No points in five games for surprise roster addition

In what amounts to an interesting game in the desert tonight between the Arizona Coyotes and Carolina Hurricanes, the team's second line is perhaps the most interesting. Antti Raanta is not a goalie to target against, but the options are limited tonight. Warren Foegle and his linemates Jordan Staal and Justin Williams have been phenomenal at driving play as all three boast a Corsi For percentage north of 65% at 5v5. And while the line has cooled off after a sizzling start to the season, Foegle and company are a nice option in a game where a majority of the goals will come at even-strength given the discipline of both teams.

This line has been the best possession line in the NHL this season.

Jordan Staal, Justin Williams and Warren Foegele have been the best possession line in the NHL with an incredible 67.87 CF%. Due to their dominance, it makes sense that the Carolina Hurricanes as a whole have been the best possession team with a 60.67 CF%. Tonight they visit another great possession team in the Arizona Coyotes, a team that has struggled to score this season. Although both of these teams are fantastic possession-wise, there is some home that we're going to get plenty of scoring chances in both directions. Carolina may get more scoring chances, but they'll be taking on a much better goaltender in Antti Raanta who is sporting a 1.99 GAA and a .926 SV%.

This line has been one of the most dominant even strength lines in the NHL this season.

You may be surprised to know that Jordan Staal, Warren Foegele and Justin Williams have been one of the best lines in the NHL this season with an astounding 67.93 CF% which is second-best. Additionally, they have a 65.36 xGF% which ranks sixth. Unfortunately, even strength is where they thrive and there only chance to play together as Staal is on the top power play unit, Williams is on the second unit and Foegele doesn't get much — if any — power play time. This is a GPP play because of the lack of power play correlation and even strength inconsistencies they present, despite the elite numbers 5v5.
