TJ Leaf (ankle) available to play Wednesday

Leaf went through shootaround without any setbacks and will be available to play in Wednesday's matchup with the San Antonio Spurs after missing three consecutive games due to a sprained left ankle. Leaf doesn't project to have a prominent role in the Pacers frontcourt rotation, and he'll remain firmly behind Thaddeus Young, Domantas Sabonis, and Myles Turner in the pecking order for minutes. However, the Pacers do have quantitative draft capital invested in Leaf, so it'd be far from surprising if he begins to siphon away some minutes from the aforementioned trio and Kyle O'Quinn, though Leaf's playing time is unlikely to amount to any relevancy for daily fantasy barring an injury.

Domantas Sabonis (knee) will play Monday; TJ Leaf (ankle) remains out

Sabonis has officially been upgraded from questionable to available and will play in Monday's matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves after a one-game absence due to a bruised right knee. With TJ Leaf remaining sidelined, Sabonis will likely resume his bountiful role as the backup center and power forward, which has allowed him to averaged 25 minutes per game this season despite not playing normal minutes in last Friday's blowout loss. The sample size is obviously small, but Sabonis currently leads Pacers' core rotation with rates of 1.30 DraftKings and 1.23 FanDuel points per minute and even compliments that efficiency with a respectable 23.9% usage rate overall, good for third on the team among players with at least 50 minutes played this season.

Sabonis has officially been downgraded from questionable to out for Saturday's matchup with the Brooklyn Nets due to a bruised right knee and will join TJ Leaf, who is missing his third consecutive game with a sprained left ankle, among the Pacers inactives. The Pacers are suddenly extremely depleted in the frontcourt, and Kyle O'Quinn will likely be thrust into the primary backup big man role off the bench. However, it remains to be seen if that actually turns into anything other than just spelling Myles Turner when he's off the court. The matchup with Brooklyn should make it easy for head coach Nate McMillan to utilize more small-ball lineup combinations, which would benefit Doug McDermott, Tyreke Evans, and possibly even Cory Joseph, assuming Turner and Thaddeus Young play somewhere near their usual minute allotment. If necessary, Alize Johnson is a candidate to absorb some of the backup power forward minutes as well.

The Pacers are usually pretty cautious with their injury reporting, so it would not be shocking to see Sabonis available for tonight's contest despite the downgrade in status. As for Leaf, if he's unable to suit up once again, Sabonis would likely resume his bountiful role as the backup center and power forward, which has allowed him to averaged 25 minutes per game this season despite not playing normal minutes in Friday's blowout loss. Myles Turner (elbow) will play off the bench Saturday; T.J. Leaf (ankle) ruled out

Turner has been cleared to play and will suit up for tonight's game against the Orlando Magic after previously being listed as questionable on the Indiana Pacers' injury report with a sprained right elbow ligament that had forced him to miss nine consecutive games, while T.J. Leaf will remain sidelined for the second straight game due to a sprained right ankle but has logged just 16 minutes total over his last three games. Turner won't be subject to a minute restriction in his return to action, but he will come off the bench, meaning that Domantas Sabonis will continue to start at the center spot for at least one additional game and possibly on a permanent basis moving forward. Bogdan Bogdanovic has actually been the largest beneficiary of the Pacers current starting lineup sans Turner, as he owns a +2.5% usage rate differential when they're on the floor together, and he has also seen his per minute production spike to 0.80 fantasy points per minute on DraftKings and 0.78 on FanDuel.

Leaf is officially available to play in tonight's game against the New Orleans Pelicans after previously being upgraded to questionable on the Indiana Pacers' injury report with a sprained left ankle that had forced him to miss one game. With Domantas Sabonis already ruled out with a right calf contusion, Leaf should step into significant playing time off the bench behind Myles Turner and Thaddeus Young now that he's been added to active roster. The chances of Leaf playing through his aforementioned ankle sprain increased greatly earlier in the day with the news of Sabonis being unavailable, as the Pacers will need all hands on deck in an effort to slow down the duo of Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins in the Pelicans frontcourt. That said, Alex Poythress could still see some minutes at the power forward spot with Sabonis ruled out and possible foul trouble on the horizon for the starters, while Al Jefferson will continue to serve as the backup center behind Turner but should see a slight downgrade in playing time with Turner officially free his minute restriction, according to head coach Nate McMillan.

In Leaf's absence, their will some extra minutes available for Domantas Sabonis, who is expected to head back to the bench with Turner being listed as the probable starter at center on Sunday, and possibly even Al Jefferson as the backup center if head coach Nate McMillan decides to experiment with playing Sabonis and Turner alongside each other in the frontcourt, something that should work relatively well on paper with Sabonis' ability to stretch the floor.
