Kevin Roth's official weather report for The John Deere Classic
RotoGrinders own chief meteorologist Kevin Roth released his weather forecast for this week's John Deere Classic, and pre tournament rain could impact play. It appears that the already wet TPC Deere Run will receive more rain prior to Thursday's opening round. Roth predicts that isolated showers could carry into Thursday's opening round, but as the day progresses the chance of rain decreases. The weather forecast for the remaining three days will feature light winds and no rain. While it does appear that weather will give an predictable advantage to either tee time draw, the wet conditions should lead to even more birdies than normal at TPC Deere Run. Targeting birdie makers is always a great strategy for The John Deere Classic, and the wet conditions could provide an opportunity for players who struggle with accuracy off the tee to hit a few more fairways and potentially make a few more birdies.
FanDuel and DraftKings release Puerto Rico Open contests
Wesley Bryan has some of the best initial odds to win the tourney (18/1) according to Vegas but just the 4th highest salary on FanDuel at only $8,900. DraftKings has placed W. Bryan atop its salary list at $10,800. The solo 69 finish last week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational was disappointing, but W. Bryan will be one of the highest owned golfers this week considering his strong recent form and the very weak field in Puerto Rico. Graham DeLaet and Graeme McDowell are placed with top-3 salaries on both sites. Initial top values on FanDuel include Peter Uihlein at $7,200 and JT Poston at $6,500. Strong DraftKings value plays include Danny Lee at $8,700 and Brandon Hagy at $8,300.
Wesley Bryan in excellent form heading into the Valspar Championship
DFS players are starting to take Wesley Bryan seriously. Over the last 12 months, he’s progressed from trick-shooting YouTube star to disappointing GPP dart, to now being a recent form standout demonstrating strong tourney-winning upside. After two consecutive Top-10 finishes at the Honda Classic and Genesis Open, W. Bryan’s DraftKings salary has risen to $7,500 for the Valspar Championship. But the higher salary won’t dissuade from his Valspar popularity, as his GPP ownership could approach 20% this week. Exceptional recent form remains one of the strongest arguments for rostering golfers, and few others in the Valspar field have better recent form than Wesley Bryan.
