Tyler Ulis Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Top Value of the Night

Elfrid Payton, Devin Booker, Troy Daniels, and T.J. Warren are all unlikely to play for the Suns tonight in what should be the highest scoring game of the night. They will almost certainly lose to the Pelicans, but plenty of minutes are going to be available in the backcourt. Tyler Ulis has been much improved over the second half of the season, and he will likely be one of the most popular plays tonight. I'll comfortably lock him in all formats, as the price and opportunity are too good to ignore.

Excellent Source Of Value On FanDuel

Ullis is 6.2k on DraftKings tonight, but he's still 4.9k on FanDuel. Players that play on both sites usually will overlook someone if their expensive on one site. Payton is questionable, Booker is questionable, and Warren is already ruled out for tonight's game. He's played at least 30 minutes in four straight games and has played over 36 minutes in three straight games without Payton. He's scored at least 27 fantasy points in four straight games, and five of the last six games. He's an elite value play at this price on FanDuel, and should be considered for all formats.

Elfrid Payton (knee) ruled out Wednesday; Tyler Ulis will start

Payton has officially been ruled out for Wednesday's matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers after popping up on the Phoenix Suns' game notes as questionable with left knee tendinopathy. In his absence, Tyler Ulis will draw the start at point guard and has already played 30 minutes in two of the last three games even with Payton active. Additionally, Devin Booker and T.J. Warren will jointly miss their fifth consecutive game, so Troy Daniels and Josh Jackson will remain in the starting lineup for at least one additional game. Daniels has averaged 33 minutes per game over that span and been at least semi-consistent from a daily fantasy standpoint. For the most part, Jackson has been stellar with Warren and Booker sidelined and is averaging 38 minutes per game outside of a lone 27-minute effort in last Friday's blowout loss. Jackson also sports a +4.7% usage rate differential with Payton, Booker, Warren, and Tyson Chandler off the court this season and is averaging 1.01 fantasy points per minute on DraftKings and FanDuel in this scenario.

Tyler Ulis available to play Friday

After previously being listed as questionable, Tyler Ulis has been upgraded to active and available to play tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers. Ulis is by no means anywhere near a lock to see any court time tonight. Since the addition of Elfird Payton, Ulis has only seen the court once for a nine minute stretch against the Jazz. It looks like the Suns have firmly invested in giving Elfrid Payton a chance to run the show for the remainder of their season. Tyler Ulis is not unplayable for the late night slate in DFS tournaments.

Tyler Ulis is out Tonight

Tyler Ulis will not be available tonight as a result Josh Gray will be the primary back up point guard for the Suns. In addition to Josh Gray, Josh Jackson and Troy Daniels will also see a slight uptick in minutes.

Tyler Ulis (back spasms) listed out Saturday

Ulis is currently listed out on the latest version of the Phoenix Suns' game notes for Saturday's game against the Denver Nuggets due to lingering effects from back spasms, despite previously being called a game-time decision by interim head coach Jay Triano following the team's morning shootaround. Additionally, the Suns will be without both Devin Booker and Tyson Chandler for the second consecutive game, while Booker is missing his third straight games with a left hip pointer. The absence of Booker and Ulis will be mitigated a bit by the Suns' addition of Elfrid Payton at the trade deadline, who will be available to make his Suns debut this evening, and he'll likely start at point guard even once Booker is healthy enough to make a return to game action. The presence of Payton will likely throw a bit of a wrench into the Suns' recent usage dispersion with Booker sidelined, but Josh Jackson continues to lead the way with a +4.7% usage rate differential with Booker and Chandler off the court this season and has averaged 1.02 fantasy points per minute on DraftKings and 0.99 on FanDuel in this scenario as well.

Devin Booker (hip) and Tyson Chandler (neck) ruled out Saturday; Tyler Ulis (back) a game-time decision

Booker has officially been ruled out and won't play in Saturday's game against the Denver Nuggets after originally being listed as doubtful on the Phoenix Suns' injury report with a left hip pointer that has now forced him to miss three consecutive games, while Tyson Chandler will remain sidelined for the second straight game due to a sore neck. Additionally, Tyler Ulis has been classified as a game-time decision with back spasms even though he was previously considered unlikely to play. The absence of Booker and possibly Ulis will be mitigated a bit by the Suns' addition of Elfrid Payton, who will be available to make his Suns debut this evening, and he'll likely start at point guard even once Booker is healthy enough to make a return to game action.

Great Matchup and an Increased Role

Devin Booker has already been ruled out of tonight's game against the Lakers and it sounds like Tyler Ulis is the likely starter in his place. Ulis hasn't been the most productive player on a per-minute basis this season (0.74 FP/min), but we can project him to play around 30 minutes against the Lakers, who are one of the worst teams in the NBA at defending point guards. Ulis is cheap, he's going to see a bump in minutes, and he draws an elite matchup, which completes the holy trinity for DFS.

Devin Booker listed as questionable for Sunday

We'll need to wait until tomorrow to get any kind of confirmation on this one, but Booker is currently listed as questionable with a toe issue. If he's unable to play, T.J. Warren will become an elite target across the board and we should expect guys like Tyler Ulis, Greg Monroe and Josh Jackson. Mike James actually leads the Suns in usage rate with Booker off the floor this season (32.3% usage rate in 143 minutes), so he would become a dark-horse GPP play on tomorrow's small slate if Booker is indeed out. Josh Jackson should see an uptick in court time and would also become a viable punt play in tournaments.

Alex Len (ankle) and Tyler Ulis (quad) expected to play Friday

Len and Ulis are both expected to play in tonight's game against the Los Angeles Lakers after previously being listed as questionable on the Suns' injury report with their respective ailments. Both Len and Ulis project to see significant minutes off the bench and are presumably integral parts of this Suns' rotation, though it was difficult to get a better grip on how head coach Earl Watson plans to utilize his roster going forward given the massive blowout loss against the Portland Trail Blazers the other night. However, Watson was adamant about using the same starting unit as the season opener this evening, which means Marquese Chriss is expected to come off the bench once again after seeing just 12 minutes in the previous game.
