DEN QB Teddy Bridgewater placed on IR; WR Jerry Jeudy and WR Tim Patrick activated from COVID list

Teddy Bridgewater has been placed on IR officially ending his season, while both Jerry Jeudy and Tim Patrick have been activated from the COVID list ahead of the Broncos matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs this Saturday. With Bridgewater officially out, Drew Lock will draw his third straight start at quarterback. Lock is a capable backup but doesn't offer enough upside to be considered in DFS contests. He will however, have his top three receivers available this week as both Jeudy and Patrick are set to return. It is difficult to play any of the Broncos receivers when they are all healthy because the target share is usually so spread out. It will be best to avoid this situation in DFS contests this weekend outside of large-field GPPs.

DEN WR Tim Patrick placed on COVID list

Tim Patrick has been placed on the COVID list ahead of the Broncos matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers. HC Vic Fangio stated that he believed no players placed on the list today would be eligible to play on Sunday, effectively ruling out Patrick for this weekend's game. With Patrick out, the receiving corps will be led by Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton with both Kendall Hinton and Diontae Spencer expected to play a larger role in the offense. Right now, it is tough to trust many pass-catchers on the Broncos as it seems Drew Lock will once again start this Sunday. The Broncos will likely pound the ball on the ground against one of the worst run defenses in football taking away opportunities from the Broncos wideouts. It is best to look elsewhere than Denver's receiving corps this weekend in DFS contests.

DEN WR Tim Patrick, TE Albert Okwuegbunam, and RB Mike Boone all listed questionable for Sunday

Tim Patrick, Albert Okwuegbunam, and Mike Boone all have been listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. If Tim Patrick were to miss it is likely that Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton could play a larger role in the offense than normal with a few more targets thrown their way. If Albert O were to miss Noah Fant would continue to see the bulk of the tight end work with Eric Saubert available to back him up. Mike Boone is mostly a special teams player so his absence would not be DFS relevant.

Practice squad WR Kendall Hinton reportedly will play QB tomorrow for Broncos

Practice squad WR Kendall Hinton will reportedly play QB tomorrow for the Broncos, although the Broncos will likely also run some wildcat, and even Hinton's status is yet to be confirmed by the Broncos directly. Hinton played QB in college at Wake Forest, but there is a reason he converted to WR: across four seasons he threw 133-251 (53%) for 1504 yards and an 8-7 TD-INT ratio. He clearly will not function as a normal backup QB would, but could allow the Broncos to at least have some passing threat as needed. This change at QB effectively kills the potential for all Broncos' pass catchers, barring a fluky long TD pass. The running backs could see more carries than usual, but without a real passing game, facing a stacked box nearly every play will limit the value of the carries.

While this entire situation certainly is interesting, the Broncos are a team you're likely better off avoiding this week.

All QBs on Broncos' roster are ineligible to play Sunday

All the Broncos' QBs have been ruled ineligible to play this week, with Jeff Driskel testing positive Thursday, then Drew Lock, Brett Rypien and Blake Bortles all being declared close contacts of Driskel. This will effectively kill the value of all the Broncos' pass catchers, while increasing the volume of work for the RBs. However, the Broncos are likely to struggle offensively all day, and there is a good chance they are barely able to move the ball. Practice squad WR Kendall Hinton appears to be likely to get work as QB Sunday, but it is impossible to know exactly what the Broncos will do Sunday.

Tim Patrick active Sunday

Tim Patrick is active Sunday after missing Week 8. His role has grown throughout the season, with two consecutive games over 100 yards prior to getting hurt Week 7.

Rapoport: Michael Thomas, Josh Jacobs, Phillip Lindsay, and Tim Patrick all expected to play Sunday

Ian Rapoport made his usual news update in the middle of the night, confirming that the above four players are expected to play this week. It is still worth confirming each player's status when their teams release inactives, but the risk any of them are out seems low.

Tim Patrick (hamstring) and Phillip Lindsay (foot) expected to play on Sunday

Patrick and Lindsay were both limited in practice all three days this week, but head coach Vic Fangio told reporters on a conference call that he expects both players to play in this Sunday's Week 9 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons despite their questionable designations on the Broncos' injury report. The likely return of Patrick puts a major damper on the projected volume that DaeSean Hamilton and KJ Hamler might see from quarterback Drew Lock since Patrick has largely been the de facto number one wider receiver since Cortland Sutton went down with a season-ending injury all the way back at the start of the season. Meanwhile, Jerry Jeudy commanded his largest target market share of his young career in last Sunday's win at 26.3%, so it'll be interesting to see if he can emerge as the alpha wide receiver in this offense even with Patrick back and remains priced at a discount around the daily fantasy industry.
