Vaughn Taylor Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Vaughn Taylor and Ben Martin are both no longer in the field

Two more golfers have decided to take a pass on this week's Safeway Open. Vaughn Taylor (ribs) and Ben Martin have both been removed from this week's field. Chad Campbell and Jonathan Byrd are now in this week's field. Both players will receive projections once they are added to DFS pricing pools.

Five minutes to PGA roster lock and no major news to report

With just under five minutes to roster lock, there is no major news to report this morning. Brooks Koepka and Vaughn Taylor both withdrew prior to the start of this event so please double check to make sure they are out of any lineups. ReusltsDB will be up and running a few minutes after lock. Good Luck this week Grinders !!!!

Vaughn Taylor is no longer in the field

Still battling a rib injury Vaughn Taylor will not compete in this week's Northern Trust. This is Taylor's fourth straight week to withdraw due to an injury. There will not be an alternate added to the field in replace of Taylor.

Lanto Griffin is no longer in the field

In what has already been a busy Monday of player movement, Lanto Griffin becomes the latest player to take a pass on this week's Wyndham Championship. Vaughan Talor and Abraham Ancer also withdrew earlier on Monday. Ben Martin, Peter Uihlein, and Josh Teater have all be added to the field and will get projections once they are added to the pricing pool. Taylor is the only player with a known injury ( ribs).

Vaughn Taylor is no longer in the field

For the second straight week, Vaughn Taylor has decided to withdraw from a tournament. A nagging rib injury will keep Taylor sidelined at least another week. Taylor has been replaced in the field by Alex Noren. At this late of a junction, we could see Noren added to the round 2 showdown slate, but should not expect to see him in any full week contests

Solid Value on DK/FD

If you are looking for a safer value play, give Taylor a long look. His price tag is a little higher on Yahoo, but he is still a reasonable play there. The FanDuel and DraftKings price tags are nice bargains. Taylor is a consistent cut maker with solid course history, as he has made the cut in each of the last four editions of this event. That includes a career-best fourth place finish at TPC River Highlands a year ago. He doesn’t grade out quite as well statistically as some of the other plays, as his approach numbers are lagging a bit this year. That said, 2020 is still a small sample size, and Taylor is a veteran with a lot of experience. That has value on this course, and you’re not paying any sort of premium to roster him. He’s a fine sixth golfer to round out your squad.

Three Straight Top 12 Finishes on Tour

Taylor could end up being one of the highest owned golfers of the slate, but all chalk isn't bad chalk. After a terrible round on Thursday at the Sony Open, he shot 11-under par on the final three days and finished in a tie for 12th. In his previous two events, he posted finishes of T10 and T2. He's clearly in great form and he's one of the best Bermuda putters in this field. He's also ranked sixth in birdie or better percentage, fourth in opportunities gained, and ninth in bogey avoidance. While he doesn't have a ton of course history for this event, he did post a T7 here a year ago. Like the other three core plays, it's hard to find a weakness in his game, especially at his price point.

Taylor Set to Continue Solid Run

Transitioning from good course history to good (relatively) recent form, Taylor capped off a pretty good 2019 with a 2nd at the Mayakoba and 10th at the RSM Classic. His EAP data is fantastic with over 1/3 of all approach shots inside of 18 ft. and gaining Strokes on Approach 54% of the time. He is certainly a Cash candidate this week with upside.

Vaughn Taylor stands out as a great source of value

After a brief week off The PGA Tour returns to action this week. In terms of finding value, gamers will have to adjust to strategies used during the stretch of events where we had the luxury of playing without a cut. With only the top 65 and ties making it through to the weekend, the focus on value plays will shift towards finding golfers that have the best chance of playing all four rounds. Playing in his seventh Mayakoba Golf Classic Vaughn Taylor is a golfer we can target in terms of value for the week. Taylor has a perfect cut record at this event including a T26 last season. Not the longest golfer on tour, Taylor relies on a game built around accuracy and timely putting. In his last three starts at this tournament, Taylor has been in a position to really crush his value heading into Sunday's final round. Taylor's round of 70 en route to his finish last season was an improvement on his two previous rounds of 74, but overall you would have to assume this tour veteran feels like there is an opportunity to really post a solid finish at a course that fits his game. With a discount in price, Taylor stands out as one of the better point per dollar plays in our projection model for the week.

Good Form, Good Stats, and Good Course History

Taylor is the opposite type of golfers as Scheffler, although they have one thing in common — they are both elite iron players that hit a lot of greens. Taylor isn’t the longest off the tee, but he hits fairways, is accurate with his irons, and makes a lot of birdies. The fact that he’s ranked in the top 15 in this field in birdie or better percentage and bogey avoidance bodes well for his chances this week. He’s no stranger to this event, as he’s finished in the top 30 in all four of his appearances. He’s been in solid form for quite some time, making 10 straight cuts on tour with five top 20 finishes during that stretch. He’s ranked second in my model this week and he’s obviously not the second most expensive golfer on any of the DFS sites.
