MLB Daily Grind Down June 8th Day Games Part 2

The RotoGrinders MLB Grind Down article will give you an in-depth analysis into the MLB schedule. This article will break down the numbers for every single game and give you analysis on which trends you can exploit.
While matchups are a major factor in daily fantasy baseball, there are plenty of other factors to consider such as injuries, weather, and salaries. The analysis should point you in the right direction, but it is still up to you to decipher the information and make your own selections. No sport has more variance than baseball. The best choice is not always the right choice but following the trends will win you money over time. (any fp listed uses Fanduel’s scoring system)

Pitchers
- Home John Danks has looked horrible against 3 of the worst teams in baseball in his first 3 starts. His last start, however, showed signs of progress. He recorded 12 ground ball outs in 6 IP and he threw over 100 pitches. I do not think he is as done as people think he is and if he is super cheap on a multiple pitcher site then I might be willing to use him as a high risk/reward GPP play today. OAK is batting .261 on the road, .261 versus left-handers, and .279 over the last 7 days. Avoid
- Away Tommy Milone is the road favorite today versus a slumping CHW team but this has all the makings of a trap for me. His 5.06 road ERA is not good and he is an even worse 6.27 pitcher in day games. CHW is batting .222 at home, .240 versus left-handers, and .216 over the last 7 days. They rank 28th in the league in runs scored and have recorded the11th most Ks. Avoid
Batters
- Home Dayan Viciedo, Alex Rios, and Alexi Ramirez all have batting averages over .300 versus left-handers. Something tells me the CHW puts in a few runs today so I would look at all their bats.
- Away Yoenis Cespedes is on a tear with 35.25 fp over the last week. He is also batting .304 versus left-handed pitching. Josh Donaldson is batting .370 versus left-handers and has 22.5 fp over the last 7 days. Jed Lowrie and Nate Freiman both hit lefties well also.

- Favored DET -138
Pitchers
- Home Rick Porcello is receiving the most love I have ever seen bestowed upon a 5.21 pitcher in my life. Okay, his 1.26 WHIP is above average and he has shown flashes of brilliance but his only truly great game this year came against a PIT team at home. I am not buying it and do not trust him today against this dangerous CLE offense. If you want to buy into all the ESPN articles about his curveball then go right ahead. I like to see results and 1 outstanding start compared to 9 lackluster ones is not the results I want to see. CLE is batting .261 on the road, .253 versus right-handers, and .220 over the last 7 days. They rank 7th in runs scored and have recorded the 5th most Ks. Avoid
- Away Justin Masterson is leveling off after his hot start. With 88 Ks in 10 starts I like what he brings to the table. However, what is on the table today, in DET, is not to my taste. DET is the very best home team in baseball and Masterson could be in for a long afternoon. DET is batting .303 at home, .279 versus right-handers, and .310 with 12 HRs over the last 7 days. They rank 2nd in runs scored, and have recorded the 4th fewest Ks. Avoid
Batters
- Home Miguel Cabrera is 11-28 with 2 HRs versus Masterson. Prince Fielder is 4-11 with 1 HR. Tori Hunter is 6-18 with 3 HRs. Victor Martinez and Alex Avila ‘s numbers are positive as well. Martinez, Fielder, and Cabrera have been hot over the last 7 days. DET is such a good home team consider everyone playable.
- Away Would it be overly confident of me to tell you to fire of a CLE load? They have ben slumping as of late so there is risk involved but I could see them getting to Rick. Carlos Santana is 9-27 versus Rick with 3 HRs. Nick Swisher is 6-19 with 1 HR. Mark Reynolds is 4-10 with 1 HR. Kipinis and Brantley have positive BvPs as well.

Las Vegas
- OU 8.5
- Favored TAM -130
Pitchers
- Home Jeremy Hellickson is struggling with the HR ball and fly balls in general. Even in his best start of the year, 19 of his 23 outs were fly ball outs. That is risky business my friend. BAL is not the team that you want to let get under the ball and drive it into the outfield. BAL is batting .278 on the road, .281 versus right-handers, and .249 over the last 7 days. They rank 5th in runs scored and have recorded the 3rd fewest Ks. Avoid
- Away Kevin Gausman just held DET to 1 ER in 6 IP. He is a young kid so if you think that means he is pointed in the right direction then consider him as a cheap option in GPPs. I do not buy it and will be avoiding him with my money and targeting him with some Rays hitters. TAM is batting .246 on the road, .243 versus right-handers, and .229 over the last 7 days. Avoid
Batters
- Home Pack your bags because we are headed to stacksville! I like the left-handed bats either way.
- Away Chris Davis is 10-22 with 1 HR versus Hellickson. Adam Jones is 11-35 with 3 HRs. J.J. Hardy, Nate McLouth, and Nick Markakis BvPs are positive as well. J.J. Hardy is super hot with 30.25 fp over the last week. Markakis, Jones, Machado, and Davis are all batting over .300 versus right-handers.
New York Yankees at Seattle Mariners
Our template for the Daily Grind Down is only set up for 15 games. There are 16 today because of the Rain Out yesterday so the NYY game got dropped of the map. There are no pop ups available. Do not worry I will give you the best info so you can still play this game.
Las Vegas
- OU 8
- Favored NYY -128
Pitchers
- Home Much has been written about Joe Saunders ‘s home record. While I think numbers and trends are useful, I think that we can read too much into splits. This is an instance in which people are putting too much faith into one number. After a single bad start versus SDG that number is already less attractive. The home park plays an advantage but you do not go from being a 9.00 pitcher on the road to being a 2.25 pitcher just because you get to pitch in front of your fans. Avoid
- Away Andy Pettitte has been a better road pitcher with a 2.63 road ERA and this is a great road park. SEA is one of the worst offensive teams in baseball so I think you can consider playing Andy today. In Play
Batters
- Home Jason Bay is 14-38 with 1 HR versus Andy. Kendrys Morales is 4-12 and batting .364 versus left-handers. Mike Morse and Endy Chavez are both batting over .300 versus lefties as well.
- Away I’m not sure I load up on NYY bats today just because Saunders is a lefty and the best NYY bats are also left-handed but I like them to produce some runs. A hot Mark Texeira seems playable no matter what.
