2017 FanDuel World Fantasy Football Championship Recap

Huge congratulations to dailymail, who moved to the top of the standings on the strength of a Los Angeles Rams DST touchdown. He managed to hold on over nolesman, who not only took 2nd but finished 3rd as well to win a combined amount ($500,000) equal to the first place prize money that dailymail took home. DFS legend Condia would finish in 4th while top DFS TPOY ranked player bigpapagates would finish in 6th place.

Here’s a look at the final top 10!

1. dailymail 153.86 $500,000
2. nolesman 149.76 $300,000
3. nolesman 142.06 $200,000
4. condia 141.60 $150,000
5. treed79 140.92 $100,000
6. bigpapagates 140.50 $70,000
7. dixonyu 137.64 $50,000
8. zbarnett 132.36 $50,000
9. coachs111 132.26 $40,000
10. clayton24 130.06 $40,000

For those that don’t know, dailymail is the FanDuel screen name for RotoGrinders member sochoice, a frequent forum contributor who is ranked in the top 1,000 of the RG Rankings. Congrats sochoice!

The winning lineup included two chalk players from the early games in Giovani Bernard (16 fpts at 52% ownership) and DeAndre Hopkins (30.4 fpts at 42.7% ownership) but it was low-owned plays Garrett Celek (13.7 fpts at 1.3% ownership) and Robbie Gould (17 fpts at 5.3% ownership) that would be huge difference makers for dailymail’s winning score. Nearly 50 points from Philip Rivers and Todd Gurley in the afternoon games along with nice contributions from Keenan Allen and the Rams DST would be just enough to give him the title. Here’s the winning lineup:

7:10 pm ET

Two games left with the Seahawks-Jaguars and Rams-Eagles (what a shootout) both playing in the 4th quarter. Dailymail has a 8 point lead and looks as if he will be the winner – Nolesman dropped to third place but it’s not all bad news as his second lineup is now in 2nd place. We’ll be back if anything changes and with the final standings and winning lineup when it’s all over.

6:35 pm ET

It probably wasn’t how he expected to move into the lead but a blocked punt returned for a TD by the Rams DST has moved dailymail into the lead. He is up by seven over the closest team to him with PMR.

5:50 pm ET

Nolesman continues to lead but there are two players with plenty of PMR in the top 10 with dailymail perhaps the best threat to challenge for the top spot as he has Philip Rivers, Keenan Allen, Todd Gurley, Larry Fitzgerald, and the Rams DST (oops) left. Here’s a look at his lineup – he’s currently 18 points behind Nolesman.

4:31 pm ET

The walk-off TD from LeSean McCoy was good for Nolesman as that gave him some more points to try and fend off the late game surge. He currently leads by 2 points over bigpapagates (no PMR left) and 16 over bquicksix (Greg the Leg and Chargers DST left).

———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

4:08 pm ET

Nolesman still has the lead as the afternoon games kick off but it’s a precarious one as he has no PMR left and there are plenty behind him that are within striking distance with players taking the field. One of those lurking is DFS legend Condia who sits in 5th place with a kicker and the Broncos defense remaining. Here’s a look at the current top 10 (click image to expand):

———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

3:30 pm ET

Nolesman has a bit of a cushion right now as he is 15 points ahead of 2nd place doctor_doom. Those two are the only two currently over 100 fpts and nolesman will need to build a bigger cushion as he will have no PMR left after the early games end.

———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

3:00 pm ET

DeAndre Hopkins has 31.4 fpts. The 57.3% of the field that didn’t play him have an uphill battle facing them. Nolesman continues to lead – here’s a look at his leading lineup.

2:30 pm ET

A DeAndre Hopkins TD has moved nolesman into the lead. Hopkins was a popular play at 42.7% ownership and with 18.6 fpts already in the first half it’s easy to see why people clicked on his name.

2:25 pm ET

The games are hitting halftime and oneida88 continues to lead the way. Here’s a look at his lineup:

We’re an hour in and here’s a look at the current top 10 with oneida88 on the strength of Josh Gordon and Kareem Hunt TDs currently holding the lead. (click picture to see full view)

1:44 pm ET

Travis Kelce looked like he was in for a TD and all those that stacked Alex Smith with him were jumping for joy. It was reversed, however, and a 9.3% owned Kareem Hunt was the beneficiary as he scored from the one yard line. That TD moved oneida88 into the lead. There’s still a long way to go though.

———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

1:23 pm ET

Josh Gordon is 29% owned. Those 29% are happy as he has just scored a TD. It is a bigpapagates Case Keenum-Kyle Rudolph TD though that has him in first (with no Gordon) right now.

———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Jamaal Williams and Jonathan Stewart both scored on long TDs. No one appears to own them though so there is no impact.

We’ll be back after lock with an initial look at who is in the FanDuel WFFC, a link to the final, and some analysis. Stay tuned!
