Vince Dunn Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Injury to Alex Pietrangelo creates opportunity for Blues' blue liner
Colton Parayko is perhaps the most talented of the healthy Blues' defensemen, and with Alex Pietrangelo on the shelf, Colton should be the one to benefit from power play time. Vince Dunn, an offensive-minded defenseman, has been seeing time on the top power play unit, and his ice time tops out at around 20 minutes, so there shouldn't be much change there. Parayko has flashed considerable upside from time to time, including a goal on five shots just two games ago in Colorado. Parayko's price across the industry is not prohibitive.
Blues' blue liner the lone bright spot in ugly home opener
Vince Dunn logged his first full campaign in the National Hockey League last season, collecting a modest 24 points (5 goals, 19 assists) in 75 games, so he does not scream “play me”. Yet, the offensive-minded defensemen could take advantage of Chicago’s weak bottom-six as Dunn is more often than not used against weaker competition. In fact, in 2017-18, Dunn started in the offensive zone 60.8% of the time. The Blues were picked apart by the Jets the other night, but Dunn was able to pot a goal. At a rock-bottom $3,900 on DraftKings and $3,800 on FanDuel, Vince Dunn makes for an intriguing tournament shot from the blue line.
Rookie blue liner for Blues has five points in three meetings against Blackhawks
The numbers of Vince Dunn won't stand out as he has just 24 points in 73 games played, but it has been a tail of two halves for the youngster as he has amassed 13 points in 29 games after the All-Star break. Dunn has been particularly lethal against the Chicago Blackhawks, logging over 17 minutes of ice time over three games while potting a goal and dishing out four apples. At near-punt pricing across the industry, Dunn makes for a fantastic option in tournaments to allow salary freedom to load up on several superstars. The Blackhawks have struggled mightily defensively all season long, and with the Blues fighting for their playoff life, St. Louis and Dunn should give their best effort yet tonight.
Value on the Blue Line
The New York Rangers are a defensive disaster right now (ranking 31st overall in the National Hockey League in CA/60, 25th in HDCA/60 and 27th in SCA/60 this month), and the St. Louis Blues should dominate this hockey game in a big way tonight at the Scottrade Center. Value defenseman Vince Dunn is averaging over 17 minutes of ice time per game since the All-Star break, and he continues to see time on the Blues second power play unit, making him an excellent punt play in any format this evening.
Pick On This Team's Bad Peripheral Stats
If you're looking to pick on a struggling team on the road tonight, consider taking the top line of the Blues, which features Vladimir Tarasenko, Paul Stastny, and Alex Steen. Despite their recent struggles, Tarasenko has quietly put together another fantastic offensive season for the Blues. A matchup against a stingy Sharks team may seem risky, but San Jose has played well over their heads since the start of the the new year; entering tonight's game allowing the second most shot attempts and own the fourth worst adjusted xGA/60 since January 1st. With home ice advantage on their side, look for head coach Mike Yeo to get his most talented sniper in prime offensive zone faceoffs and matched up against one of the weaker lines of San Jose throughout tonight's contest.
Loaded Top Line With Sneaky Good Matchup
If you're looking to pick on a struggling team on the road tonight, consider taking the top line of the Blues, which features Brayden Schenn, Vladimir Tarasenko, and Jaden Schwartz. With 26 points in 28 home games this season, Tarasenko has quietly put together another fantastic offensive season for the Blues. A matchup against a stingy Minnesota team may seem risky, but the Wild are not the same defensive team on the road; entering tonight's game allowing the fourth most scoring chances and shot attempts per game on tonight's slate. Also featured on the top power play for St. Louis, Schenn, Schwartz, and Tarasenko should be very busy on the man advantage tonight against a Minnesota penalty kill that has allowed six power play goals over their past four games.
