The FanDuel World Fantasy Baseball Championship is almost here!

On August 20, 2016, the finalists will be in Nashville, TN, competing for their share of the $1.5 million prize pool, with the champion winning $250,000! Where will RotoGrinders contributors JeffElJefe and JMToWin end up finishing in this star-studded field? You decide! RotoGrinders is offering a special contest for those of you reading this article and it only takes a couple of seconds to enter (more on that later).

Below you’ll find a quick preview video of the event:

If you want to win the contest, it couldn’t hurt to see a list of the odds for each finalist, could it? Luckily for us, RG member theoddsmaker was happy to help out. For what it’s worth, he also set the over/under of the winning score total at 236.5 points.

Here are theoddsmaker’s odds for each finalist to win the 2016 WFBC:

Let’s take a closer look at some of the finalists in attendance:

JMToWin

The RG Premium Content Director will be competing in his first FD live final. He has one entry, which is how he probably prefers it, since making one tournament team on a slate is his thing. JM is sure to be very prepared for this slate, as he has taken a hiatus from his articles and DFS in order to fine-tune his focus for the WFBC. I’m looking forward to reading his thoughts next week, when he hopefully gives us a synopsis of how the tug-of-war between first impressions and second-guessing ultimately turned out.

saahilsud

saahilsud needs no introduction – he’s simply the #1 player in DFS. Saahil currently tops the overall, TPOY, and MLB leaderboards here on RotoGrinders. The reason he only has three seats for this event is because FanDuel wouldn’t let anyone have four. It’s no surprise that he has the best odds to win the WFBC, at 16/1. Saahil is seeking his first live final victory and is one of six competitors who have the maximum number of entries.

JeffElJefe

If there’s a FanDuel live final, JeffElJefe will win himself a seat (or three) at the table. Since he started taking aim at the live finals in 2015, JeffElJefe hasn’t missed a single one, accumulating 16 total entries in FanDuel Championship events! Hoping to improve on his 8th place showing from a year ago, this RG Superheavyweight has 42/1 odds of taking home his first championship belt.

ehafner

ehafner is another very well-respected player in the DFS community. ehafner is the reigning Tournament Player of the Year (TPOY) and is making a strong push for back-to-back titles, currently sitting in second place in the 2016 standings. Ranked #2 in MLB and overall, this long-time grinder now has 17 qualifier seats in FanDuel events, which goes nicely with his 17/1 odds to win the biggest check.

ganondorf

The self-proclaimed, “Buffalo Bills of DFS,” ganondorf has come very close to topping the leaderboard at a live final on numerous occasions, but has never quite finished first at a live event like this. With two seats in the WFBC, and the best odds of anyone in that grouping (at 28/1), this could be the time ganondorf adds the golden baseball to his trophy case. If you need some help coping with a bad beat, you should check out this article ganondorf wrote on the subject.

McJester

The 2014 RotoGrinders TPOY, McJester plays GPPs almost exclusively, and has a track record of showing up big on the biggest stages. From the time he took home 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at the 2014 StarStreet MLB Playboy Mansion Championship to his victory at the 2016 FanDuel NBA Playboy Mansion Championship, the hits just keep coming for McJester! This is McJester’s 15th seat in a FanDuel live final.

There are many other finalists that I haven’t mentioned, of course, but they’ve all earned their place, and as any DFS MLB player knows, anything can happen in baseball, so it’s anyone’s game. The full prize table is as follows:

The conclusion of the Single Entry Series presented by RotoGrinders will be going on in Nashville, too. The winner of the Single Entry Series will take home $10,000. The total prize pool in this event is $25,000. It’s difficult to handicap such a small field, but theoddsmaker did it anyway!

doctor_doom has three entries in the main event plus a spot in the Single Entry Series. Given the much larger field in the main event, it will be interesting to see if he duplicates one of his entries for this contest, or goes with a fourth different lineup on the slate.

Speaking of the slate, there are only a couple of early games on the 20th, so the remaining 26 MLB teams will be included on this Championship slate. The contest begins at 7:05 EST. I will provide more details about the slate once the contest goes live. RotoGrinders will be providing live updates of the event on social media and I will be posting updates on the website and hopefully taking a closer look at some of the lineups, so be sure to check back for that once the slate is live!

fanduel

Now for that contest I teased you about before abruptly changing subjects.

The rules are simple. Post who you predict will finish 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the comments section. Please include the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd labels with your entry because you will get a bonus point for each person you match exactly. One entry per person, contest closes as soon as the slate locks. Remember that some people have multiple seats, so it’s okay to use someone more than once. As a tiebreaker, predict the winning FanDuel score. The maximum number of points you can get is six: one for each correct guess that finishes in the top three and a bonus point for each person you get in the exact finishing position.

The winner of the contest will receive a free RotoGrinders T-shirt. Of course, the odds listed here are for entertainment purposes only, but if you wish to comment about whose odds are too high or too low, or how you think this slate will play out, please do so!

Congratulations and best of luck to all of the finalists!
