Tony Allen Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Anthony Davis (adductor) questionable Monday; Jameer Nelson (ankle) and Tony Allen (knee) ruled out
Davis has officially been listed as questionable on the New Orleans Pelicans' injury report for tonight's game against the Houston Rockets due to a left adductor injury he re-aggravated during the fourth quarter of Sunday's win, while Jameer Nelson and Tony Allen have each been ruled out with their respective ailments, the former missing his second consecutive game. Head coach Alvin Gentry opted to roll with a tighter rotation in Sunday's contest rather than disperse Nelson's minutes to other reserve players like Ian Clark, as every starter other than DeMarcus Cousins ended up playing at least 37 minutes. That said, he's much likelier to extend the rotation on the second night of a back-to-back set in a game that has serious blowout risk if Davis is eventually ruled out. As is the case anytime Davis is unavailable, Cousins would become an elite option for all formats on Monday's slate and owns a +5.1% usage rate differential while leading the Pelicans by a wide margin with a 40.2% usage rate with Davis, Nelson, and Allen off the court this season.
Tony Allen (knee inflammation) likely to play Friday
Allen will most likely play in tomorrow's game against the Denver Nuggets, according to New Orleans Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry, after missing three consecutive games due to left knee inflammation. His probable return will likely displace Cheick Diallo from the rotation and E'Twaun Moore should begin seeing his playing time to diminish with Rajon Rondo back in the fold as well. Speaking of Rondo, he will suit up for his third game of the season after being a surprise late-addition to the Pelicans active roster on Monday night and, according to head coach Alvin Gentry, will start and see somewhere around 20-24 minutes of action on Friday evening, up from the 14-16 minute restriction he was subject to on Wednesday.
Tony Allen (knee) ruled out Wednesday; Rajon Rondo (sports hernia) will start and play 14-16 minutes
Allen has been ruled out and won't play in tonight's game against the Toronto Raptors after previously being listed as questionable on the Memphis Grizzlies' injury report with left knee inflammation that has now forced him to miss three consecutive games. Meanwhile, Rajon Rondo will suit up for his second game of the season after being a surprise late-addition to the Pelicans active roster on Monday night and, according to head coach Alvin Gentry, will start and see somewhere around 14-16 minutes of action on Wednesday evening. Somewhat surprisingly, Cheick Diallo has entered the Pelicans rotation in Allen's absence, though E'Twaun Moore has been the main beneficiary of extended run over his normal minute workload and will continue to be on the radar for daily fantasy formats as long as Allen is sidelined, though the return of Rondo douses some of that intrigue as he continues to work his way back from sports hernia surgery.
Tony Allen (knee) questionable for Wednesday; Rajon Rondo (sports hernia) could play 14-16 minutes
Allen is considered as questionable and will be listed as such on the New Orleans Pelicans' injury report for tomorrow's game against the Toronto Raptors with left knee inflammation that has already forced him to miss two consecutive games. Meanwhile, Rajon Rondo is expected to suit up for his second game of the season after being a surprise late-addition to the Pelicans active roster on Monday night and, according to head coach Alvin Gentry, could see somewhere around 14-16 minutes of action on Wednesday evening.
Tony Allen (knee inflammation) will remain out Monday
Allen has been ruled out and won't play in tomorrow's game against the Atlanta Hawks after previously being removed from the New Orleans' Pelicans injury report with left knee inflammation that has now forced him to miss two consecutive games. Somewhat surprisingly, Cheick Diallo entered the Pelicans rotation in Allen's absence and saw 19 minutes off the bench, though it's too early to tell whether that was a purely matchup-based decision by head coach Alvin Gentry or a trend going forward with Allen sidelined. E'Twaun Moore could also see some extended run over his normal minute workloads, but, all in all, this news does not do much to move the needle of anyone in the Pelicans rotation in terms of daily fantasy production.
Tony Allen (knee inflammation) ruled out Saturday
Allen has been ruled out and won't play in tonight's game against the Los Angeles Clippers due to left knee inflammation, despite never appearing on the New Orleans Pelicans' injury report at any point during the day. This is the first game Allen has missed this season, and a majority of his minutes will likely be absorbed by Ian Clark off the bench, while either E'Twaun Moore or Dante Cunningham could also see some extended run over their normal minute workloads. That said, all in all, this news does not do much to move the needle of anyone in the Pelicans rotation in terms of daily fantasy production.
Tony Allen (calf) out indefinitely
Allen exited the season finale early after suffering the injury and he's considered doubtful for Memphis' series with San Antonio. Over the course of the season Kawhi Leonard played the Grizzlies three times. In the two matchups when Tony Allen was active, Leonard failed to exceed 33.4 FD points, but when Vince Carter replaced him in the starting lineup, Leonard managed to score 32 actual points and grab 12 rebounds on his way to 57.4 FD points. Ahead of his tough matchup with Memphis, Leonard has been priced down to $8.3k ($8.5k DK), well off his $9.9k ($10.0k DK) asking price in mid-march.
Mike Conley (eye) ruled OUT tonight, Andrew Harrison will start in his place; Tony Allen (eye) WILL play
Conley collided with Kawhi Leonard last night and he won't be able to play tonight. Harrison will draw the start, but it doesn't mean he'll play a ton of minutes. In his previous three starts, he played 22 minutes or less. When he's on the court with Marc Gasol, who's starting tonight, his usage is 17.6% and he produces 0.59 FD ppm. Allen will return from a one-game absence. When Conley is off the floor he enjoys a 1.3% bump in usage, but his fantasy production stays even at 0.76 FD ppm. He's a potential value option tonight, but he doesn't have a huge upside.
Marc Gasol (foot), JaMychal Green (shoulder), and Andrew Harrison (ankle) probable Wednesday; Mike Conley (eye), Tony Allen (eye) questionable
Gasol played 30 minutes last night in his return, but it was an overtime game. He could be limited tonight on a back-to-back as the Grizzlies prepare for the playoffs. Green only received 14 minutes Tuesday, he may be limited again as well. Zach Randolph would benefit from those two being held back, he's been a pretty good value their past. He's $1,000 less on FanDuel than DraftKings tonight. Andrew Harrison probably won't be much of a factor unless Conley is ultimately ruled out; he didn't even get on the court last night. Conley injured his eye in a collision with Kawhi Leonard after the game, he had been considered probable earlier today, so this is a downgrade. Allen is truly questionable, he sat out last night, which provided extra minutes for Vince Carter, James Ennis, and Troy Daniels. This is a situation worth monitoring as we approach lock.
Tony Allen (eye) ruled out tonight; Marc Gasol (foot), JaMychal Green (shoulder), and Andrew Harrison (ankle) will play
Allen will not play in tonight's game against the San Antonio Spurs after previously being listed as questionable on the Grizzlies' injury report with an eye injury. Additionally, Marc Gasol, JaMychal Green, and Andrew Harrison are all available to play despite carrying injury designations throughout the day with their respective ailments. The Grizzlies have yet to announce a starting lineup, but Gasol and Green should be expected to reclaim their normal spots at center and power forward which would send Brandan Wright and James Ennis back to the bench to resume their reserve roles. Gasol and Green are expected to have their minutes monitored by Grizzlies head coach David Fizdale, which removes them from consideration entirely on a full slate in a difficult matchup with the Spurs frontcourt defense.
