William Nylander Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
This center has entered beast mode over the last two weeks
Since being reunited with William Nylander 7 games ago, Auston Matthews has been dominant. He has put up 5 goals and 9 points while firing an incredible 38 shots (5.43 per game). The two are playing with Andreas Johnsson and they have been a line that looks dominant each and every time they are on the ice even if they aren't getting on the scoresheet. The unfortunate aspect of this line stack is that Matthews is on the top PP unit while the other two are on PP2, so the power play correlation is minimal. However, they are so good at even strength that they are still a top stack tonight.
Winger still to cheap given his talent
Toronto has struggled this month, including Saturday night's poor effort against the New York Rangers, when they scored just a goal. Nylander took four shots on goal but did not find the scoresheet; however, a matchup with the Panthers who just gave up seven goals on home ice to Boston provides an opportunity for the Leafs to bounce back. Nylander checks in at just $3,900 on DraftKings and should see advantageous matchups alongside Auston Matthews. They make for a nice one-two punch in tournaments.
Consecutive multi-point games for cheap Toronto winger
William Nylander has not had his price adjusted much yet as he checks in at a very attractive $3,900 on DraftKings tonight against Ottawa. Though the Senators have shown some improvement and this is a road game, the crowd will be Toronto-heavy, so it's more like a home game. Nylander has consecutive multi-point games, and his hard work was influential last night as he and Matthews were buzzing throughout the game. With Ottawa's top line (namely Pageau & Tkachuk) likely spending most of their ice time against Tavares and Marner, the door is open for another big night from Toronto's second line.
After a contract dispute and a slow start, this winger is starting to turn things around
William Nylander may not be picking up that many points as of late, but it's obvious when you watch him that he's playing much better than he was two months ago. Reuniting with Auston Matthews has been great for both as the line with Andreas Johnsson has controlled the play incredibly. Tonight the Toronto Maple Leafs are hosting the Philadelphia Flyers — a team that is on the tail-end of a back to back. Over the last month, the Flyers have allowed 62.23 CA/60 which is the third-most and on the flip side, the Leafs have put up 66.09 CF/60 over the same time frame. This is a lopsided matchup for this line and the Leafs and should be in strong consideration for a line stack.
This struggling winger has been bumped up the lineup
This line was put back together last game with Kasperi Kapanen out, and it with coming out that Kapanen has a concussion, this line is likely to stay together for the near future. It is pretty cheap considering it can be a very effective line. Auston Matthews is centering Andreas Johnsson and William Nylander on the Toronto Maple Leafs second line and a home matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks is certainly a good one. Now, the power play correlation is a bit odd as Matthews is the only one of these three on the top unit. However, Johnsson and Nylander play on the second unit together so getting that correlation is still solid.
Kasperi Kapanen is out indefinitely with a concussion
William Nylander was alongside Auston Matthews last time out, and although he was skunked in 16 minutes of ice time, that came against the best team in the National Hockey League. At home against a generous Blackhawks' defense, this could be William Nylander's time to shine. Nylander is priced more appropriately on FanDuel ($4,700), but he is still worthy of a roster spot there. On DraftKings is where Nylander ($3,500) really stands out. He is a core play in all formats.
Low-owned Leaf could be a difference maker in tournaments
Even on this small slate, someone like Nylander could fly under the radar as his linemates Patrick Marleau and Connor Brown are nothing to get excited about. Nylander is just $3,300 on DraftKings despite owning the third-best iSCF/60 at 5-on-5 on the team behind Auston Matthews and Mitchell Marner. With Calgary's top-six and Toronto's top-six likely going toe-to-toe for most of this hockey game, Nylander could get some advantageous matchups against Calgary's bottom-six. Additionally, Nylander sees power play time which further gives him value. The price is simply too cheap for Nylander's skill set.
This centre is looking to turn around his goal-scoring slump.
Auston Matthews is in a bit of a goal-scoring slump at the moment with just 1 goal in his last 10 games. However, he has still been able to pick up the points as he’s had nine points in those games. If you’re still averaging 0.9 points per game during a cold streak, you’re a special player. It looks like he’s going to be reunited with William Nylander again tonight as the struggling Toronto Maple Leafs — winners in just two of their last seven games — take on the NHL-best Tampa Bay Lightning. Since the break, Toronto has actually been playing well from a possession standpoint but have just been unable to score. Their 64.76 CF/60 ranks third and 52.4 CF% is seventh in the 8 games since Christmas. On the other side, Tampa Bay has just a 48.53 CF% which sits 22nd in the NHL in the same period.
Target this cheap Toronto Maple Leaf in tournaments
The results have not been there for William Nylander, but the peripherals are as strong as ever. Nylander sports a team-best 35.61 scoring chances per 60 minutes at 5-on-5, much of which has come away from Auston Matthews. With Mike Babcock reuniting Matthews, Nylander and Hyman, a line that had a bunch of success last season, this could be a blow-up spot, even against the best team in the National Hockey League. In four meetings with the Lightning last season, Nylander potted a pair of goals and an assist. Take a chance on the low-owned Nylander tonight.
Multi-goal game in the works for this line very soon
The Toronto Maple Leafs will host the Vancouver Canucks tonight, who will be without their talented rookie Elias Pettersson. While the Toronto’s top line is in play, I will be getting plenty of exposure to Toronto’s second line of Auston Matthews, William Nylander, and Andreas Johnsson. Nylander finally got the monkey off his back and scored his first goal last game out. Nylander’s has posted an impressive 74.23 CF/60 and 15.09 HDCF at even strength in his 12 games played this year. Keep in mind many of those games he was skating on the third and fourth line without Auston Matthews. This line has the potential to post a multi goal game at reasonable ownership. I prefer to use defenseman Jake Gardiner as an addition to this stack, as he correlates the most at even strength and on the second power-play unit with this line.
