Wayne Selden Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Wayne Selden (knee) will start Saturday; Kris Dunn (back) remains out

Selden has officially been upgraded from probable and will start in Saturday's matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers despite dealing with a sore left knee, while Dunn has been ruled out, as expected, and he'll join Otto Porter and Zach Lavine on the Bulls' inactive list with a mid-back strain. Head coach Jim Boylen has opted to make yet another change to his starting lineup for tonight's contest, and Rawle Alkins will start ahead of Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, who was mediocre from a fantasy perspective in 26 minutes of action in Wednesday's win. As for Alkins, his playing time has been all over the map of late, but he has logged at least 16 minutes in three of the previous four games, which could elevate him to a viable punt option if he manages to see minutes in the mid or upper-20s this evening.

Wayne Selden (knee) will play Wednesday

Selden has officially been upgraded from probable and will play in Wednesday's matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans despite dealing with a sore left knee, while Kris Dunn was previously cleared to play after also missing Monday's practice with a pelvic contusion. There's been no reported minute restriction for either Selden or Dunn, so they'll presumably see close to their normal minute allotments as part of the starting lineup for tonight's contest. Head coach Jim Boylen did disclose that he'll likely give some playing time to the newly acquired Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot off the bench, but he gave no indication who may be in danger of losing their role in the wing rotation. Selden has played at least 35 minutes in three of the last four games, but his minuscule 15.0% usage rate and his average of 0.59 DraftKings and 0.57 FanDuel points per minute as a member of the Bulls makes him a difficult player to trust in any fantasy format.

Zach LaVine (ankle) and Wayne Selden (knee) will play Saturday

LaVine has officially been upgraded from probable and will play in Saturday’s matchup against the Charlotte Hornets after missing one game due to a sprained right ankle, while Wayne Selden has also been cleared to play despite dealing with a sore right knee. The return of LaVine to the starting lineup will likely send Ryan Arcidiacano back to the bench following a solid fantasy outing in 34 minutes of action in Wednesday’s win. Meanwhile, Jabari Parker is away from the team tending to a personal matter, so Bobby Portis should theoretically see an uptick in playing time at power forward with Wendell Carter Jr. also still sidelined. Additionally, with Parker and Carter Jr. off the court, LaVine owns a 35.7% usage rate (+3.3%) and is averaging 1.23 DraftKings and 1.20 FanDuel points per minute, making him an intriguing tournament target if he isn't limited.

Make Sure He's Starting Again

I never feel good about writing up anyone from the Bulls, but if Wayne Selden draws another start for Chandler Hutchison, then he's worth mentioning on this slate. Selden played a season-high 37 minutes against Cleveland on Sunday, and he filled the stat sheet for 30+ fantasy points. The Bulls refuse to play Parker, which makes me feel a little better about playing Selden if he's in the starting lineup.

Marc Gasol (knee) and Wayne Selden (knee) available to play Sunday

Gasol has officially been upgraded from questionable and will be available to play Sunday’s matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers despite dealing with a sore right knee, while Selden has also been cleared and is available to play off the bench. Gasol did log 42 minutes in the Grizzlies double-overtime victory on Friday night, but he’ll be needed to guard Joel Embiid on the defensive end of the floor, so he’s unlikely to have his playing time limited by the coaching staff unless he reaggravates the injury during the game. As for Selden, he's averaged just 14.2 minutes over the Grizzlies last six games, so he appears poised to resume that nominal role in the wing rotation with Memphis at full strength outside of Chandler Parsons and Dillon Brooks and remains out of consideration for daily fantasy formats.

JaMychal Green (illness) and Chandler Parsons (illness) will play Saturday; Wayne Selden (knee) ruled out

Green has officially been cleared to play and will suit up for Saturday's game against the Orlando Magic after previously being listed as questionable on the Memphis Grizzlies' injury report with an illness that had forced him to miss one game, while Chandler Parsons is available to play following his most recent five-game absence due to an illness. Additionally, Wayne Selden has been ruled out and will join the other notable Grizzlies inactives, including Tyreke Evans, Andrew Harrison, Marc Gasol, and Deyonta Davis, for tonight's contest. Given the current lack of depth, both Green and Jarell Martin should be locked into a significant playing time as the starting frontcourt duo and Martin has logged less than 32 minutes just once in the last four games. Selden was limited to just 10 minutes in his return from an extended injury absence on Friday, and his restriction allowed Mario Chalmers, Ben McLemore, and Myke Henry all to step into more extensive roles in the backcourt and wing rotations that should be able to maintain in his absence this evening.

Andrew Harrison (wrist), Tyreke Evans (rib), and Deyonta Davis (ankle) ruled out Saturday; JaMychal Green (illness) and Wayne Selden (knee) questionable; Chandler Parsons (illness) probable

Harrison, Evans, and Davis have all been added to the Memphis Grizzlies' injury and won't play in Saturday's game against the Orlando Magic due to their respective ailments, though Davis was the only one to suit up for the first game of the back-to-back set on Friday evening. Meanwhile, JaMychal Green and Wayne Selden are listed as questionable, and Chandler Parsons is still dealing with an illness but has been upgraded to probable on the injury report. Unfortunately, the optimal way to attack this injury situation in daily fantasy formats is still up in the air, as it largely depends on the status of Green and Selden, but either way, Jarell Martin should be locked into a significant playing time as a starter and has logged less than 32 minutes just once in the last four games. Selden was limited to just 10 minutes in his return from an extended injury absence on Friday, and his restriction allowed Mario Chalmers, Ben McLemore, and Myke Henry all to step into more extensive roles in the backcourt and wing rotations.

JaMychal Green (illness) and Andrew Harrison (wrist) ruled out Friday; Wayne Selden (knee) available to play

Green was absent from shootaround Friday morning and has officially been ruled out tonight's game against the Denver Nuggets due to an illness, while Andrew Harrison will also be unavailable due to a right wrist injury following his original questionable designation on the injury report. However, as expected, Wayne Selden has been cleared to play after missing six consecutive games with a sore right knee but will only play limited minutes in his return. The Grizzlies are already without Tyreke Evans, Deyonta Davis, and Chandler Parsons due to their respective ailments, so they'll be relatively shorthanded across the board from a positional depth perspective. Despite being replaced by Ben McLemore in the starting lineup last time out, Jarell Martin logged a whopping 36 minutes off the bench compared to just nine for McLemore, and he'll be locked into a starting role no matter who starts for Harrison and Evans this evening. That said, the likeliest candidates appear to be Mario Chalmers and Ben McLemore, the latter's playing time depending largely on how many minutes Selden is able to handle in his first game back.

JaMychal Green (illness) a game-time decision Friday; Wayne Selden (knee) expected to play

Green was absent from shootaround Friday morning and is likely to be a game-time decision for tonight's game against the Denver Nuggets due to an illness. Meanwhile, Wayne Selden has been upgraded to probable on the Memphis Grizzlies' injury report with a sore right knee and, according to interim head coach JB Bickerstaff, is expected to play. There's yet to be an update on Andrew Harrison, who remains questionable with a right wrist issue, but the Grizzlies will already be without Tyreke Evans, Deyonta Davis, and Chandler Parsons due to their respective ailments. Despite being replaced by Ben McLemore in the starting lineup last time out, Jarell Martin logged a whopping 36 minutes off compared to just nine for McLemore, and it remains unclear whether reclaim that starting role with Selden also being a candidate to start, health permitting. The way to attack the Grizzlies in daily fantasy formats will depend largely on the availability of Green and Harrison, but if they're cleared to play, Harrison would remain a viable option, as both he and Dillon Brooks own at least +4.3% usage rate differential with Evans, Davis, Parsons, and Mike Conley off the court this season.

Tyreke Evans (rib) ruled out Saturday; Wayne Selden (knee) and Chandler Parsons (illness) remain out

Evans is a new addition to the Memphis Grizzlies' injury report and has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Miami Heat due to a right rib injury he sustained during the second half of Friday's loss, while both Wayne Selden and Chandler Parsons will remain sidelined with a sore right knee and an illness, respectively. In the absences of Evans and Selden, the Grizzlies will need to rely on Mario Chalmers and Ben McLemore as the primary guards off the bench, assuming that Dillon Brooks slides over to the shooting guard spot in the starting lineup and Jarell Martin draws the start alongside JaMychal Green at one of the forward positions, just as he did the last time Evans and Selden were sidelined in the same game prior to the All-Star break. With the aforementioned players off the court this season, Brooks, Marc Gasol, and Andrew Harrison all own at least a +4.5% usage rate differential, while Harrison leads the way with a +0.22 increase in his per minute production and is averaging 1.02 fantasy points per minute on DraftKings and 1.01 on FanDuel in this scenario as well.
