his most talented scoring line against one of the many weaker defensive lines of New York throughout much of this game. In a must win game for the Devils expect a big performance from this trio in an important game for New Jersey as they fight for playoff contention.
This winger has been on fire in March
There could be an argument made for Taylor Hall as a Hart Trophy finalist. He has been a beast for the New Jersey Devils this season. He has been especially great lately as he has picked up 9 goals and 20 points in 15 games since March 1st. The Devils are in Montreal to take on a Habs team that has been a disaster this season. Over their last 10 games they have allowed 63.87 CA/60 which is the third worst in the NHL. Hall is expected to play with Nico Hischier and Kyle Palmieri, which is a great stack. A Hall/Palmieri mini-stack is in play tonight as well as they play on the top power play unit together which adds to their correlation.
Great matchup on tap for this MVP candidate
It's been an MVP-caliber season for Taylor Hall and he should have no trouble keeping things rolling tonight as he'll battle the defensively inept New York Islanders. Hall will take the ice this evening riding a six game point streak and has racked up a rather ridiculous 17 goals and 21 assists in 29 games since the All-Star break. He's torched the Islanders for two goals and a three assists in their three prior meetings this season and is locked into roughly 20 minutes of ice-time per night.
Multi-Point Night On Deck
Taylor Hall is on an absolute offensive tear, registering at least one point in 23 straight games (including seven goals in his last eight contests), and he finds himself in a very favorable matchup tonight at the Prudential Center. The Montreal Canadiens are a banged up and struggling team, and I think we see Hall and the Devils top line dominate this game. Hall continues to be a cash game beast on a nightly basis, and I cannot see the Canadiens keeping him of the scoreboard this evening.
