The first-ever DraftKings Sports Betting National Championship takes place Friday, January 11, 2019, through Sunday, January 13. The contest boasts a $2.5 million guaranteed prize pool and a first-place prize that will be no less than $1 million.

To enter the event, participants must have either qualified through DraftKings, or ponied-up $10K to buy-in directly. Half of the $10K goes toward a leaderboard prize pool, while the other half is used by each contestant as a betting bankroll. First reports indicate that the field is split about 50-50 between qualifiers and direct entries.

Sports Betting National Championship participants must meet two requirements by the end of the competition in order to remain eligible for the leaderboard prizes. The first requirement is that each bettor must wager at least $1000 by the end of the day Saturday. And then on Sunday, with action limited to just the two NFL Divisional Playoff games, players must put a further $2000 into play.
