Pitcher Grind Down
- Shelby Miller – Miller hasn’t been great on the road this season, but he has been good against the Brewers. He has faced them in 4 starts and he has a 1.08 ERA with a K rate of 9 per 9 innings against them. The Brewers have been scoring some runs lately though and it’s not a great matchup. But sometimes pitchers just have a team’s number. Rating = 6
- Johnny Hellweg – Hellweg has an ERA over 8 on the season. He is not a viable fantasy option at this time, especially against the Cardinals. Rating = 1
Batter Grind Down
STL – The Cardinals have a favorable matchup against Hellweg who is giving up a .435 batting average to left hand hitters. Jon Jay, Matt Carpenter, and Carlos Beltran all look like great plays. I wouldn’t count out Holliday or Molina either though.
MIL – Norichika Aoki is 5/12 and Aramis Ramirez is 4/8 against Miller, but the rest of the team has really struggled against him. I’m not crazy about the Brewers tonight.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Randall Delgado – These games in Coors are never fun for the pitchers. Even top aces come into Coors and struggle. I think it’s safe to pass on Delgado tonight. Rating = 2
- Jhoulys Chacin – Chacin actually has a decent ERA in Coors (3.81), but I’m not taking him against this D-Backs lineup. Paul Goldschmidt has been red hot and Aaron Hill has good power. Rating = 3
Batter Grind Down
ARI – Lot of plays on the D-Backs today and it starts with Paul Goldschmidt. He is just crushing the ball right now. I think Aaron Hill, Martin Prado, Adam Eaton, and Miguel Montero are all solid options as well.
COL – Delgado has already given up 21 HR’s this season in only 17 starts. I will be targeting the players with some power from the Rockies. That would be Troy Tulowitzki, Michael Cuddyer, and maybe even Todd Helton.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Erasmo Ramirez – While I haven’t been recommending Ramirez, I really thought he was going to have a big second half to the season. So far, that has not been the case. He has an ERA close to 5 and he rarely is able to last 7 innings. He’s more risk than anything tonight against the Angels. Rating = 4
- Matt Shoemaker – Shoemaker is a 26 year old minor league pitcher that is making a spot start tonight. He has a 4.64 ERA in the minors which isn’t promising for his major league debut. The Mariners bats are a nice under the radar play tonight. Rating = 2
Batter Grind Down
SEA – Shoemaker is a right hand pitcher which is good news for the M’s. Target the left hand bats of Kendrys Morales, Michael Saunders, and Raul Ibanez.
LAA – The Angels also have a very favorable matchup. Erasmo has given up a higher average to left hand bats so maybe Josh Hamilton is in play, but Mike Trout is the real threat here. He’s been on fire and should be taken if you can afford him.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Andrew Albers – Albers has struggled on the road this season and has given up at least 4 earned runs in 3 of his last 5 starts. I think he will really struggle with this A’s lineup that can hit lefties well. Rating = 2
- Bartolo Colon – Colon is a bit too inconsistent for him to be in any of my 50/50 teams, but he is certainly in play in GPP’s. He has a nice matchup against the Twins and has pitched well at home with a 2.74 ERA. Rating = 6
Batter Grind Down
MIN – The Twins have been scoring runs, but when you look at their lineup each day, no one jumps out to you as a good play. Colon has pitched well at home and I don’t think many Twins bats will be rostered tonight.
OAK – The A’s are in a great spot once again today. Yesterday we recommended taking a few A’s and today we will do the same. Josh Donaldson, Jed Lowrie, and Coco Crisp all hit lefties well.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Edinson Volquez – Volquez gets to face his former team tonight in Petco. I’m always intrigued when players face their former teams. I always seem to think they will crush their old team, but it usually ends up working against them. Volquez is in play because he is in Petco, but if you only can select one pitcher tonight, it shouldn’t be Volquez. Rating = 5
- Robbie Erlin – Erlin has a 2.95 ERA at home this season, but does have a tough matchup against the Dodgers. He could be a sneaky GPP play if the Dodgers decide to rest some guys after winning their division last night. Rating = 3
Batter Grind Down
LAD – The Dodgers won the division and took a bath in the D-Backs hot tubs. I have a feeling that’s not going to sit well with a lot of people. There are a ton of options tonight and Petco isn’t my favorite park to take hitters in.
SD – The Padres have been struggling to score runs lately. I would recommend taking Will Venable though, Volquez is giving up a .294 batting average to lefties.
