Victor Cruz will play Sunday
Cruz was removed from the injury report today, and he's all set to return for Sunday's game against the Bears. He has a nice matchup with De'Vante Bausby, who has a terrible 37.8 PFF grade, and allows 0.46 fantasy points per route defended, which is second among qualifying cornerbacks playing this week. However, Cruz has only had five receptions in two games this season (and has not exceed five receptions). He's only scored one touchdown this season, all the way back in Week 1, but he is leading the team in red zone targets with five. At best, he's a tournament option this weekend given his matchup, but there are plenty of stronger options available in his price range.
Victor Cruz returns to practice
Cruz missed the Giants last game but appears to be in line to play this week as he returned to practice today. Cruz hasn't been a viable DFS option all season long and that's not going to change this Sunday.
Victor Cruz will be inactive tonight for Giants
Cruz will miss the Monday Night Football game against the Bengals due to an ankle injury. Roger Lewis will step into the #3 WR role and will be in play as a value option, especially in the small two game slates. Dwayne Harris will also likely see the field a bit more but Lewis is the better option.
Victor Cruz questionable for Monday night
Cruz hasn't been able to practice all week, which means he's unlikely to play the Bengals on Monday, despite being listed as questionable. He won't be a strong fantasy option if he plays, he's averaged 5.25 targets per game this season, and he's only exceeded 70 yards once. If he can't go, his targets would be distributed to Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard. Beckham said he always tends to play better this time of year, and he backed that up with a two-touchdown game last week against the Eagles. He'll face off with Bengals' corner Adam Jones the most in Week 10. It's a nice matchup for him as Jones has earned a poor 48.6 PFF grade this season. OBJ is already an excellent fantasy option, and Cruz's absence would be a boost.
Victor Cruz not at practice for Giants
The Giants WR will most likely continue to get treatment today and tomorrow on his injured ankle and the team will make a decision on Saturday in advance of their Monday Night game against the Bengals.
Victor Cruz is considered day-to-day with low-ankle sprain
Cruz exited Sunday's game in the second quarter after injuring his ankle. Fortunately, his MRI came back with positive results, and he shouldn't miss too much time, if any at all. Cruz hasn't had much fantasy value this year; he hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 1, and hasn't gone over 70 yards since Week 2. Even though New York is going against a poor Bengals' pass defense this weekend, he won't be a great option if he plays.
Sterling Shepard or Victor Cruz?
There hasn't been a more discussed game this week than the Saints at Giants. DFS players rightfully remember the last time these two teams met in Week 8 of last season. That game saw 101 points scored and over 1,000 total yards. While Odell Beckham is the consensus number one WR, there is also merit to selecting the other Giants' WRs. Last year, Beckham put up 8/130/3 but there was still room for Dwayne Harris 3/37/2 and Rueben Randle 5/55/0. This year, the WRs behind Beckham are much different. Victor Cruz returned from an injury last week after 23 months off and rookie Sterling Shepard will fill the number three role. The question many are asking is which is the #2 WR? The answer isn't entirely clear. The Giants used a 3WR set as their base offense last week. That allowed Shepard to play 95% of offensive snaps and Cruz to play 89%. The short answer is that neither is necessarily a better option than the other. Eli Manning will be looking to the open receiver which should be all of them. As long as the Giants continue to run a 3WR base offense, both Cruz and Shepard are in play. In fact, so is the rest of the Giants offense.
Victor Cruz out for season
Not a shock but the veteran Giants WR is out for the season as he will have surgery on his injured calf. Reuben Randle will continue to operate as the #2 on the Giants but is too up and down to rely on consistently for DFS purposes.
