Tyler Ennis Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

At the Mercy of Luke Walton

First off, I will start this by saying I have no idea what goes through Luke Walton's mind. His rotations are some of the wackiest things I have ever seen in the NBA. Julius Randle played just eight minutes in the early December meeting between the Rockets and Lakers, but he started and dominated in the rematch last night. Things are unpredictable here. That will be especially true tonight with the team coming off a double overtime game on New Year's Eve. That said, it's hard to avoid the team on a four game slate. With Caldwell-Pope and Ball out again tonight, the guard value seems like the most logical spot to go. Tyler Ennis returned from a flu bug, started, and played very well on Sunday. He's basically minimum salary everywhere and is one of the top values on the slate in both cash games and tournaments.

D'Angelo Russell (personal) ruled out for Lakers

Russell remains with his family in Louisville, so he will not play tonight when the Lakers visit the Warriors. Jordan Clarkson and Tyler Ennis will be the ones to benefit from his absence. Metta World Peace got the start ahead of Ennis last night, but that was a special occasion as it was probably Mr. Peace's last game as a Laker. Now that they're on the road, Ennis should get the nod. He played 29 minutes last night, but couldn't find his shot, only managing to score five points. It didn't help that World Peace took 17 shots; Ennis should do better this time around and he still has a very friendly price. He's also motivated as he wants to prove himself to the organization, plus we can be relatively confident he'll get a solid workload - both things are very important on tonight's slate, so he's certainly worth another look.

D'Angelo Russell (knee) ruled out tonight; Tyler Ennis will start; Tarik Black (knee) available to play

Russell will not play in tonight's game against the San Antonio Spurs due to a sore left knee despite never appearing on the Lakers' injury report at any point throughout the day. In his absence, Tyler Ennis will draw the start at point guard and immediately enters tournament consideration despite the difficult matchup, while Tarik Black has also been cleared to play, but Lakers head coach Luke Walton failed to confirm whether Black would reclaim the starting center spot from Larry Nance, who started alongside Julius Randle in the previous game. Russell's injury is not considered serious and this is probably closer to a rest day for him than anything more significant. With Russell off the court since the All-Star break, both Ennis (24.6%) and Jordan Clarkson (33.8%) have been the clear beneficiaries of his time off the floor, as they each own at least a positive +3.5% usage rate differential (Clarkson sees a whopping +8.0% increase), albeit a limited sample. The matchup is less than ideal but Clarkson and Ennis are both more than worthy of tournament exposure on Wednesday's slate.

Brandon Ingram (right patella tendinitis) doubtful for Tuesday

Brandon Ingram missed last night's game since his knee was sore due to tendinitis. Ingram has been playing major minutes for the Lakers and it's likely a direct cause. Corey Brewer started in his place and played a shade over 19 minutes. David Nwaba played 29 minutes and Tyler Ennis also saw 26 minutes with Ingram out. Jordan Clarkson hurt his finger last night but still played 37 minutes. Ennis was the only one that had a huge game and it was aided by four steals. It's unlikely that Ennis can put up another huge performance against the Wizards but he'll likely see about 24 minutes once again with Ingram expected to be out.

Nick Young (illness) practices on Monday

Nick Young missed last night's game due to an illness and D'Angelo Russell replaced him in the starting lineup. Russell went on to become the youngest player in franchise history to score over 40 actual points. Considering how well Russell played, we'll have to expect he's sticking in the starting lineup. Nick Young will not be a viable DFS option off the bench and should be ignored. Tyler Ennis injured his shoulder in practice and will be examined again tomorrow. His status for Tuesday's game is unclear but he was not in play anyways.

Correction: David Nwaba will start ahead of Nick Young, not Tyler Ennis

Nwaba, and not Tyler Ennis, will join Ivica Zubac in the Lakers starting lineup for tonight's game against the Philadelphia 76ers, which sends Tarik Black and Nick Young to the bench to assume resume roles. Lakers head coach Luke Walton has been stating that he wants to try and start getting the younger Lakers players more experience, and it appears that he's conveniently decided to wait until a matchup with a fellow tanking Sixers squad. The fact that this game could have serious implications on whether the Lakers are able to keep their Top-3 protected pick in this year's draft or lose it to Philadelphia probably made this decision easier. But anyway, Zubac stands out as an elite option should he see 25 minutes of playing time or more in a juicy individual matchup with Jahlil Okafor "defense". On the other hand, Nwaba could be worth a dart throw in tournaments on the late slate, but he doesn't possess enough of a track record with the Lakers, or any team for that matter, to be confidently recommended.

Ivica Zubac and Tyler Ennis starting ahead of Tarik Black and Nick Young tonight

Tyler Ennis available to play Sunday

Ennis isn't expected to log a lot of minutes Sunday; he'll be behind D'Angelo Russell and Jordan Clarkson. He won't make much of an impact on Los Angeles' fantasy outlook.

Tyler Ennis traded from Houston to the Lakers

In a move that has little fantasy relevance, Ennis has been acquired by the Los Angeles Lakers from the Houston Rockets. Ennis has not topped 10 minutes of playing time since December 27th.

Tyler Ennis remains in the starting lineup, Rashad Vaughn to the bench

Tyler Ennis will remain in the starting lineup for the Bucks Sunday against the 76ers. With Khris Middleton playing, Rashad Vaughn will head back to the bench. Ennis is a GPP punt play only. On Friday night, he had his best game of the season. He finished that game with 9 points, 11 assists, and 6 rebounds in 38 minutes. He is just $4,100 on FD and $3,700 on DK.
