Vance Worley Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Vance Worley will start for Miami tonight instead of Jose Urena

Vance Worley will start for Miami tonight in Philadelphia with Jose Urena, who is bumped back to tomorrow. This is an upgrade to Phillies hitters, especially Rhys Hoskins (191 wRC+, .407 ISO vs RHP), who leads the majors with five HRs over the last week. RHBs (144 BF) have a .400 wOBA and 33.6 Hard% against Worley this year and a .337 wOBA for his career.

Carlos Beltran (123 wRC+, .207 ISO vs RHP since 2015) is cheapest Yankee LHB on DraftKings ($3.7K)

Vance Worley has pitched out of the pen since April and has occasionally gotten an excessive amount of called strikes in the past, but has little swing and miss ability (6.1 SwStr% this year) and is not a pitcher players should really be looking at in Yankee Stadium tonight, although he may be able to get a few batters looking in a weak lineup and cover his $4.7K DraftKings price if necessary. Two Yankee bats might potentially provide some value tonight. The obvious one is Carlos Beltran (123 wRC+, .207 ISO vs RHP since 2015), who strangely costs just $3.7K on both sites. LHBs have a .342 wOBA against Worley since last season. RHBs have just a .309 wOBA and Alex Rodriguez has just a 53 wRC+ and .149 ISO against them, which makes it a bit surprising to see him batting 5th, but he did homer last night and costs $3K or less on either site.

Texas projected for 2nd highest run total (4.77 runs) against Worley

Vance Worley has managed to eek out a major league career despite 5.5 career SwStr%. He uses deceptiveness to create more called strikes than the average pitcher, but that's difficult to maintain and at times it's come crashing down on him. That marks him as unreliable and not really to be considered tonight, although he is incredibly cheap, especially on DraftKings ($4.9K) and has occasionally pulled rabbits out of his hat. What makes this more confounding is that Texas should smack RHP around. They have the makings of a solid lineup and are projected for the 2nd highest run total of the night per our Vegas Odds page (4.77 runs). However, only Prince Fielder (138 wRC+, .152 ISO) and Mitch Moreland (125 wRC+, .223 ISO) have been above average against RHP since last season and even Fielder's power is lacking in that capacity. Perhaps the focus should be on rookie sensation Nomar Mazara tonight, who bats 2nd and has compiled a 181 wRC+ with 38.9% of his batted balls being hit hard, striking out just 13.6% of his first 22 PAs. It's a very small sample, but he's inexpensive and in a good spot tonight.
